      It doesn't have to kill the rental business. It's not to hard to release specially made games (and movies) to rental companies.

    On that note, I buy games, movies, and music cds based on rentals and previews. No demo or rental, no buy for me. How many other people do the same?

    The real Vista killer is not SUSE Enterprise but it's OSX ported to the Windows Platform. Apple has what it takes to do it but they simply refuse to because they want people to buy their hardware.

    I just got couple questions.

    Why is Phishing so successful?
    What is so hard about actually contacting the company yourself?

    Suggestion:
      Record IP addresses or domains of phishing sites and add them to HOSTS. Along with addresses used in trojans and worms. Also add them to Routers.

        Quick. Someone write a program that automatically updates HOSTS file and charge $19.95/year or $4.95/month for the peace of mind that you won't be caught up in phishing attempts or viruses.

    Would you all use AOL if they redesigned their software and used Mozilla as the base for the browser?

    I would consider it if the damn software didn't act like a virus like norton. Also, they can put all ads in an iframe.

    It must be a slow slashdot news day. NASA Shuttle has launched hundreds of times before safely.

    It would be news if NASA launched a new type of shuttle but the Discovery isn't new.
    It would news if the Enterprise shuttle was launched into space.
    It would be news if NASA hired private company to build a new shuttle and launched it into space but NASA didn't do this.

      This article is old news and nothing new.

    Those who want to mention that it's news because another shuttle broke apart on re-entry then you are wrong. Every astronaut knows that the job is dangerous and there is numerous risks in involved. Shuttle was never 100% safe and nor will it ever. Nor will any future space craft be 100% -- private or government owned. The only space craft that would be *remotely* safe is the one with the ability to the control rate of speed when descending.

    What NASA should be doing is developing a workable business model that will make itself self-sufficient.

    NASA SHOULD BE OFFERING commercial services to American Civilians.

    1. Suborbital Flights.
    2. Cremation Services with Partial ashes launched into space.
    3. For Fee Licensing of Patents resulting from NASA Research.
    4. And any other compettiive services Comercial companies plan to offer.

    And those who think government shouldn't be making money, you should be reminded of United States Postal Service. USPS is a self-sufficient government agency. They rarely ask for federal money.

    DSL is only good for those moments when you visit a friend who insists on using Windows but you hate it. Just take out your little 1-4gb flash drive with DSL on it. You won't be stuck with using Windows if you don't have your laptop with you or allows people without a laptop to be more mobile.

    Does anyone remember the CueCat and the fact you could hook up the thing to your tv to display websites of a particular product in a commercial?

    It is possible to build better device that will record what channels you remain at for more then 15 minutes and have the computer upload the data to Google through wireless interface.

    Google would do 'Summer of Code' and yet not support Linux in it's own applications.

    The real $23.1bn question is 'Does Apple Computer want to buy Nintendo'? The $51.7bn answer is no.

    As for the Gamespot rumor, there could be some truth to the game division but not to build a console or buy Nintendo. It could very well be a result of Apple aggressively seeking out more gaming market share on the PC.

    Despite the security issues, the extension has it's uses. Like Syncing your different linux installs with same bookmarks. How many times have you switched to different Linux or Windows OS only to remember the bookmark you need is on the other OS install? I've done it. Sync your destops, laptops, and other OS installs with this extension.

    Those worried over passwords or cookies, Would you share your encrypted password to your bank account to anyone else? No. Don't share it with Google.

    Why would someone buy this jack pc that runs Windows CE when they can buy Mac Mini for $209 or $409 more?

    Mac Mini is small and can fit inside the wall easily.
    $799 model has a drive big enough for Dual Boot of XP and OSX.

    Google maybe setting up a new and improved Froogle with Store Fronts similar to Yahoo Shopping.

    "Google Checkout" could be used for stores in froogle to accept payments.
