From personally using/selling this computer for about a month, I can say it is nothing more than a gimmick. It's nothing more than a glorified tablet with a glossy screen. If HP were serious about trying to revolutionize an industry, chances are, they'd have to partner with Apple to use their patents. As it is now, the screen is uncomfortable, buggy, and horrifically unprecise. Plus, the computer itself is nothing special, being built on the same platform as their DV5 series of laptops. The processor is just a Core2 Duo T5750 which barely clocks at 2.0ghz. They try to make up for the mediocre processor with 4gb of 333mhz DDR2, and fail. The screen has no multi-touch capability, so using an on-screen keyboard is a pain because response time shows as much latency as someone trying to play WoW on a 28.8kbps dial-up connection.
HP will never turn novelty into a revolution. These companies do nothing more than market the norm with a little more glitz, and unfortunately, the age of the keyboard and mouse is not yet over.
Give me a capacitive multi-touch screen with haptic feedback that runs linux with Enlightenment or one of the other eyecandy desktop environments on a low profile desktop form factor, then we'll see if touch screens are the way of the future.
I personally can't forsee this happening. Even Microsoft isn't stupid enough to adopt a platform that everyone doesn't have the ability to run. Sure, Vista needed a hardware upgrade on most systems in order to run, but with a web-based OS, a decent high speed connection is needed, which the majority of users don't have access to. Sure, DSL and cable are available to the majority, but that won't be sufficient to provide a good end-user experience. The only viable options for internet that I can see would be fiber optics or a fast T-carrier. In order to kill massive amounts of latency in this application Microsoft would either have to compress everything going to and from their servers. Also, how does MS plan to deal with huge amounts of traffic?
Perhaps there should have been a warning on the video to get really close to the screen and tilt your head 45 degrees to the left.
Otherwise, this video has restored my faith in humanity.
Why would anyone even get one of the 4G-X models? The new model with XP will have an 8gb ssd, a gig of RAM, and a touch screen. It'll be released sometime during April.
I heard that SOMETIMES people even vandalize Wikipedia!
I can't believe people these days!
Seriously, what is the point of posting an article that pertains to a single page on a massive social networking site?
Get a blog.
A couple of years back, I did an interview over the web with Ralph H. Baer. He was VERY clear that he didn't create PONG, but a similar game called Ping Pong. It consisted of a green field with two paddles that had changeable angles. It was also a great deal more difficult and faster moving than PONG.
Why don't these people who complain about non-user-friendlyness just use Ubuntu.
I mean, it has the Synaptic package manager with great repositories.
Also, Linux DOES work with iPods. GTKpod, people.
Someone needs to teach you about real influences. I have played violent games for the majority of my life (starting with Wolfenstein 3D) and never once have I tried to recreate any of the scenarios. Jack seems to think that all of Rockstar/Take-Two games are solely popular because people want to reenact things, but how many people can truly blame video games on their crimes.
Excuse me, but I'm going to go kill some hookers, steal some kid's lunch money, and go joyriding in a stolen police car now.
I can't tell, is this post serious or not because if it is serious, PETA just found a new campaign.
Thanks for feeding the fire that is PETA. Next thing you know, they'll be the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and Bacteria.
But I don't use hantavirus on my PC.

I dobut it too, man.

Like the majority of the internet, my music collection would cost me 2,250,000,000. Greedy bastards.
I've driven that stretch of highway many-a-time since I live in Amarillo. It's probably the most boring drive anyone could ever experience in Texas.
Live long, and milk a series for all it's worth. I lost interest after First Contact.

Please enter your credit card number so we can "verify your age." It's a trap!
You see, people. THIS is why everyone hates Microsoft.
Did anyone else think that this was about Snoop Dogg?
Except it's already happening now.
RFID anyone?

The RIAA needs to lay off of the dead guy's kids. Seriously. He's DEAD, RIAA. What else could you want? A cookie?

"each may have been inspired but certainly not by Microsoft." Just like Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" was 'inspired' by Queen's "Under Pressure"
Thank you Jack Thompson!
How bad can a game about a kid countering a bully possibly be?
