After acquiring a spaceship, I fully plan on plotting a course to the black hole's event horizon. I wonder how the game will model that experience... You can do that with the demo on their website.
Not only that, but you don't need a Slashdot account to view the content on Slashdot. (Reminds me of the Anonymous vs. CoS debate, actually...)
I really hope that Facebook doesn't change this policy, because it reinforces my complete lack of desire/temptation to start using (much less join) Facebook.
RTFQ, I know what the EU is. I am asking who is acting on behalf of/within the EU in these investigations/pursuits of MS, and how the investigations are instigated.
When articles such as these say "The EU is investigating Microsoft", who is it that's doing the investigation? Who is instigating this investigation and/or how is it decided to pursue MS?
Yahoo already does (did) this. When they forced me to upgrade to the new and "improved" Yahoo portal (after long holding onto the old version; I'm still using the old mail interface), at first it refused my SeaMonkey browser because it wasn't IE or FF.
Eventually, they added a button that let me go anyway, and accept any risk that it wouldn't render 100% properly.
Hotmail is now totally obsolete IMHO and they treat their customers like dog crap. This is obviously planned by Microsoft. They are about to buy Yahoo to "try" to compete. I haven't seen the numbers in a while, but isn't Hotmail the most popular webmail service by far? If it's still true, then this particular argument of yours is nonsense.
That pandora sounds a lot like what I use Yahoo! Music Canada for. Unfortunately they are US only:
Dear Pandora Visitor,
We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative.
We believe that you are in Canada (your IP address appears to be xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx). If you believe we have made a mistake, we apologize and ask that you please contact us at pandora-support@pandora.com
If you are a paid subscriber, please contact us at pandora-support@pandora.com and we will issue a pro-rated refund to the credit card you used to sign up. If you have been using Pandora, we will keep a record of your existing stations and bookmarked artists and songs, so that when we are able to launch in your country, they will be waiting for you.
We will be notifying listeners as licensing agreements are established in individual countries. If you would like to be notified by email when Pandora is available in your country, please enter your email address below. The pace of global licensing is hard to predict, but we have the ultimate goal of being able to offer our service everywhere.
We share your disappointment and greatly appreciate your understanding.
Sincerely,
Tim Westergen

Yahoo still works for now, so I'll wait until it stops working to shop around for the other ones listed elsewhere in the comments.
Okay, so assuming projects like this cancelled one can deal with the environmental impacts of burning coal...
What about the environmental damage caused by the *extraction* of coal. I mean, I know the Earth is full of the stuff, but mining it (usually open-pit mines) tends to do a hefty amount of damage, doesn't it?
You can buy a shit load of grid tied windmills for 1.8 billion dollars... Yes, but the fact is coal companies (who were supporting this FutureGen project) probably wouldn't.
But, let's be realistic, it would be a PR suicide attempt for the NFL to sue a church. Indeed, it might linger in the collective conscience and lead to a boycott of NFL games--perhaps for as long as six or seven months!
if a country like Pakistan (and i live in Karachi, Pakistan) can work almost unaffected (we did had an outage for 3-6 ours in some parts including our part of the city) how can India, which has the biggest outsourcing and call center businesses running can't do the same... FTAS, it seems fairly clear that Pakistan has had a major outage before. So it would seem natural to conclude that Pakistan learned from Pakistan's outage, but India didn't.
Now, India can perhaps add more lines, or it might decide that additional redundancy is not worth the expense, or isn't a priority.
After installing the demo, turn off your monitor.

In fact, my house is so futuristic, it looks normal on the inside too!

Has someone's life been destroyed by the inability to delete their Facebook account? If so, can we somehow get Maury or Oprah to cover it?

So, essentially, what you're saying is "you can check out, but you can never leave"?

So the moral value of an empirical fact is dependent on the motivation behind the action that caused the act? Is this not the ad hominem fallacy?
I would have assumed a fact to be a moral singularity.

Unlimited = no limits to how many arbitrary "constraints" Yahoo may place on the customer.

Ah, it finally makes sense why my coach always used to say "There is no i in Kansas."

How many /.ers are US voters, though?
(Actually, that would make for an interesting poll. "I voted for Bush" can be the CowboyNeal option.)

The thing with prostitutes is that you don't pay them to stay, you pay them to leave.
Bringing them up to the ISS for extended periods would defeat the point.

My guess is it's just being rerouted through Digg and Fark, and it'll all be over soon.
/. might get routed through Myspace!
That is, I sure hope it does. One more underwater cable gets cut, and

It must be new, because I don't see it under the "customize styles" options in the Slashdotter extension.
Even more annoying, because this is the first time I wanted to use that function!
