FTS: What if your Gamertag were designated 'Child Killer' for having murdered [Bioshock's] Little Sisters--or 'Good Samaritan' for having saved them?
A lot of games have these kinds of labels already in game to describe your character.
But, I'm not sure how well that would work when putting those labels on a Gamertag. I mean, who doesn't play an RPG at least twice, once as a do-gooder saving the sisters, and then once as a maniacal murderer killing everything that moves?
And it started early in Jedi, even before the Ewoks. IMO it's right here, scene 13 after Leia delivers Chewie to Jabba:
13 EXT JABBA'S PALACE
The palace is sitting in the light of the double sunset. On the road in front, a large toadlike creature flicks its tongue out for a desert rodent and burps in satisfaction.
wtf was the point of that, other than GL thinking, "Oh, it'd be funny if..."
FTFA: Although 'alien' microbes might look like ordinary bacteria, their biochemistry could involve exotic amino acids or different elemental building blocks so researchers are devising tests to identify exotic microbes.
And:
On the other hand, an organism that employed the same suite of nucleotides and amino acids as known life-forms but merely used a different genetic code for specifying amino acids would not provide strong evidence for an independent origin, because the differences could probably be explained by evolutionary drift.
I think that people (Hello, ID'ers!) sometimes underestimate or misunderstand the power of allelic drift. Our world has incredibly diverse and interesting life forms. What may seem bizarre and "alien" on the surface is often simply the effect of random chance.
Comcast isn't "targetting" these people. Comcast gets a complaint, they pass it on to their subscriber - that's the way they do things. The point of this article really is that some other entity, Odex according to the FA, is targetting these anime torrents.
Comcast's only role in this is their usual douche baggery.
My wife and I opened a new account at the Blockbuster where we had just moved. We rented a movie a few times and returned them on time. Once, we returned the movie late, dropped it in the slot after closing time on the day it was due. Ok, no problem, I knew I'd have to pay the $2.95 late fee when we rented the next time.
Well, 2 weeks went by and we didn't rent a movie (oh noes). At the end of the 2nd week, I got a letter in the mail from Blockbuster informing me of the late fee on my account and asking me to come in and pay the $2.95, threatening me with a collection agency. So, I did. And I haven't given Blockbuster a fucking dime since.
That was in 1997. Yes, I hold a grudge.
But, screw them. Don't threaten me for $2.95 late fee that I've only owed for 2 weeks and was going to pay anyway. I hope that company dies and I don't really care how it happens.
"Web site hosts cannot be liable under civil law because of information stored on them if they do not in fact know of their illicit nature," Binoche said in his written ruling released at the Paris civil law court earlier this week.
Moreover, Web site hosts are not legally bound to monitor or investigate the origin of the information they store, he added.
IANAL, but I wonder if this could have ramifications in the file-sharing world..
Have you been hiding under a rock? They were pushing late beta keys pretty hard to everyone on pretty much every site you could imagine.
Yup. Although I had heard the name of the game a few times over the last few months, I never had any interest in getting back into an MMO. I read today that it was released, so I did some reading on it in just the last hour or so.
So, yes, relative to this game, I have been living under a rock.
How is the grinding compared to WoW? That's the only other MMORPG I've played and, although I played it for a pretty long time, eventually the ceaseless repetitive grinding for every-damn-thing is what drove me away.
Wish there was a demo of this game, like WoW's 10 day trial period. I'd give that a shot.

In that case they should call it "New Coke."
Explanatory link, for you young'uns.
Well, I really was just joking, in spite of what the mods thought.
/. would have a conniption.
One things for certain, if microsoft did something like this and the only solution was to reinstall windows,

After the fifth time Jar Jar said "How Wude!" it became apparent Lucas had completely given up on any semblance of craftsmanship.
I cringe every time I hear Obi-Wan say "Good call, my young padawan" in AotC.
"Defectivebydesign"
Lighten up, I'm joking.

It takes skill to get modded down in a discussion where most of the other comments are +5 Funny "Fuck You's."

1st post.
You could just read all the comments about Blizzard's Warden program for WoW, as they will likely be strikingly similar.

I agree. I don't even think you need to ask a teen to know this is true.
Remember all the dumb shit you did when you were a teenager? Me neither.
Data thieves don't screw around in Chicago and MS isn't exactly synonymous with "security."

According to the locals down here in Tally, the Mag Lab changes the weather, causes (or suppresses) hurricanes, and makes airplanes fall from the sky!
