Phillip Morris is already pursuing Australia for damages under the ISDS system after losing in the Australian high court. Australia signed a free trade treaty with Hong Kong in the 90s and that is the basis for this action. The TPP will only make matters worse.
This has been going on for at least 60 years.
HomeLink and Intervac have been around since 1953, using printed books at arrange person to person swaps long before the internet.
I've been listening to triplej for about 20 years and as usual there are plenty of songs I do not recognize in the list. That is part of the deal with triplej, no comfort zone of classics and far more new music than you can follow.
There will be a few teeny pop songs in the list but if you listen to a few, you'll see that the range is far more diverse and none of the usual pop artists.
Over the past few years triplej has been doing a lot of work to foster local music, their site http://www.triplejunearthed.com/ is great and you can legally download plenty of good music.
I guess one day my music tastes will crystallize and I'll join the host of others who think that music was best in year X (usually when they were a teenager). I'll fight that as long as I can.
I agree that you will never prove that they do not exist but that is not always the main goal.
If you take the people who believe in ghosts along and approach it from a perspective of searching for evidence, you may get them to think a bit more about what they recall seeing in the past.
I had a similar opportunity to investigate in the Cemetery on Norfolk Island, it was a great deal of fun and I think a few of my friends really changed the way they view skeptics and weigh evidence.
It may be more feasible than you think.
I've been thinking about the same solution for a while. I've polled a few friends with SUVs and most of them seem to think it is a good idea. (1 did not think it was required). Of the friends without SUVs, they all thought it was a good idea.
You did not miss much from what I saw. I'm in Newcastle and was out for an early ride and say it at 5.50 EST. To me it looked more like a unusual cloud formation near the moon. It was interesting enough for me to mention it to my friends when I met them at 6 but they did not even notice it. I did not think about it again until I saw it on the evening news with a few ufo nuts.
I had a quick look at the PubMed search and did not see any results that seemed to support the blood group personality thing.
If I search PubMad for "star signs" I get almost twice as many results.
Can you post the links to any of these articles that show any evidence to support a relationship between blood group and personality?
About 15 years ago one of my first dance coaches in Australia was approached by APRA to pay a fee to play music.
He was about 70 at the time and was not happy with paying them a fee. He asked if they only represent Australian music. It seems that they did not really have the right to collect 'royalties' on behalf of overseas artists.
He told them he only plays German dance music and they just left him alone.
I'm not sure if this is still correct or even if it was the full story. However, it would be sad if Australian clubs could avoid apra fees by not playing Australian music.
I think angels should really be put in to the god category, they have superhuman abilities, can fly, live for ever unless killed by a stronger god etc.
What makes you think that you have to have a supernatural to have morality? Or are you saying that you need a belief in the supernatural to have morality? If this is the case, why are atheists so under represented in prison population statistics?
I understand what you are saying but think you are missing the mark. I actually do a bit of SAR with the BWRS in Australia and when well meaning but untrained members of the public wander into the wilderness looking for someone they can really cause a lot of new problems. I think one imaging specialist could manage checking the 'hits' from the public. And if they think it is interesting, it does not take long to fly over it.
We get this a lot, people just mark a legitimate message as spam because it is easier. This is particularly common with with aol users.
The best option I have found is to include a unique identifier in the message and setup a 'feed back loop' with aol. They send you a notification when someone marks a message from your domain as spam. We remove them from our system and then contact them to explain why their lazy actions effect other aol users. Usually they are shocked that they have been caught and vow never to do it again. They often also ask to get included in the system again.
It seems a pity that a story like this brings out so many "wah wah wah they have it so easy wah wah" comments from slashdotters. I may not agree with the logic of the legal action but the Indian bashing is not required.
I'm sure I will get modded down for speaking against the group think.
I think that money donated to a church that is not used for charity purposes should not be counted as a charitable donation.
The problem is that it is quite hard to identify how much money donated to religious organizations will actually go to real aid work as compared to what is spent on building churches, local wages or 'spreading the gospel'.
The churches have a vested interest in emphasizing their aid work as it is a key justification for their tax exempt status. If they had to have open books we would be in a better position to judge if they really should be tax exempt.
I have not found a home coffee machine yet that can provide the correct pressure and temperature for the whole shot. Getting fresh roasted beans every few days can also be a hassle. You really need at least a semi professional grinder to get the consistent sized grains required for an even extraction and even professional machines need adjusting during the shift to cover for humidity and temperature changes.
I suppose with the right gear, the coffee roasted in the last week, ground in the last hour and 2 or 3 shots to calibrate the grinder you could make an espresso at home that matches a cafe. I prefer to just pay the $2 at a good cafe.:-)
The reason I get way to much into this is that my wife was a barista at an award winning cafe and I know how much work they put into getting the perfect shot. The sort of dedication that sadly most customers do not appreciate because they order a milk based coffee and put sugar in it!
If you are into good coffee just go to a decent cafe and buy one. In my experience, you can not get a good coffee from a coffee chain. It takes a passionate local roaster and a barista who grinds for every cup and lives for coffee. A good sign is that most people just order a shot of espresso.
I have worked as a taster for a couple of roasting houses in the last few years and agree that espresso is by far the best.
In my opinion, the only coffee worth drinking is double shot of espresso or a ristretto. If you find an espresso is to bitter it is time to find a better cafe. Milk and sugar are the enemies of good coffee.
Hmm, nothing against torture, nothing against child abuse, nothing against slavery. As a rules to live by they seem a bit lacking.

Made me smile. Pity about the moderators.

I agree and you do not need to post ac as this is slashdot and it is ok to be an atheist here.
I agree. You access their information for free and they collect data about you. Big deal.
perhaps the reason you don't need your own computer is that your employer lets you post on slashdot ;-)
I wish I had mod points, this needs to be marked funny not interesting!
