Actually, The license doesnt change a thing for me. I still encode with EAC, for both MP3 and Ogg Vorbis, And I still use winamp to play both. Ogg has silent breaks between tracks, higher quality (VBR) at a smaller size. There is no good reason for me to stick to mp3. And to top it off, Ogg vorbis streaming (icecast2) sounds 100% better at 56K streams.
I'm sure hardware players will be out that can play all mp3/mp3pro/wma/ogg files. I can wait for an upgradable version.
Same goes with government offices, DEA, IRS, Child Protection, Child Support Enforcement, etc.
Would you want to be labeled Anti Child Protection? No politician will touch reform on these abusive agencies. I really think it comes down to having only 2 main political parties. You only get persons who fight fires, pass "pacify the public" type laws, stay in the spotlight, never work at true change.
BTW, I wonder what First Lady Laura Bush (former librarian) thoughts are on this subject.
The only complaint I have about X, and have not been able to solve, is non "Anti-Aliased" fonts. After seeing/using cleartype on XP, its very annoying to switch back to X, even with advanced render exentensions... Fonts are a major problem on every distro ive seen, even KDE/Gnome anti-aliasing features can not compare to XP/OSX.
If anyone has any good links on anti-aliasing font support, and how to tweak X for the best quality, please post the urls.
Thats why I pay 5 bux extra a month on my Sat service, so I can get the local channels in clearly. And that is true, most of the shows I watch are on the these channels. (And me and my wife both work, so I use 2 vcr's to record our tv shows, cheaper and more powerfull than tivo)
Just import one, dumbass. You know, like international trade, dude.
International shipping would cost a nice sum, might as well buy an upgraded system (locally) with the extra money. Defeats the purpose of a the cheap kickass system.
Some really nice deals, too bad its in Germany. Dual box (ppc) for 288, or a G4 system for 900.. That dual for 288 would make a kick ass linux box. If anyone knows of a place selling these in the USA, please post the url.
I've heard of over unity devices for years, and everyone says they are a scam. But I have not heard of anyone actually building one to test. So, I did a quick google search, found some schematics. http://www.geocities.com/theadamsmotor/solidstate. html

Only dsl option is IDSL from Covad

Covad On The Mend
·
· Score: 2
Many parts of the areas up here in Washington are left dangling by Verizon. So the only high speed dsl type service is IDSL.
I would love more bandwidth at a cheaper price, but Verizon would rather sell DSL in high income markets. I even saw an article about a lawsuit, ATT broadband being sued for not putting cable in low income urban areas. I hope the lawsuits spreads to Telcos and dsl. I found out when the equipment arrives, Redmond is winning out over other areas. Pisses me off, Verizon says they will have the equipment in for the last 2 years for DSL. My phone line qualifies, but they are at capacity at my central office. And no cable modems in my area due to a mom and pop cable company moved in and made everyone agree to long term contracts. (screwed again...)
But, back to the IDSL, its only 144/144K, but its connect 24/7 (not like isdn), Covad even has an Sys-Admin package that lets you have 2 IPs, and allows you to run servers. Great thing about it, its the lowest ping ive seen around, 30ms to game servers in Seattle via SpeakEasy. Covad and Speakeasy has been pretty good, other than the price for idsl. (-;
I listen to mp3 radio, Digital Trance/Techno from the UK, alot of stuff you cant find on tv/radio. I have to order the cd's for the mixes, but you can find unknown mixes on gnutella (if popular)..
I wonder, since I'm buying imported music, does the RIAA still make money off it? Are there main guntella connections for the UK?
And speaking on encoding, I love how an Ogg Vorbis encoded cd has no skips between the tracks, really annoying with mp3s.

That's the MAIN problem, hacker are believed to be criminal. Discrimination is a handy tool for people wanting laws passed, ala DMCA.
I know lots of people with fiber to their house. None of them have DSL. The telcos are not spending the money on providing fiber bandwidth to homes.
Fiber means shit, if the telco does nothing with it.
Most people live in areas where they can get high-speed Internet access, the problem is the Telcos/Cablecos do not want to spend the money! Man, I hate reading this crap about high speed bandwidth options, there is no options, you get what your local companies give you. Most of us get squat.
Its no MOHAA or RTCW, thats the point, its a SIM that masks as a FPS. Kinda like CS without the cheats. The GFX are extremely good, thou some maps are dull(real life...) It does need a high end card with AA, which the new Radeon will give.
Hopefully we start to see UT2K3 benchmarks in reviews, I'm tired of Q3A, I hope Doom replaces it for benchmarks.
Better check again, it is powered by the unreal2003 engine. And the gfx are suppose to be war based, its not suppose to be robots with glowing lasers and floating power ups.
I play American Army (unreal2003 engine based) and I get 35fps, with lows at 19 on very heavy battles. But I also like pushing my resolution at 1024x768 with 2x AA on an AMD 1800, GF3/TI500, so a GF2 should be able to do 600x480 with no AA at almost playable speeds.
Elected representatives remember their friends, look how many WorldCom and Enron people work for/with the Bush family in both the political and private companies.
How do you expect anyone to get work done, when its CYA (cover your ass) mode all the time, they will be job hunting their term is up.
We have the (Evil imho) Verizon also. Our lines can support DSL, but they have been out of equipment for the last 2 years. It seems when equipment comes in, Verizon picks who should get it, they want to expand it the luxury Redmond area first. (Ya, I'm in Washington, Hell hole for broadband)
Verizon loves to give excuses like, Line is too far (they expanded DSL coverage upto 19K feet now), Line isn't the right gauge (They have no problem with isdn or a t1 in same area). I even have a buddy who was a Verizon tech, he called his buddy to check on my phone, he confirmed, my line qualifies. (He's looking at hooking me up any ways, I can hope...)
Oh, and why cant I get a cable modem? Well, the apartments around here went to Millienium cable to get a kick back, and they don't offer cable modems, hell they wont even upgrade to digital cable! AT&T does have cable modem service in this area, but M locked the building owners into contracts.
Its cluster fuck for people wanting broadband in America.
We had a local log jam on our little river (WA State), the local country wanted 1.6 million to clear it out. People got together raised 15K and hired a contractor to do it.
Local governments are just as corrupt as any monopoly.
BTW, How many ex Enron and Worldcom employees work for the Whitehouse staff.
At work the 2 most popular drinks, that run out first in the soda machines are Diet Cherry Coke and Vanilla Coke. Myself, I drink the diet cherry, I wish Vanilla Coke had a diet version. That vanilla coke is rather tasty. The Diet lemon coke tastes like cleaner, just like pepsi blue.
Still doesnt work for me. This is in my all.prefs, user.prefs just errors with both user_pref and pref.
Whats the deal?
BTW, Phoenix users 18megs memory, mozilla uses 22megs, is this really a light version?
pref("network.proxy.type", 1);
pref("network.proxy.http", 127.0.0.1");
pref("network.proxy.http_port", 8080);
pref("network.proxy.ssl", "127.0.0.1");
pref("network.proxy.ssl_port", 8080);

You are 100% correct.. Business as usual, pass a law, forget it happened 15 minutes later.

Why dont all the people who put in 27K get together and do just that.
Actually, police cameras have been removed from interrogation rooms across the us, due to the tactics of police abuse during interrogation.
