    The graphics jump was huge in the SNES generation, while the graphics leap in this one is only large. At this point its just photorealism, then it was you wouldn't be able to do stuff because the graphics were so weak.

    ..an extremely tech-friendly site that follows trends of current technological fads and has a very high penetration of coders that could use work to pay for ramen. Another good idea would go somewhere that would know how to leverage open source solutions for your problems.

    Who says I (we) support war? I don't, but frankly, there is not a thing I can do about it for the next 3 years, so we might as well some of the money saved goes somewhere useful, instead of to the defense/homeland security department.

    From the OSI definition:

    "The license must not restrict anyone from making use of the program in a specific field of endeavor. For example, it may not restrict the program from being used in a business, or from being used for genetic research."

    Its part of Freedom; freedom to do anything with it they want. Think of it like free will. If a God gave it to people, then they were free to do stuff that he didn't like, but thats part of the package deal.

    I'd rather have linux do something like that, even if I don't agree with the 'that'. I'd rather have tax money saved on something like that, and also it furthers the robotics field from the open source point of view.

    And best yet, no blue screen of open fire ;)

    It is local law, and google has no chance of changing it. Either they come, or someone else will, simple as that. No matter how unjust, or how much I disagree with a law, it is still the law. Google has almost no choice in the matter.

    Its basicly be there and do something you don't want to, or watch someone else do it, to the exact same effect, except you don't get the money. Sound business tactics, but the situation is hardly their fault.

    Most anything that doesn't require X is lightweight by today's standards. So go open an xterm. btdownloadcurses, wget, etc all work just as well as thier GUI counterparts :)

    That's equivalent to saying if you never leave your house you won't get mugged. Sure, its probably true, but if you take the proper cautions, you will probably avoid getting mugged, and, more importantly, you don't let fear control your life.

    Have you tried tunneling SSH over the https port? I've played around with it at my high school, but its hardly worth it since they block no outgoing ports...

    Thing is, my Geforce 5200 FX probably would get pwned in this test, but I can play HL2 with almost all the settings cranked up just fine. Why do I care about a stupid test?

    to edit out the copyright notices and comments in other languages :)

    I'm serious about the copyright notice though; one time in school, a kid copied a major assignment verbatim... so verbatim he forgot to take off the big 'ol 'by Bruce Proctor' off the top.

    When he read it in front of the class, the teacher was very impressed (the student is not the best ever :D), but as he was talking out the door, you hear a bellow of "...by Bruce Proctor... SYED!"

    but larger, yes.

    Games were small and simple then-- they are large and complex now, bugs will be easier to find in a large program.
