I would suspect it wouldn't be a chip, possibly a QR code or something similar that the machine will read. The QR code will probably contain some sort of key which the machine will decode and determine if it matches some algorithm. And it will also probably contain some information about how to brew the coffee.
I recently figured this out. There is another site Ali Express which caters to individual buyers. All prices are listed along with delivery costs. It seems to have a nice filter / search function.,
Also if you are concerned about the equipment arriving and not working, there is buyer protection, where they will hold your money until you are satisfied withe purchase. I didn't have to use this so it may be difficult to get the refund, all I can say is I was satisfied with the service I got and I would use it again.

I dont think that this solution is going to do what you want. Lets pull out the calculator for a moment.
Lets say you decided to use 12V as you in-wall wiring standard, which would be fine (possibly) for the low voltage equipment you are running. But in order for a computer (200W approx) to run it would mean 17A of current which is approximately what current wall wiring will carry (at 240 VAC home circuits are fused at 10-30A), but you are running the wiring at maximum capacity which isn't a good idea. If you wanted to run a heater (2000W) that would mean 170A of current, which would require large impractical, expensive bus bars in the wall.
You could try increasing the voltage (say 120VDC) and this would mean that all the current wires would be ok, but you still require wall-warts for your devices, most phones run on 3-9V so require this voltage to charge, so you still require DC-DC converters, the only part you would be removing would be the rectifier. Also the danger would increase because as I understand (no experience with this sorry) if you held a high voltage DC line your muscles would grip and you can't let go, but with AC, because there is a zero crossing then you are able to release.
Finally, you could possibly run 2 sets of wiring, one as low voltage DC and one as high voltage AC but this increases the overall cost, and you sitll would need to determine which DC voltage would work best, otherwise electronic stuff would still require DC-DC power supplies.
I disagree with you and agree with the statement "US isn't laid-out for a public transportation infrastructure."
The reason that I agree with this ia from my recent travels in America. What I found was that American towns and cities are laid out very differently to how we do it back home (New Zealand). In NZ all the shops will be grouped together in locations in the suburbs and also main centers in cities, so you cna go to a single location to get groceries, banking, fast food, petrol, post shop, resturants etc... But in America they seemed to have placed shops all over the place, seemingly wherever there was space. So if you wanted to do a number of different things you would need to go to a number of different locations making it more convenient to use a car than public transport, as it is not very nice to have to get on an off a number of different buses/trains with a number of packages.
I doubt if much of the additions put in this wiki will be actually used in creating the new Police Act, this is basically a PR campaign on the part of the NZ Police.
In the last few years the Police and therefore the Police act have been called into question because of a few incidents ( High profile court cases of Police being involved in inappropriate sex acts (including the Assistant Commissioner Clint Rickards),deaths in Police transport vehicles etc). In order to raise to public perception of the Police and to put out a new face and a new front this new Police Act is being drafted. By making it into a wiki this allows the police to make people feel that they are able to fix the problems with the police and then if something goes wrong again later the police can point at the wiki and say "Look, you helped create the law, it is partially your fault" allowing them to blame shift.
With the game being called Simcity societies I imagine that it may involve a large number of cities or suburbs all linked in some way. This leads me to believe that it may be a quasi online version of simcity, some of the micro-management removed to make it easier to deal with the increase in diplomacy with other neighboring cities which are controlled by other players in a sort of MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer online City Simulator)
The difference is the scale on which the spying is being done.
If i was to slip a few dollars from someones pocket i would expect less punishment than if i was to go through a bunch of bags and steal all the money from them, just as someone who simply looks at some private information on a private computer would expect must less punishment that someone who came up with an automated method of spying on millions of people at once.
A question i was wondering about. Firstly would this result in eveerything that it launches all ending up orbiting near each other, it would be useful for building a space station i guess but what about beyond that.
Anyone out there got any ideas for anything that should have been in there but they missed?
Mine is Dont have selection boxes with just yes no and canel on them, make them more informative such as is in linux, ie Save File and Discard, Don't Close and Save.
I would like to send a congratulations to the team and NASA. I know that for most of us (myself included) this is an exciting moment, as we can now study this face in depth even more, just what I always wanted. Bt seriously you would think that there would be better stuff on mars that they could be studying with the rover than the 'face'
(IAAAEE, I am almost an electronic engineer) From my understanding there is only laser diodes of certain wavelengths avaliable so this would limit the number of avaliable layers in your scheme. Also since each laser would need to focus at a different depth in the disc you would need seperate optics for each laser or possibly moving the laser/optics as you changed levels which would make a layer changes a slow process.
Finally (again from what I understand, correct me if I am wrong) the cost of the Laser Diodes (especially exotic ones such as blue) is a large part of the cost of a disc reader, so by adding more Lasers the cost to read and write the disc would go up quite alot.
I use something with similar features to wht you want. Clarkconnect can do alot of this stuff (granted it is a commercial distro of linux, but there is a free version for download which I use) It is easy to set up, only takes about half an hour, and I am currently running it on a 700MHz machine and it work quickly.
Something Similar for me, I am a sound tech for my church and on the sound desk after a while all the meters start reading a swound even when there isn't (probably a dc voltage), if you hit the desk at the right point it fixes the problem.
I think that evolution does actually undermine my religion of christianity, but not in the way some say (ie we are not the most important etc). If evolution was true it would mean that there was death and sufferent before people existed. They way that the bible states it is that there was no death or suffering before people came into the world, this was only introduced when sin came into the world.
So if there was death before humans were in the world this would mean that there was sin before people, and so no reason for sin and no reason for anybody to end up going to hell, thus undermining a large chuck of my religion.
I am not opposed to evolution simply for this reason but I believe that, based on the facts that I know, evolution requires as much faith if not more than creation.
Just thinking about the positives from this, another advantage would be the ability to put more cars in the same shaft. Too many people needing to be moved around, just add another car. The only problem here would be which levels any car could go to at anypoint, but i guess some computers would be able ot figure that out pretty well.

Yes it does funnily enough.

Dear Unknown Nationality
The grandparent post is actually liking to an average tackle from a sport calle Rugby League (Or league for short).
I would guess it would be likely to be 3 colours, each with that can be set to 16 different levels (4 bit)

Hey, leave us out of this learn to deal with your own mess, us Kiwis are quite happy down here.

Blu-Ray - Enough space to store your whole familys DNA!!
Just hope the DRM isn't cracked or people could clone my whole family, DAMN...Too Late
Looks like we have a member of the 0.16% here on /.
$12.50 x 4 = $50

I think you misspelt Australian
In talking about iPod killers/replacements, anyone have any idea of the best portable music player for an audiophile?
It would need to play lossless audio and also have a great output sound.

So they made a version of linux with interrupts?

Maybe an even broader question, is terorrism a yummy treat?
