AOL could learn from it's competitiors and other people in the web space. They could scrap their bloat ware put NN to work. They could have a dial-up/broadband model that puts ads in a tasteful manner within the browser or in a separate window. You'll go through there portal, but it doesn't mean you'll be bombarded with ads. Maybe it's wishful thinking.

There could be a use for it nonetheless. Many of us have broadband at home, but when you go places where it's not available you could use AOL dial-up for free with the few annoying ads. So it may not be over. Should be interesting to see what they come up with.

If quiet is what people are looking for, silentpcreview.com is a good place to go.

I use defensive driving no matter what vehicle I drive, even my boat. I used to think people in the SF Bay Area could drive, but now it's a mess. It's way too easy for fucktards to get a license. IMO American's could use some lessons from the British, they're fairly curtious and aware drivers.

We need harder driving schools in the US. People need to learn how to really drive a car then just learn the basic rules of the road. For example: People driving 50 MPH in the fast lane and forcing cars to go around them. The fast lane is meant to be a passing lane. Also, when someone wants to change lanes, Americans (I'm a native Californian) try to block them from merging instead of being courteous and letting them in. I call it the typical American attitude. Very selfish all bout me attitude.

Back on topic: I like the idea of having ethanol/gas as in E85 conversions to existing vehicles. It's my understanding that it doesn't take too much to convert modern cars, especially SUVs which are the gas guzzling kings.

Hybreds and the like are great, but your asking people to buy new cars, that should continue, but a faster and more logical way to be more bio-conservative is to convert existing vehicles. Obviously the major issue is availability of E85.

It's pretty common for companies to push products before the standard has been ratified. No one is going to produce chips unless they are confident it will be safe when the standard is completely ratified. Often just a firmware update will complete the standard.

Talking about an ugly off-topic exchange of words.

There's plenty of rich and poor people that are liberal and conservative. We have two equations that get mixed up and confused. The first is the fact that if you're liberal you must be poor and have no faith. The second is if your conservative you must be rich and have faith. That is horse shit and silly argument. It's also silly to say if someone is rich they are going to screw some poor person over. To become rich you generally need the help of others and usually that means you employ people and give jobs to those that don't have one. The more money you make, the more you can expand your business and more jobs you provide.

I believe if you have a lot of money you have a moral obligation to help the less fortunate. I believe they call it philanthropy. You can be rich or poor, conservative or liberal and qualify as a philanthropist. If you have money and you don't give back to society, well then I believe you're a piece of shit, but that's a personal opinion. Oh and people of faith tend to want to help others. It's been shown over and over.

I may be a person of faith and if someone is gay, that's their choice (maybe not), but I certainly don't have an issues with it. All it means is that there's more women for me. :P

We need other service providers in all area's of media and communication. The only way I have choice for a land phone line is to have one or not, but with cell phones I have choice.

If I want broadband at home, I have to go with comcast because DSL isn't available in my area. So my only other choices are ultra expensive satellite or dial-up. With TV, I have more service provider choices, but still no programming choices unless I want to pay out my ass. We have less competition in these area's then we did years ago. I think this will hold true as long as we are tied to physical lines. The only way competition is going to get in the market in a reasonable way is through legislation or wireless.

I'd like to see every city bury power lines and add fiber to people's home or some type of wireless connection. Allow different media to have access to customers through a central office in the city where they can bid in the best interest of the customers.

They have a choice, but what you suggested is a valid option. If they run their own lines and have their own browser, chat client, mail, phone service, TV, movies, and other services, they could provide a whole new meaning to the word "portal." They would almost be the next AOL without charging for the ads and pushing their do no evil slogan and hopefully not have crappy ass software. Maybe it's smoke and mirrors. But they could really target the hell out of people knowing everything they're looking at. They could make the ads tasteful too, well, as far as ads go.

Comcast and DSL definitely need some competition and if this is one of the forms it comes in, great. If you're going with Comcast broadband you're probably paying close to $45 dollars a month $540 a year for service (just to access the fucking internet). That's ridiculous. Then add up what you pay for cable or satellite TV service. Basic Cable is another $45 to $50 a month and you get advertisements too, WTF!!! Add up your home and cell phone and then tell me if your butt-hole is starting to hurt. Especially since you probably only use these services a few hours a day, if that.

Google offering these services and some non-intrusive ads for the aforementioned services with no or a minimal monthly fee seems like a pretty damn sweet deal. Probably the only peoples that will think they're evil are the other service providers.
