    I have many books in both audio and printed format. They are quite different and enjoyable.

    An aside, I believe that there is a corollary to Godwin's law. "Any conversation involving a new technology will eventually involve a comparison of existing technology to a buggy whip."

    Mind you, I am not an expert on the subject of ID, but every proponent I have run into never seems to claim anything. They just say "Evolution is just a theory, here is my theory. Now you must teach it in your schools." Or words to that effect. Frankly, I wish they would claim something specific. It would be a whole lot easier to invalidate their theory.

    Follow the money. Microsoft employee uses Microsoft software. Aside from some accounting shuffling, no money changes hands. BillG foundation employee uses Microsoft software. The foundation pays Microsoft for it, Microsoft makes a little more money.

    It is purely a business transaction.

    I agree with you. Though, your nuclear arguments could use a little sharpening.

    I don't think that construction costs are a very important factor for two reasons. First, it is a one time cost for the life of the plant. And second, any replacement technology will have construction / installation costs*.

    Also, Australia is not the only source of Uranium. Nuclear powered ships may not be an ideal option for cargo (the security issues are obvious and difficult to surmount). I'd like to see some sort of comparison of the transportation CO2 generation vs kW contained in the fuel. A causal web search did not yield anything. While not the zero we would expect for wind / solar / geothermal, I would expect it to be a tiny fraction of the total generated by the coal plant it is replacing.

    *That is, until we perfect the power-from-flowers-grown-in-the-front-lawn technology. =]

    A friend of mine did her undergrad at MIT. She claimed that there were no weed-out classes. The rigorous admissions process was the weed-out. Once in, you are provided with the tools to succeed.

    (this is bordering on 20yrs ago. perhaps things have changed)
