Funny. I recently bought Bioshock on Steam (when they were running their $15 special a month or two ago). I only had a chance to play it for a few hours (not much time for games these days). However, in the past week my system's gone completely crazy. Turned out it was due to SecuROM. I found the uninstaller utility and removed it, and now my system is behaving perfectly normally again. I liked what I managed to play of Bioshock, but unfortunately I'm not going to reinstall it again. It's a shame, really, because it seemed like a good game.
That's exactly what I would do. Of course, I'd notify anyone and everyone I could of the switch to my other domain and my new email address. But at least I'd have my old email address to catch anything from anyone who didn't update it.
No idea how useful this is for development, but Amazon is offering an unlocked Samsung I321N phone for $165 until 2pm PDT as a gold box deal. It runs Windows Mobile 5.0, and since it's unlocked I would imagine you should be able to load apps onto it with no problems.
I didn't use the HTML encoding of the letters. It looks like the comment system converted them. I agree that the comment system should be more robust with regards to how it handles different encoding schemes, but it's not like it can't handle any of them.
Which future is that? Is it the one where I live in a meat pudding house with my roommate Pink and our pet flying monkeys? Oh yeah, Pink's gonna get us tickets to the Aerosmith concert. You want in?
Are you saying that Hank doesn't exist? Cos I can assure you he does. But for some reason he changed his name from Rollins to Williams, and then later added a Jr to it. Oh yeah, and he's a time traveller, but don't let him know that I told you that.
Also note that some states have a minimum purchase amount before you need to worry about paying use taxes (not that any of you worry). For instance in DC, you only need to pay use taxes if you purchased more than $400 worth of items from catalogs or online in the previous year.
You clearly don't understand the psychology of pricing. $5.98 is less than $6 (and $5.99 for that matter), which makes quite a few people think that they're actually saving something.
Those tests should be limited to those who pay for "all you can get".
Can you point me to a broadband provider that has an "all you can get" plan? Everywhere I look, the plans are based on some sort of limited max upload/download speed. While some of those are pretty high, there is no "all you can get" plan that I can find.

Not sure if it is bias or laziness.
Bias? Laziness? At Slashdot?!?!?
...and the time scale is therefore not geologic.
Would the time scale be universal instead? : p
Hack the voting machines?
I personally prefer a nice medium-dark gray--a very neutral color.

You were saying something about building a wall out of meat and pudding....
So wait a second. It's from a song? Can you tell me who it's by?
Yes, I know the original line. It's the changing of 'eat' to 'beat' that I found funny.
"If you don't beat your meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you have any pudding if you don't beat yer meat!"
Sorry, but that's one of the funniest things I've seen in a while.
You forget one: /. posts story without editing or adding commentary pointing out this serious logic flaw.
4.
Again, I might have misunderstood your meaning of "newsreader".
Yes, you have. He's talking about a usenet client running over NNTP (Network News Transfer Protocol).
This is nothing more than a nice backdoor left in there by apple so that they have constant access to your phone.
Yes, because when Apple wants to access my iPhone, they're going to come to my house, pick up the phone, and start pushing buttons....
The amazing thing is that timothy was well aware of this (from the but-ram-doubler-is-old-news dept), yet he posted it anyways.

Does it run?
Why am I not surprised that Montana heads up that state list? : p
I understand that's what happened in the justice department - is that true of other departments?
Considering the modus operandi of this administration, I'd be very surprised if this weren't a widespread practice.
