Efficient, you mean. As in "Efficiency is NOT the art to get more done in the same time, but to get rid of work ASAP." Sorry, I didn't have the time to write down the author of this quote.;)
The soon enough part might not be correct. By the time you get multithreading support in more common apps, you might very well have CPUs with eight cores available, with quad-cores acting as the cheaper version. Buying the quad-core CPUs now only makes sense for specific apps that can already use the computing power, or to get bragging rights.
This is one reason Intel tries to market these processors to the gamers, i.e. the people who are not reasonable about the hardware they buy.
Intel does not seem to win the power and heat comparison if you consider desktop processors (see link below). You would probably have to use their notebook platform to achieve that.
Are you sure the way your office looks does not affect the way you a) do you work and b) feel after work? Does that not relate to the way your desktop looks? I do not mean the effect on others (the "bling"), but on you personally (colors and shapes you prefer -- stuff like that).
But could you not downclock the card to make the heat more manageable? I mean, it would probably still beat the crap out of a 7600 GT (the previous maximum for graphics cards with passive cooling), right?
The 65nm process from AMD will give us another interesting animal: a 35 W desktop processor. 100% passive cooling without a ridiculously expensive case would be pretty nice, eh?
There's the real possiblity that Vista might turn out to be a unusable crap heap, but its way to early to make that call. I'm kinda suprised that they had a public beta with 6 months (plus 3 more once it gets pushed again) to go.
Maybe they felt they had to show something, as they were getting too close to making (well, not making, actually) another Duke Nukem Forever.
Well if you already use GMail, what's a little more personal information?
The big deal for me would be information connected to my work, i.e. password to extranet sites and the like. Not likely I will ever let anyone keep those.

So, since Google is doing it, is spam good now? I'm confused.
And again...

Seems to me someone needs to be reminded about the magical numer 640. ;)
Are you saying we are werewolves?
More like yawning FBI agents.

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)
They have too many. Trust me.
Well, the Germans got their share of testing as well. And they too say Conroe performs better overall than current Athlons. (Yes, the article is in German. I bet you can still figure out the graphs.)n roe-erste-benchmarks/
