You do realize that one of the reasons why more countries don't attack the USA is because our "larger" military and our perchance to whip it out if provoked. Smaller military means that every anti-American country waiting to attack us (i.e. ideologically, militarily, economically, etc.) would have a better chance at winning should they decided to do so.
There are some cultures out there for which live and let live does not exist; and look at the USA's culture as an anathema to be crushed.
I'd pay (seriously) $300 dollars if they re-released Wing Commander (all of the episodes) with newer graphics and killer soundtrack. That series was masterfully done and one the fondest memories I have from middle school.
And yes, first person shooters are a bit tiresome now.
Not sure I understand the business reasons fully for not allowing T-Mobile to carry the iPhone 4S. If there was any carrier who really needs this phone they are the ones who need it most; especially in light of the fact that there is no guarantee that the AT&T / T-Mobile merger will occur. Perhaps its just sour apples on my part, since I really was hoping to finally move away from my Blackberry.
Why use any social networking site if your gonna isolate yourself? Don't get me wrong I do use facebook and am fully aware how the tracking system works (I personally enabled it on 20 sites I use this morning). It just seems like a lot of "the sky is falling" mentality. Not trying to troll or flame here, but it seems like if you don't want others to know what your doing, then you should unplug the computer and just use it as a standalone system. Could be just my old man point of view though. lol
As a T-Mobile customer who hates T-Mobile, but refuses to go to Sprint (their coverage sucks), Verizon (too damm expensive), and both of these providers use CDMA, (I want a phone I can take overseas if I travel). So I personally would LOVE to have AT&T take over T-Mobile, if for nothing else then the added phone selection that I will be able to access.
Look, Deutsche Telekom is not going to invest any more money into T-Mobile, so someone will have to buy it, AT&T is as good a choice as any.
But I blame HP. HP has had a wonderful alternative called a "digital sender" which is basically a high-speed document scanner (50 to 55 ppm) which looks just like a fax, except it goes to email address (in PDF, JPG, TIFF formats), utilizing a simple interface.
But the price is too fricken high! If they had been smart and offered it at a reasonable price, we could have been replaced the fax by now.
While I am not a Best Buy employee, I do work in Best Best and personally I think they undercharge for the PC Setup and Optimize service (I realize this will be unpopular but I'm willing to jump on that dagger today).
Could the average joe user learn to do the same stuff they do, yes. Does the average joe user care about doing that stuff, not really. They just want it to work, without consideration of what should be done as preparation to be used (i.e. system updates, adding anti-virus, setting up username with strong passwords, etc.) Yet, when something goes wrong they are quick to blame the vendor. Best Buy has pre-setup and factory-setup systems available for sale. If the customer indicates they want a Best Buy setup system, then they should pay the price, if not they can state otherwise. If the only systems available are pre-setup ones then, the customer can wait or pay the difference.
Some of you "brains" (I do mean that in a positive sense) forget that not everyone can / or care to take the time to do preliminary work. Others of you fail to understand that Best Buy is in the business of making money through a wide variety of business strategies. This is just one of them. Were it me, I would charge more, because I think that the extra $99 dollars is low. Again this is just my opinion and I realize it will not be popular, but when you run a business (especially a public company); revenue needs to be generated and operating costs need to be paid.
Steve Jobs got them this far, its up to Cook and the rest of Apple, to either (1) remain the new king of the hill or (2) fuck it up royally. Should be interesting either way.
If you have children who are able to attend K-12 (using the US standard, since its what I know); then you can purchase Windows 7 Professional for 29.99. More if you want a backup DVD (though you can roll your own and save some money).
If i had the funds, I'd definitely setup a movie theatre right across the street from them and put out nice big signs saying "We won't kick you out if you use your phone."
Clearly there is a market for people (at least 1 person) who might pay a premium for the right to use their phone. lol
I'll warrant that most people (if not all people on./) probably would never need a computer repair tech to fix a computer. Sure I get that.
My question becomes why does the majority feel that people should work for free or peanuts? Put another way: why should individuals or groups who don't know how to do task or can't be bothered to learn a task be entitled to free service?
First, since a "service" is mostly an intangible, if I look at a computer for free and then inform a victim (not to be snarky) of exactly whats wrong with their computer (or any other product) and then tell them how much it will cost to get it fixed; I am asking for that customer to take their computer back, say thank you, and go to Joe Fixit (another competitor) down the block, with the required information needed to explain the problem and hammer down the cost of repair. Do this enough times and it does not even make sense to stay in business. Additionally, time is money, so for taking time out to look at the client's computer should compensate me for my time used.
I could go on all day with this, but the bottom line is that: if one is ignorant and requires help (and it is not a life-threating situation), they should pay for it, or go purchase a book (or go to a class) and sweat through learning the intricacies of how to fix their problem.
Actually Sir Judge, based upon your above statement, this case would probably hold up on the third portion, "disrupts a lawful assembly of persons."
Last time I checked, a school is a lawful assembly of people, and I would hazard a guess that the former student who posted this very much disrupted the assembly.
You know I was gonna leave this alone, but as I'm both a science guy and sales guy, I'll play the bad guy today.
First, thanks for assuming that sales and marketing guys are "soulless"; because all products can sell themselves without someone talking them up. I don't comment on the maniacal god-complexed wanna-be hackers and FOSS types who think that "information wants to be free" and that we should give up the crown jewels in the interest of making life better.
The soulless sales types are the ones who get people to notice your products and get them sold so you can continue to create more toys for your amusement. Clearly, if most techies didn't have such an arrogant attitude about their products - you know the ones who get butt hurt when asked a simple question about how to do something a non-technical person does not have a clue about - they might be able to sell a product or two, other than their insular circle... ON THEIR OWN.
Finally, I will say I find my sales job highly rewarding, both monetarily and for the services I bring to my customers. I also have a deep respect for those who create
technologies that I am currently unable or unwilling to do at this time.
And yes I do admit to driving like an asshole sometimes. lol (but only late at night when no other cars are around me).
Seriously thought, its not gonna matter. Hating Microsoft is the svelte thing to do on/. (Along with argue about hate / love with Apple, RMS, Free vs Open vs Proprietary).
Windows Meeting Space is the replacement to NetMeeting.

Your asking people to stop drinking the "sky is falling" cool-aid. Probably never will happen.

Microsoft Security Essentials....works great!

I too would like to say thanks for a good experience. It was interesting and fun at the same time.

Are you stupid / dumb / bat-shit crazy / or high off of canned air?
What the fuck...does this have to do with NoScripts?

If it worked well, yes.

In a word: YES.
Wow.. Marketing doing its job: Generating interest in company product. Great story.
lol you must be new here.(j/k)

Not that I really care either way, but why is elitism bad again?
"...can you get a sexually-vectored disease from sitting on a toilet seat?"
You should ask this guy. I'm sure he may have an answer for that.
You sir, get the cool comeback prize! LOL I need mod points!
