I haven't read TFA, or all of the posts, but Will Meugniot was the executive producer of Exosquad. I don't know much about his other work, but in my opinion, this is good news for fans of Dragonlance.
What's funny is that, by now, probably more people have preordered the PS3 than are likely to receive them at launch. Looks like the $600 price tag may not hurt Sony too much, after all. I'm interested to see how this will all turn out.
But the way he's saying it makes it sound like he's doing us consumers a favor by selling it so "cheap." No one is going to think that $600 is a bargain because Sony is losing money.
The PS2 is my sole DVD player, and I use it to this day. But no way am I shelling out $600 for blu-ray when I won't be able to see a difference on my TV. I've had this sinking feeling for a while now, and this E3 deal confirmed it: Sony is shooting themselve in the foot, big-time.
I would probably consider myself a Sony fan, but... $600? Too cheap? Who are you trying to kid. People who don't mind paying this much will buy it, people who don't have the money won't. No one will go, "hey, that guy said it was 'too cheap,' I'd better get in on it before they change their minds!"
Bottom line, I probably will not buy the PS3 for a good long while. And don't even bring up that crippled "cheap" version...
Look at it this way: if you spend $15 for a subscription fee (or however much) instead of buying a $60 game that month, then that's $45 that could be considered "siphoned off."
I have no idea how widespread this is (I don't play WoW myself), but that's how I interpret the question, and I think it makes a valid point.
But if that were the case, medievalist and feminist film critics wouldn't have anything to overanalyze, and thus would be out of, er... work. So clearly that can't be the explanation...

Haven't you heard? It is now 'Mount Zune'...

See you in 2012.
Funniest comment I've seen in a while...
Expect to see this headline: PlayStation 2 Outselling PlayStation 3
Sure, if that's what you want to call it...
(And yes, I know who The Wiggles are.)
Welcome to /.
I think you mean Grand Theft AutoCAD.

Depending on the context, "Go" and "Wii (wee)" are not that unrelated. ;)
You know, I had a tough time figuring out what that headline was supposed to mean...
The Saturn is only cheaper than the non-crippled version of the PS3. The $600 'beats' it by $75. Ouch.
He's referring to your comment on the "$400 PS3."
You read it here first, folks, indesputable evidence that the PS3 will get you laid...
No, I admit I haven't. The statement was made tongue-in-cheek and shouldn't be taken too seriously.
But the way he's saying it makes it sound like he's doing us consumers a favor by selling it so "cheap." No one is going to think that $600 is a bargain because Sony is losing money.
Yeah, we're getting into fois gras/escargot territory. Stuff that may be fancy but no one in their right mind would want to eat. ;)

Wait, wait, wait... you're comparing breasts in video games... to racism and the holocaust???
As a philosophy professor of mine once stated it: "If man were meant to go to the moon, we'd all be pissing rocket fuel."
But if that were the case, medievalist and feminist film critics wouldn't have anything to overanalyze, and thus would be out of, er... work. So clearly that can't be the explanation...
Just in case, just in case...
