  2. Satellite communication is only required for long distance pager networks. A pager network with a local coverage can be done on site along with the other IT infrastructure. The antenna can even be installed on site as well depending on the coverage needs. Pager networks do not require public infrastructure at all.

    While towers tall enough for line of sight is ideal, microwave communication can also occur with what is called Tropospheric Scatter. This is a propagation mode where signals are transmitted above the horizon of the receiving station. Some of the energy is reflected by water vapor back to the receiving station completing the link. Troposcatter links can work for a few hundred miles and used to link remote communities such as Nome, Alaska. A troposcatter link was also used to connect West Berlin to West Germany during the cold war since cables could not be laid on East German Territory.

    As of 2016 Sony has discontinued ALL 1/2 inch formats, this includes HDCAM and HDCAM SR which were the HD versions of Betacam (1440x1080 for HDCAM full 1920x1080 for HDCAM SR).

    THIS is a major fault of the Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP. DC in uses the same socket (and some of the same PINS) as headphone out. Headphone and DC in operation on the GBA SP is Mutually exclusive, hopefully Apple will think of this.

    Under Federal Law you can as an individual manufacture a firearm without a serial number or a FFL, HOWEVER, you may not transfer the firearm to another owner and the firearm must still follow the regulations set out in the National Firearms act (meaning you still need to get a tax stamp to make a short barreled shotgun).

    I work with someone who started an IT career in their mid 30s in an entry level (help desk) position. I've seen people retire from IT from the same help desk, the same as I've seen people advance to other parts of the company and other government agencies. At 28 I'm actually the second youngest on our team. When I say help desk that's just the beginning too. We do production monitoring as well as being system operators.

    You are NOT too old to start in IT!

    THIS is exactly why this isn't a perfect solution! Not only do they have to use ARU which is more costly per transaction, they would have to process it as card not present as they can't imprint on the card. If I had mod points I would mod the parent up.

    Nope, Turn off iMessage on the iDevice before wiping or tossing. Been there, done that.

    Bloomberg as always is full of it. Coal miners aren't dumb people, they are far from it. I suggest you try and find the Spike TV mini-series entitled "Coal." You will learn quite a bit about mining coal from it.

    First I'm an NRA member myself. Second I didn't read the article, but by the summary this was in no way a self defense shooting and the perp should rot in jail. I am one that believes that self defense is a right granted by God the same way that freedom of speech and freedom of expression is granted. Wasting a life because somebody got pissed is not a good excuse. Now when it comes to movies personally I only go to the drive-in or watch Blu-Ray anymore and I even turn off my phone at the drive in as I don't want the distraction. The last time I was in a regular theater was 2007 when I watched The Simpsons Movie.

    I assumed a maximum power consumption of 30 watts and I think that is pushing it. If the printer for some reason is in graphics mode you are looking at a minute or two per page and event at 30 watts you risk depleting batteries.

    Line printers??? Do you realize how much power those things take? I'm assuming he has a power budget of 30 watts or less. If it wasn't for that restriction I'd tell him to go with a good dot matrix printer.

    I don't think there is a modern printing technology that can meet the requirements. Lets take a look.

    Dot Matrix Impact is out due to excessive power.
    Thermal is out due to longevity issues of both supplies and the actual printouts.
    Laser/LED is out, again due to excessive power.
    Daisy Wheel is out due to lack or printer availability. Not sure about power.
    Ink Jet would only be feasible if you can find one that takes cheap ink, these take little power.

    WWVH also operates on those frequencies. It is possible to hear both at the same time with good conditions and a good antenna. As a user of HF spectrum this is a valuable resource.
