Sorry, I was talking about an Australian study, as I used to work in this study. The study was the effect of pure growth hormone being used, no anti-biotics, and no other hormones. The ONLY way to isolate the effects of something is to keep everything else constant. Animal sickness was no more frequent then the control group and they showed a resistence to diseases that effected the control group, however they were susceptible to muscular disorders and malnutrition. Neither of which are treated with antibiotics.

The problem with many farmers is that they are treating the GH enriched animals as regular animals, which isn't a problem with the animals, but rather their (short) upbringings.

Oh and sorry to hear about your bad practices in beef processing. AFAIK Australia has some of the highest food and handling safety.

What GM food will do is to pollute the world's plants by gene migration from GM plants to other plants (already seen and documented) and impact us in many unforseen ways (e.g. the butterflies dying from GM-altered plants).

IIRC there are several goals of GM plants, increased growth rate, ability to live in more environments, and able to produce their own pesticides, or be pest resistant. So in many forseen ways, the death of the butterflies was a desired effect as many caterpillers can and will destroy crops.

This reminds me of what happened many years ago with animals that were fed growth hormone. They were massive, and it was cheap. It was ideal food. Idea never caught on, people were afraid that the growth hormone would cause them to grow unnaturally. Shame proteins are broken down into their amino acids when they are digested, thus being harmless. So unless you took habbit of injecting your bacon, then there wouldnt have been a problem. But an uneducated mass will easily beat the educated few.

Of one years worth of textbooks, one was hardcover, the rest were paperback BUT the hardcover textbook was the cheapest. Not only that, but it was the most specific and information filled out of the collection.

All in all I'm all for finding a cheaper way to get the material I need. If it comes in PDF files that are ad supported, I'm all for that.

Reading the first article raises valid points that if this new definition scheme was brought into play, then theoretically earth and jupiter aren't planets, and neither is neptune. Earth, jupiter and Neptune have not cleared their orbital paths (asteroids, small debris, and Neptune still hasn't rid itself of the pesky pluto), which doesn't qualify them to be "planets".

Also just because it doesnt orbit in a perfect circle (which NONE of the planets do) doesn't make it any less of a planet. Nor does size matter.

On top of the type of addiction, the establishment of the addiction is needed. Heroin (and most morphine based compounds) increase dopamine activity in the brain, resulting in a euphoric feeling. However the drugs have long term depressant side effects, thus a person will want to take the drug just to be happy, not to cure the pain so much. If this new compound doesn't give the happy side effect, then it won't be as addictive, or addictive at all, because people will only feel sad.

As far as a show with a bit of story, i watch funland, a british show about strip clubs and a corrupt town. Even though it has a horrid timeslot, i go out of my way to watch it.

The point i am trying to make is that amongst that pile of crud, you get your gems, Destroy All Humans for example, low budget, and when i first heard about it i thought "just another kiddie game" but i have played it several times through.

Apart from the fact that these diseases either kill you and you have no hope, we can cure them after infection or they have already been eradicated (smallpox), we can do this with the majority of diseases. It is better to do this at a younger age because the immune system is more responsive, and because the body is smaller it is easier to produce enough antigens and such.

The flu epidemics (which still happen nowadays) are different, the flu virus mutates extremely quickly and there isn't a particular cure. The effects on a child (and elderly) are so severe mostly because of the dehydration that usually accompanies the flu. It is hard to keep a child drinking fluids when they don't want to, and its also hard to keep up with the diarrhea that also accompanies many diseases.

The point of exposing the children to dirt and such is that they get a low level of the pathogen, a dealable amount, not so much infecting them with a disease so they get a full blown attack. Also we mostly innoculate our children because if we waited until they were adults, they probably would be dead by now....

  21. Re:Farm Workers Without Allergies on Overly Sanitized Environments Lead to Poor Health? · · Score: 1

Your allergies are genetically inherited, no dirt eating can fix that, however the allergies of many people are caused by a lack of contact with allergenic materials. It doesn't even have to be a particuarily sterile environment to cause such allergies. For example my friend who had his mother clean his room twice weekly from the day he was born until aobut 2 years ago, once she stopped and there was a dust buildup he couldn't handle it and broke out in terrible hayfever.

I work in a pharmacy and many people bring their children in worried sick because the kid had just eaten some dirt and they didnt want their baby being sick. Most these people i say to "Its good that your kids are playing in the dirt, and getting sick at a young age helps them develop a good immune system."

You are correct in saying an allergic reaction is just your body's reaction to an allergen, usually because it has nothing better to do, or a particular protein found is similar to one that was present in a virus or bacteria.

Also interesting is that many people who have many allergens are also likely to develop type 2 diabetes.

This may seem like an odd cure, but both myself and my biology teacher from high school are trying to find enough allergy prone people (also a few type 2 diabetics) to conduct a test with tape and hook worm. Both forms of worm as fairly easy to sustain in the body with a proper diet, and due to the immune system attacking the worms, the same immunoglobulins won't be able to attack the allergens, but the normal imune system should be working fine. In theory this should stop allergic reactions, also explains why young kids usually dont suffer many, if any, allergic reactions. Getting people to knowingly ingest worms however is a tough job...

I believe you missed the point that porn dvds are being sold on the web and being delivered via digital means instead of buying a hard copy, this tactic has worked brilliantly with mp3 downloads, as long as they are reasonably priced, people will pay for the convenience. If the movie industry followed suit of the porn industry, they too will be able to "keep on top" of piracy (for lack of a better saying, pun intended)

As for burning it onto a DVD, there are thousands of reasons. Including:
    1. Getting tips from a pro - If you watch a world cup soccer match, it doesnt make you a world cup soccer player. But it can give you ideas on how to better yourself, and if you watch it over and over, you understand how it works, then you can just go practice it.

    2. Some full length porn features are really long, especially the ones without stories. So it could take you a while to get through it, having convenience on DVD.

    3. Save space on your computer.

    4. Easier to put a DVD into a dvd player then it is to drag a laptop or a monitor over towards your bed to watch it with your girl/boy/trannyfriend.

    5. Label it family photos and the kids will never touch it.

    6. Easier to share with friends.

    7. A particular porn star might just tickle your fancy, so you watch it for them, instead of the movie itself.

    8. Being able to give a physical size to your collection, giving you bragging rights "Mine is bigger then yours!"

    9. If your computer breaks down, and you need to take it to a techie, they wont find your stash after you have already burnt and deleted it.

    10. Same reason anyone buys any movies on DVD or VHS for that matter, after 5 years you forgotten the nitty gritty parts and you can rewatch and learn.

BTW just because you don't share your porn with a kinky significant other (if you have one that is) doesn't mean other people don't. I would prefer my porn in DVD format.
