So how exactly is this "open source"?

Because it uses a closed source program to play the proprietary .riff files along with the patent-encumbered MPEG2 files on the copyrighted DVD. Duh!

No they don't. Or maybe you didn't read the two words that follow "used" (you know, the "and new" part). If you click that, you'll see that both listings are for new copies (one is Amazon themselves) and specifically state that they won't be available until September 9.

Mod parent up.. The earth's climate is a control system. As it becomes unstable, you will start seeing more records: cold, hot, rain, drought, record single day temperature differentials, etc.

It's not going to just get warmer over short time periods.. It always amazes me that folks don't realize that.

I've been telling people this for a while. I liken it to a spinning top. When it begins to slow down it starts wobbling and becoming very erratic. The difference is that unlike a top, the climate will eventually begin to restabilize. It just might not stabilize in a way that humans are particularly comfortable with.

Pre- is for events... not verbs. A machine with no operating system installed at all would be "pre"-installed. A "pre"-heated oven would be room temperature.

Curious, but both Merriam-Webster and the Oxford English Dictionary seem to disagree with you. Since you need to have a subscription to the OED, I'll quote what they say:
    pre-, prefix
With verbs, or participial adjectives and verbal nouns derived from them, in sense 'fore-, before, previously, in advance'.

Would you like to amend your statement to say that the OED is killing the English language? Because that would be a pretty silly argument to make.
