Make a distro of Linux that: 1. There is no monthly fee to install games (that you could make work with enough of your own research) 2. Supports an EASY install button.
I'm quite surprised that there isn't a Gaming Distro. I tried linux on my home boxes for many years, but eventually we ran out of games to play and resorted to Windows installs in order to play. I keep hearing the "oh games are for kids" or "death of PC gaming" or whatever- Completely invalid arguments. I mean really- How many people needed that more powerful machine "to crunch numbers" better or "for photoshop" when really it was for the game of that time (Doom, CS, Crysis, Skyrim, etc)???
I will admit to wanting to vote for Obama. I'm as hard-core republican as they come and have been defending all the crazy stuff this administration has done. However- there comes a time to admit when one is wrong, and the current party made a HUGE mess of itself. They represent business rather than my conservative views.
It doesn't have to be a cross. They could have stated it: So instead of getting mad at the Bush administration for an unpopular war, they send nuts to a TV show. Instead of getting mad at meat companies for (insert whatever) they send nuts for a TV show. Instead of getting mad at companies and governments about global warming, they send nuts o a TV show.
It's called perspective. It WAS a TV show, and not really a good one at that.
Not really a cop-out answer, but I can't wait for my son to learn enough to be able to play Civ with me. As for FPS, I'd let him play Halo as soon as he can (on a PC though)- I don't want my kids to be console addicts- they'll be able to play ANY game they want so long as they know how to install the game AND it involves a keyboard. It was a pretty proud moment when my 5yr old figured out how to install LEGO Star Wars. Heh- the first words he learned how to read were Load and Save.
As another poster suggested, I also use games to teach the "Good vs Evil" thing- Halo is especially good for that actually. I totally draw the line at GTA though- and honestly would never play the game myself.
I still own this board game- it's called Fortress America. It's way to easy for America to win in it, you just have to last until the satellite defense network is in place....
My dad used to relate about geographical location in regards to quality. He would tell me "In my day, we never wanted Japanese made items- we had a word for them Jap-oke (meaning Japan-Broke)" "We always wanted the American goods, those things the americans built would last forever". "Nowadays we gotta make sure to look at the VIN number on cars to be sure they weren't made by union hands and will actually drive for a few years". Of course- he also had to walk to school, uphill- both ways- in the snow. Though how that happened in the tropics, I'll never know.
The reason it CAN'T be Dwayne (or any other BigName actor) is the FACT that none of them can do it without taking the helmet off. I think it will be crutial that the helmet stays on to maintain any sense of credibility that Halo:the movie is staying true to it's origins. If you don't think so- see Doom:the movie.
Imagine how less of a movie 'V for Vendetta' would've been had they stayed with the original actor who wanted to take off the mask...
/. and Digg have their own unique strengths. Unfortunately for speed of news, I'll check Digg, but more often then not- they let slip a LOT of content that I would not consider "Tech-Worthy" news, so I go to/. for the "meaty tech stuff".
What about the theory that there were WMD's and the Democratic party - in cooperation with Germany/France- removed all evidence of them in order to make GWB and parties look bad?
What about the theory that GWB and parties are "allowing" troops to be removed so that terrorists in Iraq can escalate/grow so that after the 2008 election and a certain female Democrat is in office- the terrorists will be strong enough to detonate a nuke in NYC and She and her parties will get the FULL blame?
I think another reason a lot of people don't switch is due to Impress not having dual monitor/presenter mode. Since Teachers/Professors/Presenters use the dual function- it is moot for them to get BOTH Ooo and MSO since they need MSO for slides.
Yes, I play this also- I thought that lack of loot would be the downfall of the game, but there are actually things to do besides camp for hours only to have someone steal your kill.
We can actually go on adventures fighting crime and/or evil!!!!!!!!!!
I was wondering when someone would bring this up. Though I've voted every chance I got, my States electoral votes still go to the other guy. And as for voting for the guy who wants to take that out.... can you name one career politian that really wants to get rid of the electoral college?
I vote because it's my right, and I came from a regime that did NOT allow it, and so I understand my priviledge to the USA- However don't blow smoke by saying the popular vote will put a President into office. All these ads saying "One vote caused this.." (on MTV) simply don't apply to this REPUBLIC in which we live.
A note about your comment in bringing back Bab5: I agree that B5 was a MUCH better show than the trek franchise, but I think it's because the writer pretty much wrote a complete novel (i.e. Begining, Middle, END) And that's why B5 was much better than trek. There is something to ENDing a story- something that Trek has never learned.
THIS.
Forget Office and all the other arguments.

Perhaps this can actually run (gasp) Crysis?
Crud now that "the Other guy" won, that means Fallout 3 can't happen.
Darn *throws Vault tickets away*
It due to those damn Americans and their SUV's that solely caused global warming -and- by relation the are to blame for the diminishing sunspots.

You, my friend, are what we'd call "Zombie Bait".
It's probably a good thing that once the Great Panic starts- you'd be among the first to go.

Of course if it was done for Firefly.....

GAHHHHHHH !!!! My minds about to explode of shame due to the fact that I knew all those references!!
Obligatory:
NO- but there are FOUR lights!!!!

Please. Spinners can spew lots of stuff.
Get off your soapbox and TRY to stay on topic.

What rolls down stairs, alone or in pairs, rolls over your neighbors dog?
Turned out I was just bored.

Every comic book readers dream.
Mmmmm I remember when they first opened up- then everyone discovered there was a "flaw" in the math and you could exploit it to make millions.....
Then they reset the servers to a save game that was 24 hours before the patch...
