I thought it would be something cool like the glasses had a HUD showing the waveform it is hearing.

Oh yeah! Imagine a HUD in the glasses displaying a real-time logarithmically scaled spectrogram of the sound, and that somehow you would have learn to understand what people say from looking at it, that'd be awesome. The main problem is that even if you could do that, it would be quite hard concentrating on a spectrogram that would block your sight and do anything else at the same time.

  6. Fake GUI's? on Apple And The Boob Tube · · Score: 1
Sorry for being slightly off-topic, but maybe someone could at last answer me this. When you see a Mac on TV, you see Mac OS, whether it's classic like in Sex & The City and Independance Day or OS X like in um... can't think of any. Anyways whenever you see a PC, not only it's never Windows' GUI, but it's never KDE, GNOME or even Black/Open/Flushbox.

So, why do you see either Mac GUI's or totally fake GUI's, and then, since you never see the same fake GUI's, is there some kind of GUI-creating industry in Hollywood? I'm not even asking about the funny lil sounds that goes with them because for these they don't bother creating them, they just take them from Deus Ex

  7. People love macs, but they don't know yet on Mass Microsoft Defections to Apple Possible · · Score: 1
I only hope this is not too off-topic. Something funny happened yesterday. Well I got several PC's in my house, but my 16 year old sister's is the only one with SSE2 and SSE3, so I've been plugin an unused hard disk into it a couple of weeks ago and installed Mac OS 10.4.5. I have some issues with it, some stuff isn't recognized well, mainly the graphic card and so the screen's refresh rate is stuck at 60 Hz (on a CRT, it's a pain in the eyes), and on it, there's hardly anything but Firefox

But yesterday, I had the great surprise to see my sister sitting at her computer, she had just played with Mac OS X a little and she just told me she wished to use Mac OS X as her main OS, to put eMule on Mac OS X and that she'd boot into Windows only to play games. I mean come on, she played with it for barely 1 hour, there's pretty much nothing installed, the monitor refresh rate is stuck at 60 Hz and after years of use of Windows she wants to give it up so quick for an OS she has played with for a real short time?

That was definitly surprising, I think it only illustrates how seductive a Macintosh can be, and now that you can boot Windows in it, it's only making it safer to buy a Macintosh without wondering if you're doing the right choice. The only problem I see is that people would need to mess around with Mac OS X for at least a little while before being seduced, but damn, if they can be convinced as fast as my 16-year old sister and feel safe about buying a Mac over a PC, Apple's market share is ready to double.

Besides the time it took me to find out how to find out of water, or how to slowly smash the lil black worms, this game is like, either try to find out by yourself what you gotta do, or follow a walkthrough and do what you're told to do. It's like it's not a game, it's more like you're watching a show and you gotta find which buttons to press to get to the next scene. That's how it felt to me

While it's kind of cool, the one thing that disappointed me is that it was based on projection and not a screen. Regardless of the costs and technical challenge it may cause, projection over a backlit LCD screen has the big disadvantage of having undisplayed areas (where your shadow is) and although it doesn't seem like a problem in the demonstartion video, I see it as limitating the comfort of this whole thing.

Matter of fact we know mostly any big moon of the solar system better than Mercury and Pluto put together, even arguably Triton
