back when they were operating freely they got lawsuit against them and they started charging to prevent closing their sites.
What i'm wondering is why they were almost the only target out there? Kazzaa, e-mul, e-donkey, newsgroup and other still operates freely or almost free for newsgroup.
Is it because the advertisement that is dumped on your machine when you install those are related to the music industry and as such they will let them do whatever they want?
I know Napster was clean on that part, i am beginning to think that it's juts because they refuse to add crap to their software
That chimp selected the 3 because it looks like a butt or a pair of breast when you look at it sideways.
Joking aside, the number 3 is a representation that we could have made by drawing something else but it was that drawing that made the cut, how would a chimp decipher what we humans have taken for granted that 3 means well 1+1+1, and is represented by the 3
We put names on stuff, the word one and the digit representing one was not always there. We can only assume that those numbers are derived from finger counting one finger looks like 1, 3 fingers looks like well 3 fingers sideways but what about 2 or 4 or 5 6,,,,they dont fit, so the chimp, apart from finding the drawing appealing does not mean it has a mathematical value in it's head.
If our futur leaders come from Wow and other mmporpg we are doomed for the lack of social abilities.
problem solving???? OK unless we get the perfect Ai that acts exactly like a human being meaning erratically most of the time we will not get much further.
Most of the games i have played have a pattern, when we talk about WoW and other games a like, we have the human factor but we are still bound by that programming which , even though want to resemble life, is not.
Try hacking your employee with with a Frezzing sword +10 damage of electrical,,,,,not many uses in real life.
"Smart IT bosses anticipate user needs. We need to be saying "hey, have you seen how you could do your job better with this new thing?"... But many don't. So we're seen as a cost centre, rather than a profit centre. A hinderance, rather than an enabler"
There is a big problem with that statement.....User wanting the changes, you might have the greatest idea in the world but if you have no followers, you will not be seen as the guy who makes life easier but the guys who wants to change the routine and some employees and VP and other older staff will not want these changes simply because they would have to learn something new.
I know, i have the best example of an employee here who wants everything to show in windows explorer, if anything like a shortcut to a resource is on her desktop, she will not find it and go berserk, every time i wanted to facilitate her work she goes berserk because she is entrenched in her old ways. the new way would prevent calls and accelerate her work but nooooooooooo.
There is people willing to listen but they are usually the lowest cadre possible and do not affect the thinking of their peers.
If i can purchase computer hardware at lower price in the world and get it shipped to my house i dont know why i could not buy a game cheaper elsewhere if it's advertise and use it like i want.
Who are they to block people? if they dont want this then they should sell it the same price or rather accordingly to dollar equivalent in other country, that way anyone wanting to get it cheaper would lose in the conversion.
This is not new , they have already put software like this in use for kids who have light autism. Some of these kids look at the mouth when other people speak so they miss the facial expression which conveys more than the tone of voice.
the software, which is not perfect, tries to get what the other person is feeling by facial expression and they even have a camera pointing at their own face to let them know how to understand facial expressions by studying themselves.
it's not because someone knows how to use technology that they understand everything about it and particularly those savvy users
I have people using Iphones and Blackberry and Instant messaging but they dont know jack shit about the rest and how it works in the background so i'm not too afraid of losing my job to those people.
i have seen people boasting about their understanding of the internet and all those nifty gadget they speak about ya know,,,E-mule, Kazzaa, Bit torrent, Messenger and they are the same that usually get hacked and or get loaded with viruses.
technology users do not rhyme with safe usage of it.
And that girl they talk about well, you cant turn your geek switch off when you like computers, you either like it or you dont, learning out of necessity does not make you the hottest tech around and will not assure you a nice place but again that depends on where you want to be, most of the Bosses i had, had half the knowledge i possess but that did not prevent them from making decision for IT but in some case it can be a hindrance when the person over you does not know the implication of what she or he is talking about.
"This problem is hardly unique to Vista, and is just going to drive more and more people away from Microsoft."
As long as they are gamers out there , it will have no effect. Being a gamer myself i am stuck with MS, i dont want to buy a console but would switch if PC games were made equally for either MAC or Linux.
But what about all that legacy crap in the Bios motherboard, when can we expect that some company will actual create a board without 15 year old technology or other obscure settings that is no longer used by anyone except maybe a 386.
The os might load fast with a bare minimum but what about the excess baggage of hardware?
has mac done this or is it just that the OS on a linux bas system is just plain faster.
now i know linux fans and mac fans will say that they already knew that but can someone provide hard facts
I know,,, they want to start doing it like vista is a printer, you can transfer a fixed amount of files then you have to pay more and more and forever more.
that's not a glitch they want to fix, it's a lawsuit they want to prevent:)
I think any geeks can make an honest mistake when trying to fix a machine, others like Mass produce tech like geek squad are faster on the hardware changes and will not take the time to properly fix stuff but it has happened for me that i did a false call on a piece of Hardware but i was not doing it for money in that case nor am i a geek squad employee.
Sometimes i get people saying i'm BS them but hey i usually get this from people who already has their mind set to "aint gonna get screwed". They want to hear the perfect answer and specially dont want to be the root of the problem even if it's the truth.
If that study was only done with service center you find like bestbuy, geek squad and future shop well, look at the salary they are paid and you'll get your answer, dont think that 10$ an hour will get the best tech in the world but...but there are over paid techs as well.
the more i read comments the more i wonder if this is new news altogether
I actually read a sci-fi book from Dan Simmons who actually uses nuclear detonation to make the spaceship move. Either he was getting his info from someone or someone just said hey looks good in the book, let's apply it to real stuff.
Shit Kerry should have gone down and help the kid, that would have been a major political move in his favor, no instead he stood there watching, trying to look compose while those assholes tazed him.
i agree that the guy was becoming more and more panicked and well, when police take you down on the floor, the last thing you want to do is fight them, even though they are in the wrong.
i dont get people getting music in digitsal format over the internet and not being able to do what they want with it, at least with a physical cd, you can copy it all you want whenever you want to whatebver media you want.
ok it takes a hell of a long time to compile them to your computer so it fits on your mp3 player but hey, at least you can control it.
whatever happens,,,,the artist makes more money doing shows than selling cd's unless he's a 100 million album selling artist or owner of his own recodr label.
There's much to consider in changing ways to manage meters, if one company starts it, it means more paperwork = more money in the end for the city i guess.
honestly in downtown Montreal's, if they remove the meters in front of Apple, who do you think will park there? Customers? hahaha no. It's going to be people who work either there or in some other office.
Then you'll get Apple store calling to get the cars remove because it will say that it's their parking space bla bla bla.
4 parking space is not going to get more customers in the shop + consider the fact that downtown Montreal as a subway that goes everywhere so who really needs to park in front?
If they really want to park somewhere, they can go to place Ville-marie, park in the subterranean parking and buy diner and they will get free parking (unless they changed that policy, been a while i went there)
or if you like walking, there's enough free parking around if you can manage to read the millions of sign out there.
Yes i installed firefox several times myself so the 400 million mark could be just like less than 100 millions and if they took updates in all it could go as low as less than 20 millions, even lower and i'm guessing a hell of a lot lower than what they say
that's not surprising considering they did that sort of banning in Messenger a couple of years back when it started, you could not use Bill gates, MSCA, some key words like FUCK, administrator etc..etc
like were likely to encounter Bill gates on msn!!!!
"The effect is even worse than you might think because of what is going on inside the ship. After all, everything inside the ship, including you, is speeding up, getting more and more energy, and getting heavier and heavier. In fact, you and all the machines on the ship are getting pretty sluggish. Your watch, for instance, which used to weigh about half an ounce, now weighs about forty tons. And the spring inside your watch really hasn't gotten any stronger, so the watch has slowed way down so that it only ticks once an hour. Not only has your watch slowed down, but the biological clock inside your head has also slowed down. You don't notice this because your neurons are getting heavier, and your thoughts are slowed down by exactly the same amount as the watch. As far as you are concerned, your watch is just ticking along at the same rate as before. (Physicists call this "relativistic time contraction.") The other thing that is slowed down is all of the machinery that is powering your engines (the dilithium crystals are getting heavier and slower, too). So your ship is getting heavier, your engines are getting sluggish, and the closer you get to the speed of light, the worse it gets. It just gets harder and harder and harder, and no matter how hard you try, you just can't quite get over the light barrier. And that's why you can't go faster than the speed of light."
If mass is the only problem in order to reach the speed of light or to go beyond it then,,,,, if,,,,,in a thousand year, they find that they can shield something so that there is no effect on the things inside so mass augmentation whatsoever is not a factor and that the engines used to propel this machine have sufficient power why then,,,could we not go beyond.
We could also get a cruciform creature like Dan Simmons's Hyperion and just get reconstructed after coming out of our travel
Pissed off after someone makes me run for 6 hours on a treadmill ,,,,,,

Anyway, it sucks, suck i say

Ouch! a gungan star wars series now that would suck ass and i mean you would hear the suction, it would be tangible and you would feel it too.
But what about all that legacy crap in the Bios motherboard, when can we expect that some company will actual create a board without 15 year old technology or other obscure settings that is no longer used by anyone except maybe a 386.

Yeah yeah Psicho-history and the study of the mass population to predict the future.
I know,,, they want to start doing it like vista is a printer, you can transfer a fixed amount of files then you have to pay more and more and forever more.

They got the monsters out in Surface the series ???
Oh no my Area 51 alienware dream computer just went from 12000 to 14500 $ now i'm never going to get it :(
i dare you to click on BUY IT!
the more i read comments the more i wonder if this is new news altogether

I doubt NiN qualifies for the second.

i found something interesting
