  1. "Automatic" Weapon? on Police Not Issuing Charges For Handgun-Firing Drone -- Feds Undecided · · Score: 0

I wonder if it fits into the category of automatic weapon. The hand gun obviously isn't, but if he just has a button to fire it and he can hold the button, then would it count as an automatic weapon? From the perspective of the remote, 1 trigger pull = continuous fire.

  2. Go for it on Ask Slashdot: Are Any Certifications Worth Going For? · · Score: 0

A lot of people don't think they are worth the time or money and that they don't prove you have any sort of knowledge or skill. That can be true, but that isn't the important part. The important part is whether or not they help you get the job you want. If a manager has a certification listed as a job requirement then it is valuable to have. I say go for any certifications that pertain to the job you want. Look for postings for those jobs and see if they mention certifications. If they do, get them.

I am a senior computer science major right now and I would say to go with Discreet structures with graph theory. If you have any sort of Formal Language Theory class it will be a great deal of help. It will also help with things like cryptography. It will mostly help with theory classes. If you do not have to take any theory then I would say you are just doing programming and not computer science in which case the other class may help more.

Not only does our CS department use it extensively, but it works with most campus services. I can connect to the wireless I can connect to the printers, though they can be picky so I keep a WinXP VM around I can use Open Office for my papers and send them in as PDFs I doubt you will run in to many problems and anything that is problematic can probably be resolved by using a computer lab

Something to keep in mind is that Scotland gets to decide in 2010 if they want to be a free country. That could be an interesting thing. I don't know what the Republic of Ireland is like as far as freedom, but I have visited it and it seems nice enough. If language isn't a problem I have heard some nice things about Germany, though I have also heard bad things. Switzerland could also be an option. Just some places to look into.

As a computer technician I say yes, absolutely.
I am a computer technician as well, and I would love to get $350/hr but I do think that is in excess. I have never encountered anything worth that much an hour. I personally found the course I took to learn the stuff very enjoyable and I find it fun to fix people's computers (so long as it isn't too severely messed up to the point of it needing a baseball bat to fix it). 25. Hm, it there something like this on Microsoft, Sue Me First · · Score: 1

Now as I understand it MS claims to have all of there patients in relation to software and such. Now if they do have all of these patents is it possible to prove legally that all of these patents cause MS to have some sort of monopoly on code? If they have enough patents that it makes it impossible to make new software without infringing one then I feel that falls under the definition of a monopoly: "a persistent market situation where there is only one provider of a product or service" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monopoly). Now if the product or service is code or programs, then I think we would have them. Of course this would require them to have a lot of patents. Does anyone see what I am getting at?
