Didja ever wonder why things like RSI and carpal tunnel are relatively recent phenomena, and seem to coincide with the migration from typewriter keyboards to computer keyboards?
I disagree. If I read the advisory right, the Adelphia CMTS is acting more like a dumb hub than a switch. I'm pretty sure that most cable head-end gear manufactured in the past few years acts like a switch and has security features that limit a client's abilities to hijack and eavesdrop on other clients.
Leaving your clients on an open, unsecured network like Adelphia has is just plain negligent.
Try going to Wal-Mart, your Doctor, or McDonald's and telling them that they should give you a { bag of Ol'Roy dog food | physical | Big Mac } out of the kindness of their hearts, even though you gave them money for the same thing five months ago.
His company had a previous agreement whereby they would give him money in exchange for maintaining their network. Now they want him to do it for free. He was taken advantage of, and he let it happen.

Does anyone have any information on how (and to what extent) voting machines are audited? I saw a show (on TLC, I think) showing how heavily slot machines were audited in Las Vegas. I'd like to know if voting machines are held to the same standards.
When it became impossible to run a business, attend college, or do many other things without using their software. It's pretty easy for almost any business to get by without using software from Sun, HP, IBM, Oracle, Netscape, or any other vendor. It's impossible for the vast majority of businesses to interact with clients and vendors without using some form of MS software.
As I understand it, it's also becoming increasingly difficult to avoid MS software on most university and community college campuses.
Microsoft has been a monopoly for a lot of people for a long time.
Suppose someone were using SourceForge's free service to develop a product which would compete directly with SourceForge's commercial offering. Would it be reasonable for SF to tell them to go somewhere else?
After reading this I got the mental image of someone standing there in cuffs, with a cop reading them their Miranda rights over and over and over again.
Patches have been submitted for Ethereal and Nmap as well.
Yeah! And Powerpoint's pretty worthless, too!
None, if you're in the US.
Show me a business worth $US 5 million or more that can exist without some form of Microsoft software.
More like the size of Alaska. Texas is closer to 3% of total US landmass.
Wait three months.
Entercom owns many of the popular sations in K.C. They're a miniature version of ClearChannel.

You must be old. Nixon shredded any hint of respect for the presidency a long time ago.
A home page that is just a logo to click on to go to the real home page. It is often large, slow and adds nothing (good) to the experience
This is called a "splash page." They're, like, soooo 1996.
NEXT does sell computers. They just happen to have Apple logos on them.

You're assuming that your browser is immune to man in the middle attacks. It may not be.

...when they come out with a 4.77 GHz version.

I wonder when the LinPushbackd, GNU Pushbackd and PHPMyPushbackd projects will appear on SF.
If it's anything like my D510, it also acts as a USB hard drive. Yay!
Try loading the site in lynx, links, w3m or any other text browser, then try using the site.

Wouldn't "food pills" qualify as mass-produced, prepackaged food? Although they got the exact format wrong, the overall concept was right.
I got one yesterday. I unplugged the USB<->serial dongle that came with my laptop, and POOF. Blue screen.
