Too much of anything is bad. Saying that because of the possibility that someone can get too much of something that it should not be used is idiotic. Too much water can kill someone. Should everyone stop drinking water now? Too much medicine can kill someone. Should we abandon the medical field? Too much exercise can kill someone. Should we stop exercising? If someone uses anything too much, it is more harmful than beneficial. This doesn't mean that it should be abandoned.
Seatbelt laws are not just about limiting your choice. When you fly through your windshield because you didn't wear your seatbelt, you go to a government hospital. Hospitals recieve taxpayer money. By you not using your seatbelt, you are wasting my tax money on a needless emergency room visit that could have been prevented had you simply put the seatbelt on.
This is not Nanny State Fascism. This is economics. People need to quit being so annoying with the seatbelt argument./rant
Maybe the situation makes the co-worker extremely uncomfortable, so why is it their responsibility to "talk with him personally".
Because common decency says that if you do not like something someone is doing, you ask them to stop before going to a superior. There is no use going up the chain of command for something that could potentially be solved on an individual basis. If someone is brave enough to discuss the matter with a superior, which would also be awkward, they should be brave enough to face the person they have a problem with personally. Basically, people should not talk about someone behind their back. If they have a problem, discuss the matter with the person on a one-on-one level. If the problem continues, then you involve a higher authority.
I am sick of people saying that public transportation is the Holy Grail of this country's transportation/pollution/whatever else problems. Here's a big secret that all these pro-public transportation people don't seem to realize:
Not every place has public transportation.
Believe it or not, people commute from small towns and small cities to bigger cities. And, believe it or not, these small towns and small cities don't always have a public transportation system that can get them from point A to point B and back again. In the town that I grew up in, the only time a bus was ever seen, other than school buses, was when a charter bus would pull off the interstate to get gas or pass through the town.
In the small city I live in now, there is a bus line for around the city, but it only goes to the college and a strip mall. There are several buses that go to the surrounding cities. However, they don't operate at the times necessary for people to get to and from work, and there are no buses that get around those cities.
There is no rail line. There are no taxis. How do people get around? Cars.
There is a bike path that stretches from the college to the strip mall area. But there is no bike path on the major streets. How are people supposed to get where they are going without spending a hour to get from one end of the city where they live to the other? Again, personal vehicles.
So, next time that you think that public transportation is the be all, end all of our transportation and pollution woes, think again. Not everyone in this country lives in a major metropolitan area with a squeaky clean public transportation system.
Hmmm....it was meant to be humorous...thank you for laughing, at least. It wasn't meant to be a troll comment. Some people don't seem to find my style of humor funny, apparently.
Um, I'm pretty sure that the question of how old the 'universe' is has already been answered. 6,000 years. Don't believe me? Read the Bible. Because it's never wrong. You know how I know? My preacher told me so.
Most importantly, in 50 or 60 years when the copyrights actually expire, will you still even want your 128kbps mp3? Of course not. The public domain file will be provided in a superior format from a master recording.
Because no one uses those old records and record players anymore...
Yes, I admit I'm 'guilty' of what I'm implying above and will continue to do so despite their continued shennanigans. And no. I don't feel any remorse.
But think of the children! Why would you do something like this that would hurt the children?
All they really have to do is fix Santa's elves with suppressive fire from the 240Bs, and flank 'Objective Workshop,' assaulting through and getting a 360 perimeter around it in order to secure it for future use.
Most places have these mechanisms in place to catch customers. The ability to also catch an employee is an added bonus. How can someone assume that all people in debt are thieves? There are extremely rich people who steal, and there are poor people who are the most honest people you will meet. It is all based on the person, not the wallet.
How about the old fashioned camera system? Most stores seem to have some variant of it in place, whether it be mirrors or actual cameras in the store. If someone steals, they are caught on tape. There's a gas station in my town that has cameras all over the store. I doubt there is a section of that store that isn't covered at some angle by a camera. And that's just candy and chips and beer and soda. Upscale retail stores most likely have systems such as that in place already, so the idea that someone should be prevented from getting a job somewhere based on a fear of theft is ludicrous. The person will be caught and fired IF they do steal.
Scientists also hope that soon they will be able to transport our consciousnesses into vast computers, giving each member of humanity a lifespan of eons and a godlike existence.
But what about power surges? Would the electrical companies be held accountable for the genocide in cities when storms come and knock out the power?
Changes for the better? SWG changed for the better? Are you nuts? No, I'm not a fanboy, but like the parent said, its an almost completely different game. The business majors in upper management realized that they could bring in people by totally switching how the game was played, thereby alienating all those who were in the game before the switch. They may have gained a new audience, but was the cost of gaining that new audience worth it?
I think you just signed your friend's death warrant, considering how many people around here are not too fond of what has happened since that fateful day...
Well, maybe not death warrant, but he'll definately never be able to use a PC ever again.
Many people do not know about the alternatives. Most people I talk to about the subject that are not techies have never even heard of Linux. The only thing that most people have heard of is Apple and Windows(yes, I know that Apple is not an OS, but that is what people think of.)
And many people can barely operate a computer, let alone find an alternative, of which they have no idea where to start, install, set up, learn, so on and so forth. For most people, checking their email and possibly sending an IM or two is the highlight of their day when it comes to computers. The fact that most people have no idea what the alternatives are should show you that something is wrong. The market will not decide because the market is ignorant of their choices. People want to turn on the computer and have it work. Telling them that there are alternatives means that you will be met with blank stares.
I'm going to stop now before I go on a long rant that goes in circles and makes the same point over and over, much like this sentence.
It may not be infringement in your eyes, but the various broadcasting companies think differently than you.
A similar argument: If I rip a streaming radio show to my computer, its a time shift, right? The RIAA would say that that is piracy.
And remember how much the MPAA made a fuss over VCRs for their ability to record movies and whatnot off of TV?
Infringement ideas on/. and infringement ideas in the corporate world are two totally different things. Fair use isn't an idea in the corporations think tanks/legal teams.

Ruby is one of the Weapons in Final Fantasy VII! God, what else do I have to explain around here?
And now that Sega has a brand new system coming out, Sony has nothing to fear...oh wait.

So the iPhone will work with all carriers as well?

There are lies, damn lies, and Slashdot postings...

Yea, I know. Flamebait. But I couldn't resist.
Nope, it means you are a professional. Alcoholics are quitters. They go to meetings.
That and a Syndicate Wars remake would rule the day.
Take a look at this link. You will probably be interested in it. Though it won't be out for awhile...

Actually, I kinda like the Games section...I don't know, maybe I'm weird.
