Why? Sony is in the line at the bank filling out forms for a loan. Thats a different line. They haven't made a dime overall on the PS2. They had profitable years yes, but still in the hole over that. The Gamecube made Nintendo FAR more money than the PS2 will ever make Sony (even if they fanagled numbers to show SOME small profit). Numbers sold mean something to fanboys. Profits mean a fuck of allot more to investors however who really decide who the winner is. If the PS3 doesn't do something AMAZING profit-wise the Playstation division at Sony may get scrapped. Same goes with the 360. That is a frightening prospect though having Nintendo as the unchallenged top-dog again *shivers*

Apple has the video editing side cinched up pretty much, and designers who have been in the industry 10+ years (the real talent) use Macs because thats what THEY were taught to use. Who do you honestly think is going to win the argument with IT as to which OS they are going to do design work on? The new hire, or the person who knows their shit, and not to mention likely is the reason they were hired/would be deciding pretty quickly as to if they will be fired. Macs have every design app available that is needed, and then some. The Windows user that wants flexibility is looking more to fuck around not doing their job. One more reason a Mac is the way to go. I personally (anecdotally of course) get allot more done on a Mac than on the many other Windows machines I run (can't wait to transition my server over in the near future).
The only real issues with people raised to work on Windows that then want to design on a Mac is they are too inflexible to figure out something so simple. As such, they won't be in the art field for long, and will likely just get a BA in some management program if they are smart. No real thinking needed there! Otherwise the only bitchfit people has are the IT department since they can't lock a Mac down draconianly like the can a PC. Then again, Macs don't get a virus because you look at them funny, or they flatly don't understand them which raises the question...Why are they even in the field?

Kinda seems like newer users are the ones getting IMAP. I haven't heard of any of us invite days only users getting IMAP yet.
Thats what the average person's vacation is. Some of us (say me) go on vacation for a month in a foreign country, and bring along a PDA/Laptop to keep things rolling smoothly for the company. Makes for an effective way to enjoy yourself, while still making a small chunk of change to say the least while not inconveniencing your peers with your absence. Helps to pass the time while on a 15 hour train ride from Hiroshima to Sapporo (yes, I'm insane thank you very much) and theres nothing to look at when dark outside.
When will Greenpeace STFU? They pull this shit in attempt to make themselves look legitimate, but just makes them look more crazy, and less something people want to have anything to do with. I finally jumped from my Treeo 650 to a Nokia N95 when it came out because they don't seem to care anymore about improving their phones in meaningful ways. They have fixed fuck all nothing. Just put a band-aid on the problem with a larger heat sync. The 360 is STILL just as hot as it was before they moved to the new hunk of metal model. The heat, and x-clamps are the major defect issue. The only light of hope for change honestly is the new 65nm chips that may or may not come out since they keep bumping back the expected date for those chips to come out. Only then will ANYTHING change. This is coming from an owner of a 360 Elite with their "new fixes" that had ROOD in under 48 hours of ownership that is heavily interested in MS's dealings with the 360. Their fixes for now will make a 360 last a little longer at best, not be reliable.
Please stop bitching about missing the boat with the Wii, and work on the console. Thats what this announcement was really about. One platform wouldn't involve them watching Nintendo from the sidelines as they make money hand over fist one cheaper to develop games. You can get a decent room put together for under 5-10k. Far less than many studios end up charging these startup groups. From there your expense is instruments. Only people who will bitch about these cheaper rooms is audiophiles who'd NEVER know the difference heard the album was made in one of the band member's spare room they kitted out. Due to that they can somehow can taste the difference, or some other bullshit thing audiophiles always claim, but when you live in reality, doesn't exist.
Sure, the system gets the most play from you, but if it doesn't make the company boatloads of money like EVERY system Nintendo has ever made (outside of the Virtual Boy, which I think they broke even on). Investors tend to get a little pissy. They don't care if you personally like the system. They want MS to make them as much money as possible in as short a time as possible. MS, and Sony both keep fucking up, and I wonder just how much longer both will keep this game up. Live off Pokemon forever? Videogames are what they do, and even when they are last place, they still make more than their competitors!

It's probably partially why Sony is pushing BR with the PS3. They want some good will from the media division so they can keep their attempts to screw with the industry going.
