What about free with integrated ads? Japan has opened up a copyright-free video hosting site already, and many American companies are now distributing their shows online for free (unfortunately only the most recent episodes).
The only major issues is they are usually released with lower quality than the standard pirated mkv.

Exactly. The ability to skip scenes, not have to rewind, ripp and play on your computer, plus (assuming you can take care of your disk) not worry about the inevitible ripps, pops and crackles that VHS offers made it a more viable choice.

The "higher quality" and even "more space per disk" of BluRay are but meager offerings to the standard viewer. Sure, a BluRay disk can fit the entire first season of "Eureka" on it; but will it cost less than the 5 DVD box set of the series? Will it cost so much less that its worth investing in a new player?

Good argument. However, personal belief doesn't always coincide with the belief of the establishment, which was my original (and, thanks to my pre-breakfast state, poorly worded) point. Most Catholics I know (which are most Christians I know given my particular set of friends) don't believe in the entire doctrine of the Church--they, as well as myself, make exceptions for particular dogmas and laws. And many, many world religions especially make these exceptions when it comes to the relationship between empirical and religious authorities (sometimes causing a pleasant coexistence of metaphysical belief, other times causing a split of what that person believes is "real" and "spirit").
But you are correct, and it was a valid assumption to make. Excuse my above comment.

All happiness and sadness comes from within. The Dhali Lama himself has admitted he feels guilt and regret for many things in his life (the example he stated in the interview was telling someone they were too old for particular yoga poses and then learning that person committed suicide because they believed they'd be reincarnated as a stronger, younger person). Yet in his book he continues that "simply because I feel sadness does not mean I should continue to feel sad forever."
Thoughts do not exist in the present. You do. Your actions do. But your thoughts do not. They are in the past. They are memories. Letting your mood...no your life be dragged down by depression is a matter of a lack of training your mind to push aside things that depress you that exist only in the past (regret, guilt, depression, trauma, fear, etc...). I'm not saying the people are weak--its skill that has to be trained. But I do think many, many people in this world ignore this as "hippy bullcrap" and run off to their local pharmacy to find their solution in a bottle (which I will admit is required for some people, but no where near as many as those who take them).

However there are many cases in which allergens are not so easily found. It is the person's responsibility to know if they are lactose intolerant, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to find out if a product does or does not contain dairy. It is easier to sell to someone with these allergens if the products are listed (it is, in a big way, a service), so the consumer with allergens can splurge shop without having to stop before buying anything to check the internet, a book, etc... to ensure their favorite product does not contain milk and/or meat and/or nuts and/or MSG.

Unfortunately, the same goes for Video Games and movies. If one video game has no rating listed on the box, and another has E (for everyone), the parent is more likely to choose the "E" rated box. Children, Teens and Adults probably wouldn't care (and in our modern society may even be more likely to pick up the unrated game).

But yes, the shop keeper and ESPECIALLY the state should not keep media out of the hands of particular individuals based on a cultural standard that may or may not apply to that individual. A 16 year old from China will have a different view on pornography than a 16 year old from the states. At the same time, a 16 year old from the stats will have a more leniant view on a game in which the hero is a happy-go-lucky skeleton than a 16 year old in a traditional Chinese house hold where exposed human bones are considered highly taboo. And, for better or worse, America has been set up (in theory) to allow for people of any (major?) culture to be able to adapt to whatever government standard is set forth. But the truth is, there is no universal standard...
