There have been plenty of MMOs that have shut down, none of them really major though, except maybe Sims Online (though it was never that popular, just had the brand power that people expected more out of it).
The whole point is for them to get you INSIDE the store. If people know they can't use their cards, they won't bother to go. But if they know they can use their $25 card, they'll go in, see all the signs for 50% off and maybe go on a shopping spree spending $300.
Well, maybe I'm completely off here but I always saw it as a matter of perspective because your view of a centrist moves depending on where and what political environment you live in. Left still always means left of central and right right of central. Am I wrong in saying that an American Democrat is left-wing when I'm an American? Are you wrong in saying an American Democrat is right-wing when you're a European? I would say we are both correct.
And by North Korea standards every news station in the world is extremely liberal. It's all about perspective. Why do people keep dragging out this rhetoric. This is American politics and American mainstream media. Everyone knows by now how right wing the politics are compared to Europe. Does that really mean anything?
Yeah, it was a great read. I see the signs periodically in Minnesota, I used to live in Eagan and the first time I saw the signs they were misspelled as Eagen or Egan but a few weeks later they were fixed.
Luckily (???) I'm already married so I don't have to worry about this stuff anymore.
10 cents is pushing it, I'd say more around 13 cents per gigabyte, but DVD media sits happily at 5-6 cents a gigabyte. Of course there are obvious differences, but my mantra is "burn and forget." I don't need to be bothered taking up hard drive space for a movie or iso I may need once a year. I just file the disc away in a large stack and fish it out if I ever need it.
Though as hard drives continue to fall in price and media stagnates (at least this generation), I will probably eventually buy a very large one and just use that. Of course if that one hard drive dies I lose a lot, but if one disc gets scratched, I only lose so much. RAID or backups only add to the per gigabyte cost.
Excellent point, last night I finished the fan translation of Mother 3 (the sequel to Earthbound that was never released in the US). I was expecting this game to be lighthearted but it had a pretty serious storyline at times. Without spoiling too much, the game focuses on a small family, and there's a lot of tragedy going on. I considered it a pretty mature game in all honesty, and not because of violence or sex.
Anyone else ever read the Great Train Robbery? I read it a year ago after I pretty much read everything else he ever wrote and loved it. Really surprised me the stuff he would tackle outside the realm of sci-fi.
This was easily the best election I ever participated in. Mostly because of Ron Paul. He opened my eyes to real liberty and true freedoms, and I've been a changed person man ever since. I'm not going to take crap from the two parties sitting down anymore, and I have real hope for this country, that someday we all might really be free from the federal government. I was also exposed to Ayn Rand and read her fiction, and really enjoyed it.
I wrote Ron Paul in, and I was beyond happy the rest of the day. It honestly felt awesome to vote for someone that I honestly believe in, an opportunity I've never taken before.
In high school my friend had a watch that he could program to control TVs (had to know the code though, etc.) and he would use it during class to turn on the TV, fast forward videos, generally be a jerk to these poor 70 year old teachers. He did get caught though and all the teachers stacked a ton of punishment on him. It was really hilarious when he would use it during class and even better after he got caught.
Ugh, you make me want to knuckle my forehead. Blood and bloody ashes.

Let's send this idea through ISO now, I'm sure it can be fast tracked into a real ISO/IEC Standard before Lego Open Standard realizes what hit them.
Maybe not his geek card, but definitely his PATRIOT CARD.
Before anyone asks, these XOs will come equipped with the child-friendly Sugar platform
If Sugar is child friendly, to whom is Windows friendly towards?
Depends on how set on a name their wife is, it could be over in a matter of seconds.
Wow, Battlestar Galactica has been on hiatus since June and Sarah Palin has come and (hopefully) gone. That feels really weird.

Hey, I was wondering what happened to your career?
Does anyone know if the Luhn Algorithm can be implemented in regex only?

(sorry if I double post this... I swear I posted it 10 minutes ago)

During the summer the Obama campaign had their systems hacked, but so did McCain - and not by each other but a third party.
Bob Barr or Cynthia McKinney?
Sounds similar to the octospiders featured in the Rama sequels. Okay, not really, I just felt like throwing out references to pop science fiction.
Washington DC does though.

Like Jack Bauer.
For some reason that picture makes me hungry for some KFC.

Too bad it chose today to bloom, what with the election and all. Next year probably would have been better.
