  1. Re:In Jedi on When Did Star Wars Jump the Shark? · · Score: 1

Believe it or not, but R2 does kind of make sense.

Assume R2 was fairly new when going to Naboo. That would mean that from that point in the story until Luke is cleaning him on the farm is between 30 and 40 years (I'm sure those who are much better versed in the lore from the books can make that figure more accurate). Luke talks about how the R2 unit was an old model when he bought it.

So, an analogy with today would be me buying a 40 year old car. Anyone still drive a 1967 Mustang? Sure. I can see the justification of Luke buying him for the farm, but once he gains a rank in the Rebellion, why wouldn't you upgrade to a newer model (other than nostalgia or that R2 was one of the more popular characters commercially)?

My youngest is 9. I'm home when she gets off the bus (I work 6am to 3pm, thanks to flexible work hours). We spend 30 minutes a day walking around the neighborhood and chatting about her day. Some days we stop at the neighborhood park (less exercise for me, but keeps her motivated to continue). Sure, it isn't heart-pumping cardio, but movement is movement. I start cooking at 4 and supper is ready by 4:30 (when the next one gets home from middle school). Homework and housework are allocated about an hour to two depending on what needs to be done. Usually by 6 (when my wife gets home), the rest of the evening is left for side work and relaxation until it's time for bath and bed, but I could easily squeeze in an hour of exercise if I wanted to.

If you arrange your schedule right, you can find the time.

The one I have has a curved cut-out which gives a little better "fit".

In a "thinking" job (as opposed to a "doing" job), it's really hard to prove that you didn't spend any time on it while at work and vice versa.....if your work entails writing software to track stocks and then while at home you write a similar product, even if completely on your own free time with your own personal resources, etc. Don't you think your employer would have some greivance with you?

With a "doing" job, it's easy to prove that you purchased the materials and assembled the item on your own....and as long as you didn't violate any patents while doing so, that widget is yours to do whatever with. That's why my brother-in-law who works as a cabinet maker can go home and build and sell furniture in his spare time.....same field, but pretty obvious that he did the work on his own.
