    it just seems to me that the imperfection of anything man-made will only ever get you at best a 99.9% solution. Just use some common sense and pick your software and hardware carefully to close that gap as much as possible.

    to take certain angle analagies too far:

    doing a 90 = taking the first reaction to any situation, be it the best or worst reaction

    doing a 270 = taking the last reaction to any situation, be it the best or worst reaction

    doing a 540 (thats 360+180;) = taking the opposite position after first taking the same stupid position a second time

    i'm with you there, I have a All-in-wonder that I would LOVE to use in Linux with MythTV. unfortunately the only thing the all-in-wonder can do in linux without some hacks is just be a regular video card. bring me tuner support you crazies at ATI!

    walmart has no concern over whether a 17 year old's parents don't want them to play a game, but whether or not its legal to sell that game to a 17 year old. Honestly if a 17 year old lets his parents treat him like a 12 year old, then I don't think there's any hope for that kid in any case.

    why else would people pay for in-game money in MMOG's? Or for power-leveling, or for characters already at level 60? Don't enjoy life too much? Buy an expensive car or house, have the best stereo system and 64" LCD TV, make your kids go to Harvard, etc etc etc.

    Its sad, but so many people believe it actually makes them happy. More of a vicious cycle I say.

    one of Apple's reasons for having a default of one-button (Macs have supported multi-button mice, and programs for graphic designers, etc.) is to ensure that software designers didn't hide functionality behind right-clicks, etc. Everything should be visible, and accessible through menus at the top of the screen or icons on the screen.

    which is why right click enabled actions are simply replaced by Command-Click actions. Now you actually have to use two hands to do the same action. brilliant ;) I'm not trying to give Apple a hard time, I just fail to see why it took so long to create a wireless mouse of this design, when wireless mice have been around for a looooong time now.

    its too bad that not all PS2's actually play DVDs as well as the Xbox (360) or some standard DVD players can. I even have one of those slimline PS2's and I can't watch more than half of any movie before it stutters and soon after just plain freezes. I have heard others who have similar problems, though its not necessarily a problem with ALL PS2's.
