It does not take THAT much time. I get a prompt I choose yes or no, and remember. So I only have to make the decision once for each app. Once it is in place, I do not have to worry about it.
Kind of like teaching your e-mail's spam filter what is and is not spam to you. It takes time at first then later you do not have to worry about it.
If it was not for this firewall then Windows Defrag would have connected to the internet and I would not have known. Who knows what data it was transmitting to Microsoft? Some apps have no need to connect to the internet, yet they will do it anyway. WHY?
A friend of mine had a neighbor that bitched about My friend's WiFi making him sick... The funny thing is that my friend went on vacation for 2 months, and had everything in his home unplugged... He had been back for 2 days when the neighbor knocked on his door and bitched about the WiFi making him sick. My friend looked at him and asked him how long he had been sick. The neighbor said "It started about 6 weeks ago". My friend cut him off and informed him that he was in asia for the past 8 weeks so 6 weeks ago I was not home, and my router had been unplugged for 2 weeks already. So you can either apologize or just leave. And if WiFi is really making you sick, good luck figuring out WHO's WiFi it is, there are 30 active WiFi signals within range at this moment. So you can either move, or line your house with copper mesh."
I personally think that people who want their neighbors to turn their WiFi off because it makes them sick is inappropriate. If WiFi makes them sick, then they should modify their house to protect themselves.
There are people that do not want a cell tower within 5 miles of their home... But they want perfect cell coverage in their home including their basement. They complain about how WiFi makes you sick, while surfing the internet on their laptop/netbook/PDA via WiFi at the coffee shop or in their home.
I just do not trust the Windows Firewall. It does not monitor the interaction between apps either. So if one app wants to use another PC Tools will prompt me, Windows firewall will not.
The built in firewall allows apps to give themselves permission to access the internet. So that means that spyware and other crap that a firewall is supposed to block... Can give itself permission to go online.
Plus PC Tools firewall will also ask me if I want to allow one app to use another. That prevents viruses from spreading and infecting my computer. The Windows firewall does not do that.
I find the Windows firewall hard to use and change settings for. PC Tools is really easy for me to alter the settings for.
I like having total controll over what apps can and can not go online. I mean why does windows defrag need to connect to the internet? [block]
When they basically refused to support Windows 7. I have sense replace the firewall on ALL my machines (including my XP machines) with PC Tools Firewall Plus. It is free, and provides better protection than Zone Alarm.
Copy & Paste people! Make a new TXT document, then open each word doc, select all, copy, then paste into the new one in the proper order! Formatting is now removed. Either stick with that, select all and copy the TXT file and paste it in a fresh Word DOC. Poof now you magically have a single document that has ALL the other documents merged into it.
Yea you can rip them, but only full Bluray rips will work. Plus you have to have a 3DTV, and a 3D bluray player. You can't take a 3D movie and compress it into an MP4 or Divx video file and play it on your computer, or non 3D equipment.
So in order to enjoy a pirated 3D movie most people would have to spend about $2,000 usd to get a 3DTV, a 3D bluray player (that can play home burned Bluray disks), a bluray burner, and Bluray media. And even at that a normal bluray burner may not be able to burn 3D Blueray movies. I am not sure where the 3D data is stored.
However it is still a form of DRM. Fewer people can make use of a 3D movie rip than of a 2D movie rip. So any movie that comes out in 3D, will have a lower pirace rate, becuase the 3D version will be less usable than the 2D version.
It is also a form of DRM. You can't cam a 3D Movie, you can't duplicate a 3D BluRay (yet) so that is why everything is going that direction. 3D Movies are not able to be pirated right now, so they are pushing 3D because it is a new form of DRM hidden under a layer of "entertainment enhancement".
Maybe the gas station employees are putting these things in the pumps.
Maybe the pumps can have intrusion sensors installed, so that the computers that control them can also log when the pumps are opened. If they are opened when it is not scheduled then the pumps can be remotely shut down and then inspected. That combined with video surveillance they can then file a civil suit for the cost of the repairs to the pumps.
Just as long as they do not do some of the crap that Packard Bell did before they went under and became part of HP...
Like knowingly sell several lines of computers with defective parts. Or sell new machines with used parts in them. (And state that the machines were 100% new) Or sell nothing but crap machines for years back to back.
The casino is responsible for the maintenance of their gear. If their equipment is out of order, and it is still in operation, then they should be forced to pay out what the machine states. If the casino had done regular checks of their equipment, then this would have come up during one of those checks, and the casino would not have had this issue.
I think the casino should have to pay all $11 million. They should not be allowed to claim later, 'Well the machine has a small problem..."
Hell for all we know the casino offered the company that did the inspection a couple million to "Find a problem".
If I have to drive though Ohio on a regular basis, I'll get one of those GPS logging devices. They log your location, speed, and the time. That way you can have PROOF of your exact speed vs the officers "Estimation".
I'm sorry but if anyone is pulled over by the police with this thing on their steering wheel, they should have their car towed, and their iPad taken away. And if they are involved in an accident and they find either the iPad or just the damn mount attached to the wheel, they should be automatically held responsible for the accident.
That is what I was picturing was going to be used. I am very dissappointed that not only was that NOT the tool he used, but that he has no idea WHAT a meat cleaver is!
Seriously, When I was looking at laptops, 2 laptops that were pretty much the same in specks, one had a "Turbo" CPU the other's CPU was the speed of the "Boosted" one next to it... The price difference... $20.00!!! I'll pay an extra $20 to have FULL SPEED ALL THE TIME!

Then do it the old way!

Cool! Now I can fly and keep my dignity in tact!
I wonder how long till there are undergarments and clothing designed to block these scans?
I know I will refuse to fly as long as these invasive body scanners are in place... Until clothing that blocks it comes out.
That tells me that NASA screwed up. They should not have released it on STEAM. Instead they should have released it as a Facebook game!

Ahh, I was mistaken. I knew someone actually PAID for the Packard Bell brand...
I prefer Toshoba and HP...
However my Acer Netbook is pretty awesome. But my 17" acer laptop had a hinge break RIGHT AFTER the warranty ended...
Just as long as they do not do some of the crap that Packard Bell did before they went under and became part of HP...

It is unfair to prevent gays from getting married. Let gays get married, and enjoy the tax breaks, and THEN everything will be on equal ground.
That way unmarried couples (Regardless of sexual orientation) can enjoy being taxed equally.
But the CAR is. And so is the gas and electricity that is used to power the plates.
No way would I plug that stupidity into my cars power supply.
Want to advertise on MY property, then pay ME not the state.
I wonder how long after this goes into effect that some guy files a lawsuit for embarrassing him by displaying a tampon advert on his truck's plate.
Or some religious crazy files a lawsuit because the plate displayed a condom advert...

Isn't that like a guy dressing like a woman? It is really a guy regardless what it looks like.
I am surprised that it went this long without the limits!
Someone actually did this?
