  1. But why would I want to pay...? on Ex-Pirate Bay Admin Launches Micropayment Service · · Score: 0

I love The Pirate Bay and I love torrent sites - because I can get movies for free! I don't have enough money to give to Hollywood to keep making trashy films, so I download them for free, burn them off onto a DVD and laugh at them in the comfort of my own home cinema... :-)

  2. I don't know about brain surgery...... on Brain Surgery Linked To Sensation of Spirituality · · Score: 0

...but if you want a spiritual experience that's less dangerous than cutting your head open or reading the Bible, then I highly recommend ingesting 10 grams of Psilocybin Mushrooms - completely natural and non-toxic - skeptic or not, I recommend every sane, creative or intelligent person give them a go!

  3. 'One day...' on Using Infrared Cameras To Find Tastiness of Beef · · Score: 0

...we won't have a planet left if the meat industry continues to rape the planet.
Unless in the near future we all adopt a vegetarian diet then we are doomed!

Besides, what is tasty about a dead animal? Bland and tasteless...
No wonder so many Americans are fat with their obsession with meat and carbohydrates!

  6. No thanks! on Bach Launches Updated MP3 Format · · Score: 0

If I buy music it is vinyl - I do support the artists, but the music I collect/mix isn't released on CD or in digital format, it's always going to be wax!

And if I do download an MP3, it's usually in a mix anyway, otherwise it's all about ripping from YouTube even if you do get awful quality sound!
I wish OGG files would take off too!

  7. Maybe they're using the wrong tools? on SETI Founder Outlines Ambitious Future Plans · · Score: 0

"...the question of contact with extraterrestrials is a kind of red herring premised upon a number of assumptions that a moment's reflection will show are completely false. To search expectantly for a radio signal from an extraterrestrial source is probably as culture bound a presumption as to search the galaxy for a good Italian restaurant. And yet, this has been chosen as the avenue by which it is assumed contact is likely to occur. Meanwhile, there are people all over the world - psychics, shamans, mystics, schizophrenics - whose heads are filled with information, but it has been ruled a priori irrelevant, incoherent, or mad. Only that which is validated through consensus via certain sanctioned instrumentalities will be accepted as a signal. The problem is that we are so inundated by these signals - these other dimensions - that there is a great deal of noise in the circuit." - Terence McKenna.

  18. Re:Some More Names to Consider on What Belongs In a High School Sci-Fi/Fantasy Lit Class? · · Score: 0

I'll second that! Lovecraft is a major influence on modern horror & science fiction, even fantasy too. The Shadow Out Of Time is one of the finest pieces of weird fiction i've read, it strays more into the science fiction category rather than horror for which Lovecraft is generally associated with.

I'm reading William Gibson's Neuromancer at the moment, very interesting read.....would be good if the kids read that one too. There's so much great literature out there, it's hard to decide...!

  21. Re:Even if it was a rave... on UK Police Raid Party After Seeing "All-Night" Tag On Facebook · · Score: 0

What's worse, even if it was a "rave" (*gag*) it technically shouldn't have been illegal. While ravers and raves are probably one of humanity's least finest inventions there's nothing inherently wrong with listening and dancing to shitty techno (a redundancy?), waving around glowsticks like a fruitcake, and taking a drug that hurts no one 'cept yourself. Ravers in all their idiocy are like modern retardo hippies; it's not like raves are an assembly of violent people. The root of this all is the War on Drugs. I take it you've never been to a proper rave/free-party then? One of humanity's finest inventions, a birthright our forefathers did in this country as part of their Pagan rituals and a part of English culture is to get loved up & dance to Jungle-Tekno and Drum & Bass all weekend! Besides, not everyone at raves is on MDMA or other chemicals, I know many straight-edge ravers, and others who stick to natural substances only, such as Mushrooms.
