Because the rest of the world believes that health care is a right, not a privilege.
How do you suppose those pesky freeloaders are supposed to find a job with a busted knee? How about if you were born with an incurable condition which requires expensive treatment just so you can function properly? Are you suddenly not allowed to be incurably ill without your parents being CEOs?
A server is way more likely to be "found out" as being in a botnet by its user(the admin) than a home computer is. At most it would be useful for a short while and then the admin would take care of the problem one way or another.
Why would you design a virus that to servers if that is the case(and I'm assuming it is)?
It doesn't really matter if it is stated in your constitution or not. A justice system has failed when it does not satisfy the populace(enough).
While ethics certainly play a major part in how justice should be exacted the "point" of a justice system is not to be ethical, but to keep people happy. Ethics is just what you use to justify the laws you have.
My comment on what defines an intelligent person is rather poorly worded. What I meant to say was that the "smartness" of an action is defined by how good it is for a given situation and not by some arbitrary predetermined rule(eg. it's always wrong/bad to use violence).
I pointed out as a reply to someone else that there is a huge difference in saying something to the effect that "there are usually better solutions to a problem than violence" and "there are always better solutions to a problem than violence".
An intelligent person is not defined by which solutions they use but rather by how effective their solutions are in any given situation. The "trapped with a lion in a cave" example that the gp provided to my previous comment I thought was a perfect example of where trying to find a solution that wasn't violent would be detrimental and outright stupid(assuming that violence was a possibly solution, I wouldn't try to kill a lion with my bare hands).
The main difference being that you can prove that violence can sometimes be the best solution by providing a single example where it is. Proving that it's never the best solution is something completely different.
The point is that you can solve those issues separately by using green energy to do all those tasks. If the fuel itself isn't green in the first place however that point is moot.
Other than to satisfy our curiosity I have to wonder what the point is? What exactly would we do to prepare for an earthquake that we don't already do(such as construct sturdier buildings or educate people on places where it's a good idea to take cover)?
Unless predicting involves the exact time which doesn't seem to be the case and I doubt will ever be possible what exactly will we do with the knowledge that "it's coming, soonish"?
That energy doesn't have to come from an engine like a lot of other posters have suggested. Gliders and other efficient solutions can be found(which, supposedly, is the entire point of the contest). Just take a look at any bird of prey the next time you see one, they don't flap their wings because they don't need to.
Actually, this is less of a stretch than you might think. Muscle memory(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscle_memory) can cause you to write something completely different than you were thinking and thus effectively "type without thinking".

I would just like to point out that I doubt very many people could answer how long it takes the earth to rotate the sun.
Now, how long it takes to circle it...
Actually, it kind of does, just in reverse(everything else gets less priority than the olympics).
With enough deals like this Net neutrality could be threatened. You'll have the different "fast" services which certain companies pay good money for and the rest of the internet in "regular" mode.
Then again, as long as it only happens for extremely big events like the olympics and such then what is there to worry about...
I live in Sweden and was thinking the same thing, unfortunately according to his webpage only US-citizen donated money is legal to use in your campaign.:|

Or it just so happens that 40% of the applications are more or less crap.
;)
That seems perfectly reasonable to me.
Define useful?

http://trial.thepiratebay.org/ Is the "official"(if there is such a thing) blog about the trial.
Most people who die from cancer are well past their retirement age. Just saying...
G..G..G.. I can't even bring myself to say it.
I would just like to point out that I doubt very many people could answer how long it takes the earth to rotate the sun. Now, how long it takes to circle it...
Which is why GP wrote if.
I'd like to point out that you ruined your meta-meta-joke.
Damnit, I already posted so I couldn't mod you funny :(
I find the irony in you spying on your ex GF's PIN to be, whats the word, deserving?
The lottery?

Except that people will use the knowledge gained in the "anything goes" olympics to get away with cheating in the regular olympis.
