... you would have seen the MOST PATHETIC Japanese Steak House presentation I have ever seen. There is no wonder the food was under cooked. The "chef" should never have been given a knife. He dropped his tools MULTIPLE times and did nothing but pound metal on the side of the grill. It is obvious the management of that location location allows CRAP and should be brought to bear for the low quality, low-class presentation. Instead he now got WORLD WIDE ATTENTION to his "CON GAME." Pitiful, VERY Pitiful.
When I enter a mailing address, I want the deliver to go without a hitch so I generally enter the address all in CAPS. To consider that the CAPSLOCK key is only used to SHOUT is the most assinine thing since the DOT dot-head decided that technology to disable cell phones in cars wouldbe a great thing to do. Throw the baby out with the bath water is what seems to prevail. Are there any original thinkers left or do people just come up with knee-jerk reactions and feel all good about themselves for saving the WORLD from ourselves?
Reminds me of the movie Idiocracy where they use used a "electrolyte-enhanced" prioduct instead of water because "Brawndo" is better than just plain water. DOH! Life imitating art. We only have ourselves though to blame if this type of thinking overwhelms us and we become complacant to just accept things rather than put up a fuss. "Eternal Vigilance Is The Price Of Freedom" and it equally applies to technology. We must "Protect Our Tech" and "Demand Quality." Yeah, this is a different rant but goes along the same lines of this conversation- When did we decide it was acceptable that our consumer products such as televisions should have a life expectancy of less than ten years? When growing up, my television lasted over 25 years, yet we have allowed the manufacturers to chepaen the quality to the point where it becomes necessary to buy an "extended one year warranty" to cover us a full two years on some equipment. GAHH!!!
If the doctor embedded a Bluetooth device that would remain undetected until he sent a special-coded signal, at which point it would seek to compromise blue tooth devices in the reachable area with a malicious payload, THEN it would be a news item.
The current story is nothing but supermarket trash-paper ZOMG ZOMBIES headline.
In replacing the existing radar systems with GPS, this seems a very stupid thing to do. Clearly, the safety and security of the travelling public should be first and foremost. While GPS seems to have proven itself for a myriad of applications, does it mean we place all of our trust in that system of satellites? A more logical approach would be to merge radar and GPS to have a system that can tolerate the failure of either method and provide fault tolerance in the process.
Imagine a scenario where a plane is being directed to fly along a particular path that is being tracked by GPS and the radar system does not identify the object appropraitely? I more intensive triangulation can be done to determine the true location of the flight and take appropriate action. Ideally, this could be logged as a exception automatically while adjusting the Air Traffic Controlling system information to the most accurate data. There is true inherent value in having two separate and distinct processes that can maintain survivability independently, and the odds of a random occurrence taking out both at the same time (short of an engineered attack) would be highly improbable.
In addition, radar is more of an absolute method of measurement, meaning that detecting an object can be done without requiring any action (or equipment) being used by the object being tracked. I think that if GPS rules, then that will be the first thing that terrorists will assume absolute control over in a plane.
Salesman: "Is getting up off the couch to put a movie into your PS3 to much of an ordeal?"
"Do you get out of breath walking to your car to go to the store?"
"Do you enjoy the stunning quality of VHS movies?"
"Do you have more money than commonsense?"
"Well then we have the perfect product for you!...."
Why not use Unobtanium? Sure, it is more expensive right now but I have assurances we have located a tremendous cache of this on another planet. We should be able to mine it once we get rid of the pesky vegetation.
And if they didnt sign the exclusive deal with Apple, what do you think that growth would have been? Just saying they are complaining all the way to the bank on this one.
The best tool they have to assure that card counting gains no advantage is to use "auto-shufflers" which re-insert the used cards back into the six deck "shoe" right after they are used in a hand. Theoretically, you can receive the same card a couple times within five hands dealt because it is an eligile card to be dealt. In Las Vegas, the last time I was at NY, NY they used these auto shufflers exclusively and I avoided them. However, the average player would not know what to look for and would be happy to play at those tables. Not only is card counting meaningless but they also eliminate the delays of having to reshuffle the six card shoes periodically. Several times a day they do replace the cards not only because they get worn out by constant use but they could potentially be marked.
Use it AT THE HOSPITAL! Most all doctors will tell you that whatthe body needs most after a major surgery or incident is plenty of rest. That is one thing you dont get at the hospital. You are woken up every 2-3 hours for tests. If this was monitored constantly, then you could get the 8 hours of sleep you minimally need to start healing instead of waiting to go home.
Use outside of a hospital- well that could lead to a national of hypochondriacs (ex. "Doc, I was monitoring my hormone levels and found that when I got up int he morning there is a 2% drop and I read that sudden decreases could be a related to a major illness. Help ME!")
Making a blanket statement like this only seeks to infuriate the less-informed. I wonder, if the same study was done, for those individuals who hold a security clearance, would the same hold true? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Integrity is one of the big assets you can carry with you in life, and even if you are dealt shit, it doesn't mean you have to compromise your integrity or ethics. The time will come when you perhaps have the ability to even the scales, but do it within the scope of keeping your own respectability and integrity high. All it takes is one random comment to start a ball rolling that will soon destroy you.
Then again, if you are just a poser in a job, then you deserve everything that happens to you.
Cant go against millenia of technological development to make the better killing machine. There is a type of elegance associated with the arm-band terminal that a glove would just not offer. Problem is, they tend to blow themselvesup before we get a real good look at a working unit.
Isolate the video signal of the camera inside the box and pump in a video of you sitting happily in your favorite arm chair, wife by your side, your 2.5 children, the family cat on lap and the dog at your feet. Either that or find the raunchiest sex scene and feed that back at them. At least with the second option, you'll find out how often they actually monitor the signal.
1. If I hit my monthly download limit, I will begin using a wireless connection my neighbors unsecure wireless router. It will be slower probably but I will at least be able to get to the internet and charge up their cable bill instead of mine. Maybe even invest in a van and do some WiFi surfing in the neighborhood. 2. Cable companies will begin charging us more to access the same networks we have become accustom. 3. Without some type of monitoring device for end-users, many people will be shocked to find cable bills of $200-$300 or more. 4. Cable companies will begin to use this as differentiating service and may start imposing "usage taxes" on those who choose to use services such as "Vonage". 5. What about those ads that download the same content eahc time you access the page? Are you now paying for advertising you dont want?
AT&T has already announced that it may begin policing traffic on their network for copyright compliance and (oh yeah the real reason) differentiating service. We may end up being stuck with whatever crappy VOIP solution your cable company provides since they will block or at the very least slow down access to competitors software.
This is no different from the phone company that offered a flat rate for unlimited calling adn then got pissed, cancelling the contract of someone who took them at their word and was using the network beyond what they considered "reasonable."
This move would undoubtedly push me back to consider DSL service even though iw ould need a regular landline to make it work. In my area, they also have Wireless service so maybe that would be a solution.
STP (Squirrel transport Protocol) suffers from the same inherent problems as IPOAC(IP over Avian Carrier) in that they are both very vulnerable to a a CITM (Cat In The Middle) attack. If however you were to implement STP over RHB (Roving Hamster Ball), the packet may still be intact yet there may occur an indeterminate amount of delay.
... that it states in the upgrade description: "Backup and clean install may be required."
"We need to have you reinstall Vista, so format your drive, find your Windwos XP CD and reinstall XP, load Service Pack 2, load patches/fixes/updates, then restore your data backup, and you can now reinstall Vista. Oh, dont do this too often or you will have to call us, explain yourself and get a activation code over the phone. Oh, you didnt install it yourself, they did it at CompUSA? Well, hopefully they still have your backups, have a nice day. "
"Poker Bots" - The online casinos regularly use Poker Bots, automated/scripted engines, to fill seats at tables and play on behalf of the house. If these "bots" had prior knowledge of the cards being dealt, even if nothing was done to "stack the deck", that would gvie tem a formidable advantage. To the average player, these Bots would appear just as another individual on the internet yet they have the house advantage and will eventually bring tons more money to the casinos coffers.
This is also not to mention the rigging possible with slot machines. You do not enjoy the benefits of regulation when playing at one of these off-shore accounts. So if they get caught cheating in some way, they close down the site and open up a brand new one in a matter of days. Online casinos wont be safe until some one can figure out how to regulate them globally.

Yet the government has until the "summer" to determine how to enforce this "American Law." So, what happens to these guys in the meantime? Do they stay in prison/jail until the US goverment gets its act together? This whole hting stinks as a knee-jerk reaction. You cant put the cart before the horse. Establish the rules, establish the procedure and then go after them. In the meantime, I find this whole affair repugnant and will only serve to incite negative opinion, at the very least, in foreign countries regarding the US.
I'll bet the TSA agents are all patting themselves on the back for a job well done for generating such good press.
Now call me a radical, but didnt we just get rid of ribbons by throwing out the typewriters? Why now do we get ribbons again?
I wish they would make up their minds. I guess I will end up with a "black cursor" for all those commands I will have to select. They better have some handiwipes along with it or I am really pissed.
Further advancements in DLP now replace the single bulb approach with multiple bright LED's. With this new approach, there is no "rainbow effect" and the resulting resolution is now higher than the 1080i standard.
Here is a blurb about a new model by Samsung: "Samsung must realize those DLP bulbs don't last long enough and cost too much because the new 56-inch HL-S5679W DLP set uses LED lighting. Hey, Samsung, while you're under the hood, why not kill that color wheel too? Oh wait, they did that too with red, green and blue LEDs, which is killer because there's no gold at the end of that rainbow effect. The new tweaks give the HL-S5679W a sweet seven-second startup time and 20,000 hours of little lamp lives. There's no wobulation in this 1080p set, it's full 1920 x 1080 in a progressive format with dual 1080p inputs. Samsung states these will handle 1080p signals, so if it's the real deal, these should be paired up PlayStation 3's, no? Watch for it in April around $4,200."
So, it would seem the new DLP LED would be perfect to prevent burn-in while providing a incredible picture and resolution.

The mother walks into a store and buys a computer. She asks how to get it connected to the internet and out comes the cable company and provides the connection. Who in this chain of events shold be responsible for telling this adult the proper way for her children to use the internet? The store? Nope, they just sell product, saying how easy it is to use and that it will be perfectly suited for her children. Tha cable company? Nope, they again are selling a service, providing a high speed internet connection in return for a monthly subscription. Neither one of those selling or providing services are boud by law to disclose the dangers of internet use to an uninformed consumer. In fact, both are bound by "corporate policies" to make sure that the sales comes first. If they dont bring up this issue, they can say "plausible deniability" when it comes to any litigatable issue.
There may be morality issues involved that a reasonable person might take the adult aaside and tell them what they need to do to be sure their kids are safe, but by no means are they bound by any law to do so. That would also be something that teenage stockboy/salesman doesnt even think about. A sufficently informed adult would amke sure their childrens use of the internet was adequately monitored. The real problem is adequately informing adults. You may say "Well, she should have read the owners manual. Well, since she barely understands the computer, can you imagine her trying to make heads or tails of the owners manual?
