    Yes there are.
  2. Re:Isn't art highbrow? on Why Are There No Highbrow Video Games? · · Score: 5, Interesting

These are EXACTLY the two games that came to mind for me, too. The problem with saying there are no highbrow games is that makes it seem like the author has seen them all... So maybe this is a stretch, but, who is to say a game like Rallisport Challenge 2 isn't highbrow?? First of all, its gorgeous and doesn't have anyone killing anyone else with a machette. And do you know what the bankroll of someone who is really into Rally racing is like? I mean if you can travel to another country or even another continent to see a race, you are not exactly sweating it.

Slashdot should filter out any article that has the word tipping point in it. Also, tipping points are not PROVIDED by anything. Fads (and the products and markets behind them) REACH a tipping point. Not mine, but: "Damn, why I always gotta be the busdriver? " Could another slashdotter provide the citation for this quote. It slips my mind.

  7. Simple Question on PS3 To Slow Game Industry Growth? · · Score: 2, Interesting

Here is a simple question... If you were Sony and you anticipated that - at the quantity of consoles you could provide - they were going to be selling at $800-$1000 on eBay this Christmas season, then what price point would you set the console at? Why not price it higher and line your own pocket instead of someone else's? Sure some demand will drop off because its not priced at $300, but those people weren't going to shell out to get one at the holiday season anyway. Plus the components will come down and then they can (and will) drop the price. If executed properly this is a good strategy - a profit maximizing strategy. If executed poorly, then the 3 in PS3 will be quite apropo.

  8. Gigs?? on Apple to Announce iTunes Movie Rentals? · · Score: 1

Lots of people are speculating that a movie will be gigs of data and that ISPs are going to freak out as a result. You can already download full 1 hour episodes of TV shows. Without commercials this is probably 40-44 minutes. Any reports that someone's ISP wouldn't take their money and give them a connection to the internet after they bought a season of a TV show on iTunes? Lots of movies come in at the 90 minute mark which is about the same as downloading 4 episodes of Scrubs or 2 episodes of Lost... (both popular on the iTunes video store) News Flash: The internet didn't breakdown when Apple started selling TV shows and it probably won't break down when they start selling/renting/whatever movies either.
