You have a flaw in your math. You stated that you would have 3.5 trucks made of solid gold. You failed to account for the difference in density between steel/aluminum/plastic and solid gold. Just for the sake of simplicity we'll say that the density of the materials in a Ford F150 average out to a little less than the density of steel. Conveniently this works out to right around 1 cubic meter of solid material. A cubic meter of solid gold weighs 19,300Kg, so you would be looking at only about 1/3 of a truck.

Maintaining a DDR dance pad is a time-consuming (but thankfully infrequent) thing. As dirt works its way into the mechanism, the dancer's actions pulverize it into a super fine dust that coats every surface of the device. It takes about 2 hours with a screwdriver and a shop vac to maintain the thing, but if it's done regularly problems almost never arise. I admit that I'm impressed with the robustness of the whole thing.

As soon as Obama takes office, prepare for the heralds to sing: The recession is over! We are winning in Iraq! Global warming has reversed!

As far as the "recession" goes, if history is any indicator we only have a few months of it left anyway. All we need now is a few executives being charged with various crimes to appease the masses and life will go on.

As a technician, RoHS is the bane of my existence. It doesn't flow right, it doesn't wet right, and it doesn't cool right.

Because RoHS solder is not a true eutectic alloy it tends to separate when thermal conditions aren't precisely right. As a consequence, many manufacturers had huge runs of products that stayed soldered just long enough to get out the door and frequently out of warranty.

I hope someone comes up with a better substitute soon because I am sick and tired of cracked solder, cracked solder, and cracked solder.
