well I am also in Australia and my Wii came with a nunchuck. Definitely did because all I purchased was the Wii and Zelda, yet somehow I managed to play it.
actually you'll find that conditional operators don't expand like that. The sentence is saying "the value of Linux != UNIX is not equal to OSX. In other words, (Linux != UNIX) != OSX or (true) != OSX.
He is clearly attempting to say that UNIX is not true, whatever that means
of course there's reason to not use the rendering pipeline to the limit, it costs much more money and there is very little visible benefit. You could make higher resolution textures and more detailed models but it would cost a lot more and at a lower resolution it would not look any better at all. When making a good looking HD game, you will want higher quality models and textures as it will look much better. That was the point I was trying to make.
GTAIV was not a core title, otherwise it would not have sold so many copies. The highest selling "core" title is Final Fantasy, and the only reason it's so high selling is because it is incredibly popular in Japan, where gaming is a much larger part of their culture.
yes but those orders are a contract to produce X consoles over Y months. If they satisfy demand and don't want any more consoles, they've still got to satisfy the rest of the contract and take up the unwanted Wiis. in the end, it's the same problem as if they were building it themselves (although not quite as bad, as at least they don't have an unused factory)
HD doesn't mean much for development cost for 3d titles
it does because a higher resolution means you need higher quality textures and higher polygon count in the models. Of course, you could just use the SD models but then what's the point of going HD in the first place? A HD game with SD models looks just as bad as the original SD game.
Ever upgraded kernels? With the binary drivers, that's always a blast.
I do it all the time. I never even noticed, since the binary drivers and their kernel modules get upgraded along with the kernel itself with the upgrade manager.
Oh unless you are talking about compiling your own kernel, then you will have to recompile the nvidia kernel module... Of course, if you want to compile your own kernel, then you can surely live with the consequences. For everyone else, there's no issue, since the update manager updates the kernel and the only thing the user needs to do it reboot afterwards
So, can I go to a website and click on a link and download a new package and have it just install by opening it? Can this package open a GUI to allow options to be chosen (things like optional features, like spell check and file associations)?
Since nvidia's 9xxx series of drivers, the graphical configuration utility allows you to hotplug monitors and set up dual head without touching xorg or even restarting the X server.
it's a bit disappointing that the feature isn't there for users of other cards, but it appears X is going through some big changes and hopefully soon enough it will hit the 21st century...
The increase in sales is actually due to June being over a five week period, whereas May was over a 4 week period. If you go with weekly sales, then all consoles actually decreased in sales from May to June.
The "increase" in sales for June is just spin, as always.
Of course that fails to take into account that at this point in the PS2's lifetime, it was still only available in Japan.
Considering that the Xbox360 and PS3 both only managed to (with availability worldwide) barely keep up with the PS2's sales in one region (the smallest of the big 3, with total PS2 sales of around 20 million), that shows bad beginnings for the PS3 and Xbox360.
Of course, the 360 had the advantage of launching into a complete void, so it had time to get its act together. Sony is in trouble.
There's a reason the Wii is cheaper - it's old technology. The fact that they include a different controller with it doesn't make any difference. Sure, the Wiimote is an innovative idea, but it's just a combination of technologies that have existed since the before the release of the Atari 2600.
oh no! I thought this was "News for Nerds". Surely I would think HERE at least, people would realise that the Wii is not "old technology". In fact, the Wii is full of new technology, it's just not being used to push as many possible polygons as possible. Just because the PS3 can push more polygons than my cellphone, does not mean my cellphone is old technology.
Also, I wasn't aware Bluetooth was around in 1977. Boy, you sure learn!
I don't think Sony should be the ones suing them, they contracted the software, and it was delivered to their specifications. Sony can't blame the people who wrote the software for doing what was asked.
If Sony didn't know what the software was doing then it's their own stupid fault.
If the software was illegal, then it's surely a matter for criminal court, and surely Sony shouldn't be awarded damages for being stupid enough to have this software written in the first place
Don't get me wrong - I'm not chipping on IBM, but if you are doing good for goods' sake, then do it, but please try to leave out the part where you paint yourself up as all warm and fuzzy and giving:)
sorry, since when has any company ever done anything good for good's sake? Even Google says "Don't be evil" with a rarely quoted "because being evil for short-term profits means less mind-share and therefore less profits in the long-term."

nooo! South America is sinking!
*glug glug glug...*

or if you have a new card
always worked for me

yes.
yet the PSP has sold more in America than Europe... and the DS has sold more in Europe than America (http://www.vgchartz.com)
I don't think the summary is claiming Automatix is illegal. It just has to do with the parsing of the sentence. I think the original intent was:
"illegal software" installer
and not
illegal "software installer"
I was simply pointing out exactly how it compares to the Wii.
I have always used nvidia cards.

actually, people buy the Wii because of some Wii only app (Wii Sports)
no one buys the Wii for the Wii itself, they buy it for the games...

the new name certainly makes a difference to me...
no I don't. I was giving Sony the benifit of the doubt and saying they were just evil, rather than evil AND stupid.
DeCSS?
If the stuff you write is illegal, then yes, you should be punished for it.
However, the guy who asked you to do it shouldn't be paid the damages.
maybe Sony should sue themselves? =)

Well then the "is" is superfluous since it was in the original text to begin with ;)
