Sony is selling them at a loss as it is. The only "Discount" Sony "may" sell them for would be to sell them to the military at the same price that the stores get them for... And the stores make almost no profit on them at all. Plus unless the contract already existed BEFORE the "Other OS" was removed, Sony can refuse any contract that would require them to include it.
The reason why some people will support apple no matter what it does is because they are religious about it. Yes some people take supporting apple to religious extremes. (No murdering.... yet) I have had Apple followers try to "convert" me, and the way they spoke was almost word for word what people "Spreading the word of god" said!
Not all carriers rape customers when it comes to TXTing. Sprint, for example, includes unlimited texting on all their data plans. So if you have internet on your cell, you also have unlimited texting.
I just used basic soldering skills. I de-soldered the old battery, then I purchased a couple of CR2032 (CR1026 will also work) Batt Holders from Radio Shack. I connected them in parallel and soldered them to the circuit board. I used some double sided foam tape to secure them so that they do not bounce about when handling the game. I replaced the security screws with standard phillips head screws.
The original ZELDA Gold Cart I purchased new when it first came out. And it is still in really good shape! I think I will setup my NES today and play it again.
( I have already modded the cart to make replacing the batteries easier. It has 2 battery spots now. I can change the battery without loosing my save games)
For subscription services, I totally endorse DRM. You are paying a monthly fee to access music you are not paying for the songs themselves. If the company goes under I do not have a hard drive full of music or videos I purchased that will stop working. You are basically renting the music or videos, and you know that up front.
I am totally against any DRM for anything I purchase. Because if the company I purchased the DRM'd content goes under, their DRM servers stop, and the content I paid for stops working.
If I purchase blank CD's, DVD's or hard drives and I got charged a "Piracy Tax", I would consider that my payment to copyright holders and I would pirate all I wanted.
They have no way to prove what I will be using the media for. If I am doing business backups than copyright holders are getting money from me for not pirating anything.
However there is one, and only one way that I would happily accept such a tax... Is if in adding this tax, copyright holders could no longer file lawsuits against anyone for copyright violations. That their ONLY course of action would be to fill out forms and submit them to the federal government to get some of that "Piracy Tax" money.
Then the simple solution is to not use your personal phone to check your business e-mail. If my employer wants me to check my e-mail when I am out and about, then they can provide me with the equipment to do so. Otherwise I will not use my personal phone to check my business e-mail.
I think that 3D is being done all wrong. It has been done all wrong for decades. (Yes 3D has been around for decades). If you have stuff popping out of the screen it is a gimmick. It distracts you from the story, it does not draw you in.
What I would like to see 3D do is depth. Instead of coming out of the screen AT me, have everything start at the screen and go in.
With normal 3D where stuff comes out at you, if you move your head to see the "side" of things, all the 3D elements slide like paper tiles in a pop-up book. That totally ruins the 3D experience right there.
However that same effect when the movie goes back from the screen is less noticeable and is less likely to ruin the effect. It will also work better at wider viewing angles.
I have noticed that some white devices are really clear cases with a white lining in the plastic, and are not made of white plastic. This actually hides scratches and scuffs. But that clear layer may cause issues for the camera for the iPhone.
I am not an Apple fan, I actually hate how they do many things... But in this case, it may actually be legit.
I would rather invest $80,000 in a work around than to pay that extortion fee. Heck I would invest $160,000 in a work around! Then sell it for a one time fee of $2,000 to everyone who was being harassed. There is no way Rollover images are worth that much.
Hell I would remove all rollover images before paying anything!
The difference is that spark plugs, and oil require extra tools not included with your car.
Car Analogy aside, I have no problem with this. I have charged people to preform updates on Nintendo Wii's, and PC's. The most common reason is that they did not want to take a chance and mess it up. However one of the Nintendo Wii's was in the basement with no Internet, and the customer did not understand how to hook it to their upstairs TV, and did not understand the WiFi settings...
These services that BestBuy offers are not mandatory. They are in direct response to requests from customers. BestBuy would not offer this service if customers were not asking for it. If you all really see a problem with this, then offer to it for $20. (No do not stand around in BestBuy advertising your new service undercutting theirs tho)
Banning TXTing while driving is good. However instead of making more laws, how about EDUCATION! Get the word out how dangerous it is. Parents inform your kids how dangerous it is, and show them by NOT DOING IT!
Are they wrong, no. However apps like MS's defrag app have no reason to connect to the internet. What could it possibly need the internet for? And it does not stop working when I prevent it from connecting to the internet.
Most of the other apps I have either check for updates automatically, but they give me an option to turn that off, or are designed to connect to the internet and they tell you that this app will be doing it.
The program interaction protection is actually a useful feature. It prevents one app from modifying another app without your permission. That feature has prevented my cousin from having a virus spread and embed itself in her OS. Instead of having to do a major cleanup, or format and re-install It was an easy matter to remove it.
However every so often you come across an app that does not need to connect to the internet, has no mention of any internet based features, and no option to disable such a feature. That is the issue I have.

It is fine... As long as nobody updates any of them. ;)
I almost expected the US Military to sue Sony for killing "Other OS" because of this.
"We only purchased the machines to use the "Other OS" option. Now that you killed it, the consoles are useless to us."
I predict that 3rd party hardware makers are going to flood the market with external batteries...

Just use servers that are located anywhere but Indiana.

Here is what they have available now... It might solder straight to the cart, but you will only be able to connect one directly to the cart.

Only use one batt at a time. Place the new one before removing the old one.
Batteries are cheaper from Amazon.com.

I have to agree, 8PM is none of the school's damn business. Knowing where they are at 8pm is the PARENTS job!
Or the used game market? Not going to be able to sell that game you finished and never want to play again.

Oh sure they are completely illegal in the US...
But soon they will be legal in your car, because using a cellphone in a car is just unacceptable.
However they will still not be legal in prisons to prevent prisoners from having illegal contact with the outside.

Because only ONE COMPANY IS MAKING THEM!!!!
Of course companies are going to customize the user experience of their device. But the same software runs on all handsets.
So what you are saying is, "Let's follow the RIAA and MPAA when it comes to a loss, and just pull a massive number out of our ass."

Quick have your sister call one of those patent lawyers so she can sue Apple! lol
would not have already realized that it is a hybrid.
I mean WTF did they think it ran on... Magic?
Well if they claimed that, then they would have a lawsuit from Apple to deal with, I mean Apple claims that their iPad is Magic.

Laws, laws to fix those laws, and more laws!
Why always with the laws?
