If you read down a bit on that page you come to this:

The reason the digits are more commonly known as "Arabic numerals" in Europe and the Americas is that they were introduced to Europe in the 10th century by Arabic-speakers of North Africa, who were then using the digits from Libya to Morocco. Arabs, on the other hand, call the system "Hindu numerals",[18][19] referring to their origin in India.

Also, I was just joking about questioning what "2" is, the question brought that song to mind.

I see that! I normally go to the members login page and don't have a problem because they don't serve ads to me as a member. I was going to check it in another browser but Firefox tossed up a Blocked site message from Norton. They didn't have a valid reason, just results of automatic scanning equating it to a dangerous site. There are some handy tools there, maybe having them makes it look hacker related or something. I don't want Norton doing anything with regards to me so I guess it's good bye FF... it was a long run but you just got into bed with the wrong people. Now I did get to the Ad Blocker message, bummer... but I'm a lifetime member so I'll keep using the place.

  15. There's really not much mechanical connection between the inside and outside doorknobs anymore. It used to be there was an iron shaft connecting the two but that made the lock vulnerable to a pipe wrench attack. On a modern door, if you hung a charcoal starter on a doorknob you would set the inside of the door (normally urethane or wood) on fire. At that point the outside would be getting hot but also smoking or bursting into flames. I wonder what would happen if you wired a large capacitor to a metal door knocker... everyone loves to use those things...

I have a related problem with my carrier. I get internet access from a cable TV company. I don't subscribe to cable TV because I don't like paying all that money for what they offer. Now they (ISP/cable co) have refused a deal for cable TV channels controlled by Viacom. If I go to a site controlled by Viacom, like Comedy Central, Viacom gives me a message saying video playback is blocked by my ISP (a half truth at best) and I should contact the ISP to get it fixed. I got it fixed with a VPN, but as more people cut the cord I'm seeing various TV providers declining to allow playback without a proof of cable TV subscription... I hope web only content providers just kick ass on all these bone heads.
