I didn't realise Moore's Law was purely the driving force behind CPU development and not just an observation on semiconductor development. Surely we just say Moore's Law held until a certain point, then someone else's Law takes over?
As for Phlogiston theory - it was just that, a theory which was debunked.
I'm from Yorkshire and I would pronounce historic as "istoric" and would, for example say "a nistoric event". I'd also pronounce hypervisor "iypervisor" or refer to one as "a nypervisor".
Northern English accents tend to not pronounce the h at the beginning of words.
Obviously he would say all the money was for keeping the site running, saying anything else would have harmed his case. If you look at the userbase it's easy to see how he got it - 180,000 people dropping the odd few quid over 3 years would mount up quickly.
I have mixed feelings about him walking away with all that cash. Maybe I'm just surprised and a little jealous he could rack that much money up.
Maybe he should have donated some of the excess or disabled donations once he was above running costs, I don't know. But in reality I think if any of you put yourselves in the shoes of a 23 year old with money piling in like it was for him, you'd be thinking 'fuck yeh!' - I know I would.
They also knew at that stage the cloning would be a success. The scientists came in in the morning and found the test tube rack had somehow moved closer to the Morphine cupboard.
I thought it was ok but fairly over hyped and I really don't understand all the 'controversy' over the little sisters thing.
As for three different endings, could you be bothered to finish it three times? I couldn't, the game started to drag towards the end the first time round.
It was the SNES controller that sprang to my mind before seeing your comment. That and I think the Gamecube controller are probably the best ones. I find that the PS/Xbox controllers always make my hands ache after playing for a while and I can never use them as instinctively as the Nintendo pads.
The Inca designed their buildings with sloping walls and trapezoidal windows and doors - an early 'earthquake proof' design.
Apparently the random interlocking of stones was more to do with them a) showing their prowess at stoneworking and b) a natural consequence of working huge lumps of stone (why bother carving them into brick shapes). It's not the best picture but you can see an example here.
A great example of this type of construction is in Cusco. The Spanish built their own building over an Inca temple (I think it was the temple of moon, sun and stars) which they failed to tear down as they had done with most others. Years later there was a huge earthquake and the Spanish building collapsed to reveal the Inca temple which only suffered a few minor cracks.
It's funny you mention psychohistory. I just watched the finale at a friends house and on the way home I was thinking I quite liked the way that everyones destiny had been shaped in a way, but where had I heard that before? The Foundation series popped in my head just as I sat down to read this. I quite enjoyed the finale. I think it tied up enough of the loose ends for me to be satisfied, and probably was done as well as it could be considering how in my opinion, the last series had really started to unravel.
On another note, I just put the telly on and there was a wildlife documentary on Africa. I really really really did want to see them come across a burnt out raptor and Tigh staggering around with a bottle of moonshine calling everything a frakking toaster:-)
I've been really happy with my Virgin connection. I've never had an unannounced loss of service and my downloading speeds stay pretty constant, though not near the actual speed of the advertised package im on. I get my broadband and tv through a cable point which I think would increase the reliability?
I agree that I would rather have my speed throttled than penalised in some other way. The only bummer is when you hit your limit when there's only a small part of a file left to go and you have to wait another hour for it to trickle through.
I also noticed I was getting 800k/s download speeds the other night and then got an email from Virgin telling me they had upgraded my broadband speed for free, so I can't complain too much.
Im assuming the astronauts are tethered to the shuttle or you must have some will power to stop the urge to lunge too hard and end up floating off yourself?

Interesting to see whether it tails off in the next week or so though. I installed Chrome, had a quick test on a few websites then uninstalled it as I'm happy using Opera. I'll probably try it again a few months down the line when it has been improved/bugfixed etc. How many of that initial percentage will do the same as me I wonder?
It probably depends on your own physiology and the type of game you are playing, but some people can get themselves into the 'zone' after a few joints. I play racing games a lot better after a few spliffs but play other games a lot worse.
They probably could, but it is still sheer stupidity to post things like that on Facebook or any other site for that matter: Loose lips sink ships!

I wonder if it's cheaper for standing only?
Yep, It was only 12% of the world population until he lost weight - proof thin people have more friends.
Tweeting first, what next... Spacebook?

Do you normally ask for extra retard on your Pizza or is today special?
Hey man, they like to take their time, you know, not Russian to things.
But, Sony haven't actually distributed the music. They have merely burnt 6,000 backup copies. That's probably how they will get away with it.

But like you say, people have different tastes.

No, but it's certainly enough time to stop the mail and add another 'FUCK YOU' to the end.

"I firmly believe that Daniel Petric had no idea at the time he hatched this plot that if he killed his parents, they would be dead forever."
The Spawn Point defence should be filed along with the Chewbacca defence in the big book of crazy law.
I flew AirTrans once. The stewardesses didn't half have deep voices.
They turned into Dwayne Johnson

You could coat ping pong balls in it and fire Thai ladies across the room.
That reminds me of the Spectrum game 3D Ant Attack and its title screen - for years I thought it was written by Sandy White and Pat Pending :)
Footage is here :)
