"And micropayments could be replaced by being forced to watch a 60-second Old Spice "ultramercial" while you download a new costume for your character."
I would actually agree to something like this, but I fully expect them to withhold content to expand profits. Not that they're doing that now... If they want to force ads on the public, they better give something of value in return.
Some of us deal with computer issues all day long. It's the absolute last thing I want to do when I get home. Having said that, I bought a Dell two years ago.
2.66 GHz P4 1 Gig ram Radeon 9800 Pro 128 Mb 80 Gig HD 15" Digital FP monitor 2.1 sound
$1050
People greatly exagerate the costs involved with a new dell.
"Self control makes one worse at video games because it causes hesitation."
I must completely disagree unless you're only looking at run and gun FPS. Even within the shooters, there are plenty of examples that require a huge amount of self control. Look at any Resident Evil game and you'll realize why you must hesitate. You'll just end up with an empty clip and the unpleasant feeling of zombie teeth in your brain pan.
You'd be surprised. A friend had a grandparent pass away and they found over $8000 in coins and small bills when they cleaned out the house. Takes all kinds.
I'm still waiting to see what Nintendo does with the DS connectivity. Also, why aren't we getting more demo download offers? That's one area where the PC is still beating the snot out of any console/handheld.
I don't really care if steam is spun off. All I want is a comprehensive download service that will let me legally obtain any game I want. Granted I'm being unreasonable, but why shouldn't I dream?
I haven't play any FF game after FF7 on the PC. I did however pick up a copy of FF4: Advance to enjoy on my wife's DS lite and I'll hopefully be getting the DS remake of FF3. I simply will not purchase a console for one game. (and 8's magic system sucked)
I work IT for a manufacturing facility and come in contact with Joe Public all day long. Most everyone that has a PS2 is interested in the PS3 and has seen commercials for it. However, they are generally not aware of the price. Mentioning $500-600 has universally destroyed any interest and most have stated that they will wait until the unit is $200-300. I have not encountered a single individual that remains interested after discovering the how much it will end up costing them. Pair that with the fact that I am one of three people that own a HD tv..
I managed to get a copy of Raving Rabbids last week, but I'm still waiting for the classic controller that I 'Preordered'. I'm pretty sure Gamestop sold mine when the last shipment came in.
Whenever I get depressed about Good ol Rod, I just remind myself that there is a decent chance that he'll go the way of George Ryan.
The really sad thing is that the corruption moves through all spectrums of Illinois bureaucracy including the schools. You'd be AMAZED at the amount of waste going on there.
My sister-in-law stopped by last night and tried the Wii. I just got a call from my wife saying that they're planning on spending several hours playing tonight. I'm never going to finish the first temple at this rate...
That's a given, but I'm wondering how the 360 did in North America. Also, it will be very interesting to see the sale figures for next week given the fact that the PS3 and Wii (I got mine at launch Wiii!) are in short supply.
That's quite possible. The idea of nothing is a mystery to those that have been raised with the notion of an ever present god. For what it's worth, I've been on both coasts and I still prefer the midwest. People tend to be a bit more mellow around Chicago when it comes to politics and religion.
"My point was, that societies where one religion has great power (especially if it is the state religion) tend to treat people of other faiths very poorly."
I agree 100%. Having said that, many religions do have a stated purpose of seeking to convert unbelievers. My particular branch (and most others) believe that followers have a duty to spread their faith. However, that does not mean we all want to beat you over the head with it. I personally keep my opinions and beliefs to myself until I feel that the person is comfortable enough to have a rational discussion. If that goes well, I'm happy to extend an invitation to join us for a service. I've had some accept and many more reject the offer. To be irate or unreasonable would be contrary to the core message of my faith. How can someone teach love and acceptance while condemning someone?
"The best way to keep the followers of a religion "good" is to prevent them from having very much power."
I think the main problem is that many of an older generation have not learned to accept people for who they are. I personally have friends of various faiths, races, and sexual orientations. I can't say that I've never offended any of them with my beliefs, but we still manage to remain friends. Again, I wish you had a better experience with religion in general. Not everyone that holds a belief wishes to offend or condemn.
I don't normally pick up too many, but I have a nasty habit of purchasing games that my wife wants when I know that she isn't going to play them for more than a few days. I sold off five of them for the Wii because they were offering an additional 20% towards preorders. Easy, quick and I was going to be there anyways.

So you're offended that religious people pushed their view on you and now you want to push a secular view on them? Perhaps what you meant was everyone should leave everyone else alone, but that is certainly not what you said. I really am sorry if you had a bad experience at the hands of someone who professed to be a person of faith, but you must remember that an individual does not make a group.
It's not worth the time and hassle for me to use eBay. It also helps that I only trade in stinkers that I shouldn't have purchased in the first place. No one wants a stinker, but EB will still take them off my hands.
"1) When buying a game demo, purchasing the full game should be an unlock code and not another download. They are large."
You have to purchase demos? I really hope that you mistyped here.
Disclaimer: My wife hasn't played any console since the NES and hates the modern control setup.
My wife insisted on picking up our preordered Wii on Saturday night. We played Wii sports until 3am Sunday morning and 12:30am this morning. I think I can safely say that she LOVES it.
I generally do not revisit a restaurant if the food sucks and the service is terrible. Just remembering is not enough to make me a consumer or patron. I would say you need a positive reaction for the commercials to be a success.

Ray Charles used to insist on being paid in singles because he didn't trust anyone including his manager.

I think it's a pretty safe bet that there has been a 20 on 20 somewhere in PC history. Battefield 2 comes to mind, but I can't verify it.

Didn't format...

Very true. My non gamer wife has been kicking my ass is just about every Wii sport.

Amen to that. And to make matters worse, my wife keeps asking me to play sports with her instead of Zelda solo.
