People do come up with new things. Farscape, Babylon 5, Firefly, Stargate, Lexx,...
My point exactly. I love Firefly and B5, and heard many good things about Farscape and Lexx, I live in Brazil, so it is not all shows that get to cross the americas. So, since there are good shows being created in a rather successful manner, there is no reason to make this movies, just because they know it will sell.
ps.If Ben Affleck, Chris Rock, Jason Mewes or Kevin Smith appears in the flick, even as a cameo, then I would have a reason to see it:P
Why not make a series where a crew get to go out of the galaxy. In the Star Trek Universe our galaxy was seeded with life that would generally turn out humanoid. That saves on special effects, but now that is not a problem.
Let's get this straight from the start:I am not a troll. I really like the ST Universe, and liked a lot TNG and DS9, but here's a crazy idea: let's create something new. A new sc-fi series, with new characters and new stories and it is not based on a universe that lasted for 40 years. I think Star Trek survived till today even with some bump and bruises along the way, but how about using a bit of creativity?
In my humble opnion, if the FSF starts adding restrictions to its licenses, it will be loosing the 'Free' part of its name. Because free means that you can do anything you want, including somethign you disagree, like adding limitations to the software you are developing. A software license shouldn't tell you how to build or develop your software, only how to distribute it.
As a matter of fact, this denial to DRM in the GPL uses the exact same philosophy that they are so against, the license is forbidding the user from taking specific actions. I am completely against DRM, I think it's one of the most stupid an idiotic ideas ever implemented, but you have to allow people to choose what they want to do.

If it was a honest complaint, they would sue Sony, Motorola, and all other audio player company, because every single portable player i have seen divides the songs in a tree like structure of artists, albumns and tracks. And do you know why this happens? Because it is the obvious way to organize music.
First, there is the definition of what the name "South America" means. The definition is clear: South America has this name because it is in the south of the three Americas, named after Amerigo Vespucci, so "South" in South America is in fact a qualifier, even if "South America" is considered a noun.
Second, since there isn't until now a good way to refer to someone that lives in the USA, it is used "american", since it is in one of the Americas. Furthermore, with the continued use of these term, it became common to associate "american" with "people who lives in the United States of America", but that doesn't mean the ones that live in the USA are the only ones that are entitled to call themselves americans. I for one, live in Brazil, and I am an American as much as any one that lives in any country of the Latin America, Central America, Mexico, Canada, or any other american country not mentioned here.
Therefore, if you truely want to see this predicament to end, someone must create a term to designate specifcally the people from the USA, like "unitians" or "USians" or whatever is more approprate.
Sincerely,
An American.
Have any of you store owners genius thought that the damn thing is too expensive? I will give an example of what happens here in Brazil. A new original CD is about R$50-70, and the pirate is down to R$10, in someplaces you can find for R$5, that's at least 10 times less. Do you see the difference? If the record labels sold the CDs at a competitive price, say R$15-20, almost everyone would buy the legal copies, because it's a bit more expensive, but you are honoring the artist, I don't say "paying the artist" because I know labels pay at most 10% of the CD price, so 99,9% of all artists and bands get their money from the tours.
And the labels are not interested in ending, piracy, because then, they wouldn't have any "arguments" to use these absurd prices and to impose "protection measures" such as the wonderful DRM: "Look, I don't want to do this, but the piracy don't let me lower the prices" or "We must use DRM to protect ourselves from piracy", That's bullshit. Mod me down, if you want, but that's still bullshit.
Will you please stop calling these applications Web 2.0? This is a meaningless and uninformative name. Why not call them Web Applications, or Dynamic Sites, or something that actually describes what these sites have in common.
This is really a good step. Now, they need to realize that there are people who live outside the USA that would like to buy music. I for one, live in Brazil, and although there are some local music sites like yahoo and a couple others, all of them still uses WMA with DRM.
The US "doesn't do anything" about China, because they they can't just go invading the country like they did in Iraq. You know what they say, respect the guy that can point a nuclear weapon to the white house.
MS should hire this guy as an "Engagement manager":
-I will count to 10, if you don't make a deal with us, I will shoot her...one...two...
-You will never get what you want!
-You don't think I'll do it!?...three...four

Yes there is. Just ask Microsoft how its reputation is nowadays thanks to all the publicity they have.
They could have the first console that says "Nii"...This way, no one would stand in their way. and the controllers could be called shrubberies...hehehe
Why all this surprise? It is only logical that they would create something more diabolicaly annoying than the automatic update service. And they will probably keep stealing focus from your full-width application and crashing it to warn you that you're a bad, bad little boy.
Adventures from LucasArts like Loom, Monkey Island, Day of The Tentacle, adn Grim Fandango will always have a special place in my heart. They are as old as text adventure games, but they were definitely innovative, from a time that LucasArts had good stories, not just the "let's-sell-everything-related-to-StarWars-that-we -can-think-of" idea that we see today.
Why people keep comparing apples and oranges? The main difference between PINE and Gmail is that the latter has a graphic interface. People should use whatever works best for them.

Zed: Bring out the Gimp.
Maynard: But the Gimp's sleeping.
Zed: Well, I guess you're gonna have to go wake him up now, won't you?

anything like their "war on terrorism"? Are they going to liberate users from malefic pirates?

Yes, but now they're building this new cluster to figure out The Fundamental Question to 42. :P
because the first one was such a terrific idea, wasn't it?

Wouldnt' it be nice if someone released a multi-functional that reads both formats? Problem solved.

Does anyone have a link to the actual article, instead of somebody's blog?
that wants my porn without DRM?
I'm sorry, but didn't MS support HD-DVD from the start? What's teh surprise that Vista will be HD-DVD friendly?
