I was one of the first ones on headstart (-2 days before actual launch). There was no gold spamming to speak of until about a week later. Not only is the spam in the LFG channel and whispers, they will also send you spam in your mailbox entitled "sorry to bother". The worst part is that you get a indicator on your GUI for new mail when this happens. Banning the spammers is in ncsoft's best interest, they'll just buy another $50 copy of Aion and continue spamming.
The good news is blocking the several new ones that popup when you login usually cures the problem for the couple hours you're logged in.
This new "picture" is taken in UV for which the Hubble ultra deep fieldis still the deepest image taken in visible wavelengths. Which provides, if you believe the current age estimate of the universe (13.73 ± 0.12 billion years old) means Hubble is still going back further. 0.73 Billion years vs 2 billion years since the beginning of the universe.
Just to give a sense of perspective in case you read the title and went so what?
As a fairly new but hardcore motor racing simulation fanatic (F1 challenge, rFactor, GTR2, GPL) this article is just a load of hogwash. First, simply pumping the GPS data from real racecars into an online track is useless. Why?
Because you cannot replicate exactly
1) the track itself, the bumps, kerbs, asphalt, track layout 2) track conditions at the time the gps data for the "real" racers cars, ambient temp, track temp, rubber laid down by previous sessions, debris etc. 3) car setup (good luck getting real time telemtry of all the parameters of the car from the real F1 teams), this would reveal too much information to competitors
These 3 factors combine to change grip and ultimately laptimes.
As anyone who has raced competitively online will tell you - lap times in the virtual world is incomparable to real world runs with the same cars, same track. As a small example, some of the best line sim race drivers in the world are doing = 1.17 laptimes on the '02 version of silverstone in F1C. While the fastest lap in the real world was a 1:18.9.
Almost 2s difference. Which is huge. This is one example of many. The only way this situation can be rectified is by making a hyper realisitc simulation that has never been seen before or, start fudging grip, engine power and other statistics. Which by the way the article says it won't do because "it defeats the point". Yeah right.
I just wanted to say that your comment about Shuttle: Space flight simulator is inaccurate - the shuttle only blows up if you flip the seperate SRB while in the launch stage but before they've run out of a fuel.
The marines (USMC) did not "adapt" armed assualt. They use a version called VBS2 which (Bohemia Interactive) developed specifically for them (and other military customers). VBS2 and ArmA both use the same sim engine but the result is different. VBS2 is more "military" oriented rather than for gamers. For example the AAR/observer/instructor "Real time Mission Editor" which arma does not have. Other things such as realistic magazine change out times - reduced duration to cater to the gamer crowd.
Previously they used VBS1 which also had a gamer oriented counterpart - operation flashpoint.
There were some kids that stole cars after playing GTA because they thought it was cool. What kind of things could we expect those kids to do after playing this game? There were also kids who stole cars before playing GTA.
Gotta say, can't think of what it could be besides water.
The smoothness and transparency of the features could suggest either water or very clear ice, Levin says.
"The surface is incredibly smooth, and the edges are in a plane and all at the same altitude," he says. "If they were ice or some other material, they'd show wear and tear over the surface, there would be rubble or sand or something." Karma whoring? Check
It is already possible to track snipers given just the one shot. And it's not very high tech either Just google counter sniper systems or anti sniper systems. Like so
Incoming fire detection and shooter position are determined and reported in less than 2 seconds. False shot detections are less that one per thousand hours of system operation at vehicle speeds under 50 miles per hour. Bascially, position is triangulated using a bunch of mics.
I love how I can simply type "slashdot" then hit Ctrl+Shift+Enter to have it turned into "http://www.slashdot.org". I love how I can simply type "slashdot" then hit Enter to have it turned into "http://www.slashdot.org" in opera.
I have worked on asteroids,
Which one was that?
That was used to dupe all these people again?
Blah blah blah, intel cpus are the best, blah blah blah. Reads like one giant intel advertisement

Maybe, Blockland but mmo? http://www.blockland.us/index.asp
Check out the video!
(Disclaimer: I don't work for them, just like the sandbox type game).
How often do you really have to move 100 MB or 2.5 GB of files around?
Files by aXxo come to mind. And any other legit files that usually come in 700mb, 4.4gb or 7.8gb ;)
travelling through a mage's tower (where you lose one of your party members permanently... which bugs the hell out of me
Thanks man, I was going to play that :/

Thank you - you're little excerpt has motivated me to find a copy of Dune and read it.
He said they were *used* by them, not *on* them. Time to level your reading skills.
Which is why it's called a simulation. Who the heck modded this insightful?

So posting those drunken, pot smoking pics of myself on a publicly viewable online source (e.x facebook) might not be a good idea? That's news to me.

http://virtualbattlespace.vbs2.com/The point of the submission is that this new helmet allows you to see through the plane. The JHMCS you linked to does not. Your post is 100% wrong.
Not at the University of Toronto. Classes are mandated to be below 70% average or the prof gets to explain why his classes are doing so well.
Didn't RTFA? Check

I think most of us here have 'hands-on' experience with this already...
