Michio Kaku did a great show about time for the BBC and at the end of one episode he asked young/old people to count 60 seconds. The older people consistently counted for much longer than the actual minute while younger people consistently counted much faster.
According to the summary they're not remote updating but cutting off access if you don't update the firmware - a bit different. Though I didn't RTFA as it's just a forum...
Well first thing that comes to mind is D-Link and Linksys with their "airboost" and whatever the other one was called. Want to take advantage of the faster speeds you need a specific router or wifi-card/usb dongle/whatever...
In general I agree with you but Netflix does support non-windows machines as evidenced by their Roku support and I seriously doubt they're running Silverlight.
There's a way to watch/play mythtv recordings/live tv on xbmc using the myth:// protocol. I find that xbmc works a lot better than myth for existing media and don't bother running the mythtv frontend.
I seriously can't understand how someone could even photoshop that and go 'Well, looks like my work is done here' or the marketing guy who ok'd the final product...sheesh
The problem with that is when you have a train from La to Vegas it just means money can leave the state that much faster. I can't understand why Vegas itself hasn't gotten around to building a rail in that direction...
The article stated that they broke into his car to install it - probably somewhere within the engine. Not sure if it has an onboard battery or if it used the car's power system. I wonder if you found it and removed it what the repercussions would be.
Wouldn't it be better to use 0.0.0.0 instead of 127.0.0.1? The latter attempts to connect while the former doesn't bother. And it helps when you're running a local server:)
This linkshows a method of growing it vertically so allow optimal light exposure which apparently allows for greater growth (not sure how practical it is but at least it doesn't have to take much surface area)
...I would think that the very act of finding "prior art" (the very fact they found an invention) as described in this system would invalidate any patent attempt of the trade-secret...
I meant that these companies have no products to sell that they make in the real world. Sure you can buy a car in the virtual world but since the cost to produce the car is just time and no materials or what-have-you, someone can just make it cheaper (or even steal your design) and then you lose your brand. So real companies can't really be as strong as they are in the real world. Thus really...nothing to sell...
...quieted down because the people who play second life or other such games don't *want* business to intrude in their virtual world. There's nothing to sell in virtual worlds because someone else can make the same "virtual object" and sell it cheaper so all it becomes is another advertising tool which seems to me that people are trying to avoid by going to a virtual world.
''The first and perhaps most obvious is collaboration. This includes holding real-time meetings in the worlds with each member participating via an avatar. It can be a big cost saver, as it removes the need to fly workers around the globe.''
seriously? And document collaboration in a virtual world? give me a break. There is much better software out there that does this a million times better...just doesn't have the 3d graphics...
This guy probably bought a bunch of patents on this crap and is just trying to drum up interest for this...nothing more
But I know nothing and the replies to this will probably refute or state what I'm attempting to state much better.
...I really don't want to visit Britain anymore. I read a while back about mandatory biometric scanning of tourists and from there it just gets progressively worse. Shame too since it really seems like a nice place to visit in terms of history. Oh well...
The one thing that comes to mind is separate the services from the pipes. One company owns all the pipes everyone else can then offer whatever services they want over those pipes...tv...internet...whatever. This would eliminate the need for the company to worry about anything but infrastructure.
It sounds more like the schools are trying to raise the average grade of the school system to get more money for funding. It doesn't really sound like they give a damn about the students just to make sure they can afford their salaries...I'm sure hope I'm wrong.
Um...yes, I went through *MY* options. Not yours. And where I live now and where I lived 1 year ago they're still the same options. (two completely different states and two very large cities) Since my business runs on high speed internet I must get the highest speeds I can at the most reasonable price. I don't use residential service because of stuff like caps and business accounts aren't capped (yet). Just because some people might have options does not mean all have options. If there were true competition we'd probably be on par with countries like Korea but when you have no competition there's no real incentive to improve now is there?

In colder climates you could start the car to warm it up before you venture outside or you could possibly have the AC running in hotter climates.

At what point do the competitors have to take responsibility for purchasing the data? It seems that they should have known the data wasn't kosher.

...does this mean I can create my own football game using the likeness/names of the players without having to license the information? (
He actually got 2 more PhDs while in prison. (I forget what they were for though)
Sounds like the movie "Next".

unless you use a knife
What? Like Diebold?
