So far we have validated that the contest and its rules are legal in the United States, Canada (excluding Quebec), and the European Union."
That just means they know that its definitely legal in those places. They haven't checked the laws in other places.
I REALLY like the new sidebar, but it eats up almost as much room as gAIM does. Does anyone know of a gAIM panel for the sidebar, so I can quickly view my buddy list?
No, it's just a standard measurement, it uses the constant c, which is the speed of light in a vacuum.
It doesn't matter if the light moves faster or slower between the two objects, the distance remains constant.
Personally, the main reason I believe Nintendo is not releasing the specs currently is a negative publicity thing. If they release just the numbers alone, then everyone would compare them against the PS3 and 360, making people think on whether they really want to buy a weaker console a year later.
However, if they release footage of games (Mid-november would be a good time, but unlikely), then they can show that they really do know what they are doing.
Driving down the price of desktops is good for those of us who are traditional. I personally have a powerful desktop and a cheap, but extremely portable 12" laptop. The laptop goes to class with me, but I'm usually on my desktop.
I know people that got a laptop, but then said it was too immobile to carry it around, so just use it like a desktop. Defeats the purpose of paying extra, does it not?
1-3 are valid points, but both 4 and 5 are implemented. I get a new status icon when I'm away, and it's easy to make an away message. Away->Custom, then just type it in and hit use.
The main thing I noticed is that there are no ads anywhere on the page. It is a much better, if slow, way of browsing the actual news articles.
The question about copyright violation is only in effect if the actual feed does not include the information.
Does anyone know if the data is gathered from the site itself or from just the feed?
Of course, they don't release a playable version after the Revolution was announced. What are the odds that the PS3 will now have a gyroscope or something similar?
Also, the games are more important, but I'm most looking forward to the first RPG.
I believe that if the price is reasonable, the downloads easy to make (Stored CC number or something), and available to children as well as adults (Quotas), it will succeed far better than the DRM attempts we have today.
Finally, the RIAA tried asking the Judge to amend the judgment in order to allow them to sue the child through a Guardian Ad Litem. However the court denied [the] RIAA's request.
IANAL, but doesn't that mean they can no longer sue the child?
While you may have not heard of it, I have seen it happen way too often.
I have a little brother (11), and even though my parents expressly forbid him to play any such games, he goes to a friends house to play them.
I'm not saying that that's an excuse for bad parenting - which is what buying it for kids in the first place is, but some people do obviously buy it for their kids without knowing what is in it.
I used to think all the jokes about dupes were false. But after the third dupe in a week, I am now a believer.

This OS seems like it is much more suited for server applications - where if one process fails, it doesnt crash the system.
Gee, that sounds familiar?
Uh, if you take it that way, why not just have the absense of light be zero?

You might have misread, but I know that. That's why I said they should release video footage instead of raw numbers.

A prayer is about all you can ask for.
I say - GOOD.

So did you or anyone at the company follow up on the second one? ;-)
Ever hear of emulation?
Already have. 40GB Hard drive laptop, good power output, and a much bigger screen was under 200 dollars.
I really can't see the appeal of a PSP.

Buy? The question is when you can burn HD porn.

Between a buffer overflow and Sony/Microsoft, I'll take the overflow any day.
Ok, who the hell has been playing with the moderation? How is that +5, informative?
This article has some of the worst moderation ever - of course, many people are avoiding it, but that's no excuse.
Microsoft. (Get it? A curse word in IT? Eh, its not as funny when you explain it)
Slashdot has a humor section? I thought that was what the front page was for.

-2010 -You don't need to predict a past event :P
