I'm pretty sure the reason for this is that the movie companies take such a large percentage of ticket revenue that the theaters have to find any way they can to make some money.
I'm sorry, but you're wrong. Macrovision is a feature of the DVD. The player has the ability to decode it. For a while I had a TV-VCR combo, and was able to view some DVDs and not others.
Try windows-tab sometime. Selects tasks on the taskbar, but doesn't switch to them. Combine with the menu button to easily close pr0n windows without revealing what's in them, all without using your mouse!
I wish I had mod points for you, cause this is a damn good point. If in fact the hacker had access to 'live' code at any point, they could have planeted backdoors into the code, and this is something that could take them months to find.
Don't forget about Astaro Security Linux... I've been happily using it as a firewall box for quite a while. A bit more robust than IPCop and Smoothwall in my experiance. I'll have to check out ClarkConnect though, looks interesting.
I haven't personally dealt with Verisign much but I used to have to deal with NSI daily, and I can tell you they were anything but ethical. Their prices were (and still are) absurd, their service terrible, and generally they were just not pleasent people to deal with.
So, if I understand this correctly, in the end, only the consumer gets screwed? After all, everyone else gets to keep the VAT they paid out of the VAT they charged...
That's why I said it shouldn't be a trade secret. The court's ruling was that trade secrets are not protected under free speech laws. I agree with this.
Since I'm seeing a lot of this, a note to the uninformed/misinformed who didn't RTFA or even much of the blurb:
These are NOT cards for gaming, they are for professional graphics work. Very different market, so please refrain from telling us how you don't need a high end video card or don't play video games. It's of no consequence.
These cards are not for games, they are for professional graphics work. I know this is slashdot, but please try to have a clue before you knock hardware that is useful.
They're god damn commies, that's what's wrong!

Wow, a radio station not owned by ClearChannel. Must be nice.
I wish there was a "+1 Funny Because It's True"
No, the patch for the free version was released at least a week ago, if not more.

If their film has little exposure, and some people at the academy haven't seen it, and don't get a screener copy, then they won't get nominated?
That's my best guess.
You had to be really carefully when connecting/disconnecting cables if the system was you.
Yes, wouldn't want to hook cables up to yourself improperly.
There is one in Outlook 2003, and it's on by default.

(Score:-1, Redundant)
Some mod has a great sense of humor.
I concur.
Technically, Ad-ware and spyware are two different things. I haven't really looked into all the crap that KaZaA includes but that could be accurate.

If you've never been to a concert, maybe you should go to one. Then you'd probably understand why it's worthwhile.
That's why I said it shouldn't be a trade secret.

If I steal your credit card number, I do not have the right to post it all over the internet and tell it to everyone I know.
The court's decision was correct, trade secrets are not protected under free speech, and shouldn't be. DeCSS shouldn't be a trade secret, is all.
Agreed, but *not* playing games is probably not a sufficient reason to not buy one, either.
You haven't seen the ducks we have here in south FL, then..
Look at this ugly fucker.
It doesn't if it's just sitting there with a dumb look on its face.
