    it does not require you to enter CDKeys, or the 3rd word of the 5th paragraph on page 37 of the manual... additionally, it does not fall over if your internet is temporarily out or if the company's server takes a dive... you can take you disc to your mates house and know that you can put it in his console and it will work

    If the copy protection for PC's was 'invisible' no-one would care... unfortunately, due to the 'open' nature of PC's, I do not see this happening anytime soon.

    If you're using Firefox 2, you can create your own OpenSearch Plugin.

    I was lazy, and couldnt be bothered doing it myself, so I used IE7 Add search providers functionality... and clicked on the 'View XML' link.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <OpenSearchDescription xmlns="http://a9.com/-/spec/opensearch/1.1/">

    <InputEncoding>UTF-8</InputEncoding><Url type="text/html" template="http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&amp ;q={searchTerms}&amp;meta="/>
    </OpenSearchDescrip tion>

    Note that /. is screwing with the code above, so it may not work if you copy/paste, and that firefox doesnt seem to want to open the 'View XML' link... but IETab fixes that problem. You can also add a fancy little icon by following the format on the OpenSearch page linked above

    Then you just put the XML into the searchplugins directory... something like (if you're using Windows):

    C:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[ProfileName]\search plugins

    This is the system used here in New Zealand by Trademe. If there is a higher bid placed in the last 2 minutes, the auction 'auto-extends' by 2 minutes.

    This makes sniping pretty much impossible, as if my maximum was $35 and the auction was sitting at $23 and someone came in with 7 seconds to go and tried to snipe at $24, my earlier bid would kick in and they would more than likely be unable to get another shot at it before the 7 seconds expired.

    If they came in at 7 seconds to go with a bid of $40, then the auction would extend and I would at least have 2 minutes to decide if I was willing to pay more.

    This means it is in your best interests to put in an autobid (aka Proxy Bid) for the maximum you are willing to pay, as it only extends if the bid placed in the last 2 minutes is higher than the current maximum proxy bid and it only bids the minimum necessary amount for you to reach the reserve price/lead the bidding
