  1. Re:Good for Pop-Cap on EA Buys Bejeweled-Maker PopCap In Deal Worth Up To $1.3 Billion · · Score: 1

I agree. When hasn't EA taken a good game company and utterly nuked it from orbit with it's shenanigans? I would have thought Pop Cap would have seen EA in action with other game companies (Maxis, Origin Systems, etc.) and told EA a polite "Fuck you, NO!"...

...but I guess $1.3 billion will make the best man weak. What is sad is that Pop Cap has helped draw in casual gamers. Now their games will be on EA's Origin or POGO. Ultimately, I hope that Pop Cap staff does not look back on this and regret making this sale. Provided they don't get replaced by EA bots or become assimilated.

This will make the game pretty much a failure of epic proportions. If anything, it will be a shining example to all game companies on what NOT to do.

Thanks Capcom for showing everybody with this failure-in-the-making that there are worse DRM schemes than what EA creates!

What does Atheism got to do with... well, ANYTHING about the flooding or the Army Corp of Engineers? More specifically, this topic in general? Smells like a shameless plug for yours or somebody else blog....

The cause of all this flooding has to do with the massive amounts of snow and rain had over last winter. Nobody had the ability to foresee that much water coming when these dams and levees were made many years ago. Atheist, Bible-thumper, or not. The Corp. could only make a guess and try to strike a cord between the environment and the developers.

The TL;DR: This was an unforeseen and not calculable event that even the best minds could have prevented back at the time these devices were made. There is nobody to blame but the ones trying to place blame.

  7. CoH being F2P has one fatal thing against it: on City of Heroes Moving To Hybrid Payment Model · · Score: 1

That one thing is NCSoft. NCSoft has a penchant of taking a good idea and turning it into a train wreck. Remember Tablua Rasa? Also, they have not created a F2P model that works well. Exteel and Dungeon Runner anybody?

I really hope that they get their act together with this F2P of CoH because it is a good game. However, I don't think they will have much luck if they pretty much force gamers to pay for the normal operations of the game. I would rather they avoid the F2P model altogether if that is the way they want to play.

    One Word: Money.

Most Republicans' contributors are the very companies that were against that bill. The same is true with the Iowa bill: The companies don't want possible whistle blowers hired or undercover amature PIs. So who will stand up for them in government? The big business friendly GOP.

That is not to say the Democrats are not the same way. Dems are more prone to be the ones getting money from tree huggers and radical vegetarians who are wanting to get all the cams they can into cattle companies. The rule of thumb is: Big Business == Republican. Hippie BS == Democrats.

Cracking porn sites are for pathetic script kiddies with little to no skill what so ever. Also what's up with trying to shame owners of porn site memberships? Fucking puritans.

  23. Re:Here's some free advice... on Nintendo Chief: Consumers Don't Understand 3DS Yet · · Score: 1

Bottom line it comes down to this: 3D Games, Movies, and TV are just a gimmick and a passing fad.

Ever since I began hearing about all this 3D stuff making its way to TV and games, my first thought was "Here we go again....". This resurgence in 3D is just an excuse to cover up bad development. That is why most of the "new" movies and games, when you strip away the 3D, are poor in story and entertainment.

What Nintendo doesn't understand and never fully understood is that consumers don't follow Nintendo like a game deity. Nintendo has failed before and can fail again. Also, maybe Nintendo doesn't realize this, the world economy sucks right now. People can't shell out $250 for something that offers what the regular DS does, but only adds the 3D gimmick.

My biggest concern, besides not getting any mod points for this post, is that the 3DS will give Nintendo a green light to take shortcuts in game development. If this happens the 3DS will have a ton of craptacular games with its major selling point being "It is crap, but in 3D!!!"
