I said and this is better than having someone randomly shutting down your operations, and potentially stealing anything they wanted, or leaving behind Trojans or back doors? 10 minutes later the admin account was disabled, and we just started trouble shifting and changing other system as they appeared broken, then the next user account was was found that started shutting stuff down.
Any remote access to these systems? Well the previous IT providor used to use team viewer........ Changed that account and the attacks stopped.

And the next thing is screen real eastate on multiple big monitors, a comfy seating position, proper keyboard and a great mouse, none of these available on a laptop.
For my code cutting, Mac mini server with SSD harddrive, 16Gb RAM, 2x24" displays. I've got VMs for windows and Linux I can fire up when needed. My windows VM is actually an image of the shitty dell pc they gave me to start with so i still get the office supplied corporate apps. I bought the Mac with my first overtime paycheck.
For mobility, iPad and a bluetooth keyboard. This is just for mail, corporate intranet access and taking notes
I was a myth fan, but then after setting one up I realized that I hardly ever watched broadcast tv anymore. I've now gone with a much simpler plex configuration.
On my Mac I have plex server and eye tv. Anything I want to record I do through eye, which then transcodes and exports automatically, plex indexes it, and my 1TB media store, and the plugins for Vimeo, YouTube and iTunes etc. then I use plex frontend on an old 2008 mini on the 50" plasma tv, my iPhone, my iPad and my wife's android. I'll look at picking up a 7" android tablet for the kids to use.
What myth really needed to keep up we're more frontend clients. Current plex server beta also supports DLNA, so as more profiles get developed, more screens will get supported. I've also got a PVR for one off recordings if I need it, but of course nothing recorded on it can be shared.
And the education stats quoted in the article, remember the "criminal" population is just a list of those who got caught. Maybe this just means those without higher education are simply more likely to get caught and prosecuted for their endevour. I'm sure if you included politicians in the mix it might lift the stats a little.
Just a couple of points, if the admin has to ask here what to do, there is something wrong.
Also, if your documentation of the system and password repository are not up to scratch, then one day handover will NOT BE ENOUGH, EVER.

But if he did it on his own time, he should have removed all personal documents and code when he left. If it was done on the companies equipment, it's still going to be theirs, not his to do with as they wish.
If he wrote it on his own, and used it at work, under the GPL, then he might have a leg to stand on, but it will come down to the fineprint in his contract who owns code he wrote while employed full time by that company.
Take it as a learning lession: Make sure you get signed contracts for everything.

But the media companies will want to control when and where you watch their shows, as they couldn't let some place like New Zealand get Heroes faster than their own tv broacasters syndicate the show for example. They will want to cripple it with DRM, even though pervasive and easy acess from this site would make it not worth the effort of getting a bootlegged pirate copy on a torrent, and anyone who can recieve the original broadcast can copy the show anyway.
Personally I thnk Notes is a great back end system, but it's client should never have been let near any users. It is terrible, slow, hard to manage and just plain ugly. Howeever is is really easy to develop some good business systems and have clustering, replication, secured access, web front ends, cross platform etc.
However MS Exchange and Outlook, there is a neat client that is fundamentally easy to use, but the back-end is very poor, hard to troubleshoot. Exchange 2007 is the first version that is even going to have some form of high-availability for its databases included right out of the box, but you are going to have to upgrade just about your entire exchange network (and every server running it to 64 bit Windows to make use of the features.)
I find the biggest advantage to using OSS publishing tools is with the non profit orgs I volunteer for. Using Scribus, OO.o, Gimp I can run all of these tools on any platform under any os using any GUI. They all work fine, the output is suitable for 99% of all the clubs I work with, the file formats are portable across systems, and the software is free (which is a big bonus for small non profits who want to do it all legally wihout using either corporate resources where they work or pirated software). Using them I can create professional looking output, and all the source material, graphics, text, fonts etc can be easily given to someone else to continue working on without having to reinvent all the templates again for the propriety apps they happen to have on their home PC's.
Web tools are more advanced but show the same principals.

Actually, I think the technology he is looking fore here is called a pamphlet, or maybe a DVD player hooked to a tv on a loop.
