  1. Next Gen Consoles on Nvidia 480-Core Graphics Card Approaches 2 Teraflops · · Score: 1

Just think of what the next generation of consoles will have. Microsoft will learn from their mistake (hopefully) and allow for better heat dissipation. And there is no telling what Sony will come up with to try and secure their share in the market. Anyway... these are all hopes of course. My point being, the next gen consoles should deliver some mind blowing experiences.

Moffat.... wasn't he the writer for a series called "Jekkyl"? ... as in Dr. and Mr. Hyde? I just finished watching the series on Netflix and loved it... I finished it in a day in fact. I'm pushing up 30 this year and my little brother is a Dr. Who fanatic, so I started watching it on Netflix as well... just haven't gotten into it yet, but I'm still giving it a shot. There is an air of familiarity to it, I can remember the theme song from when Dad would watch it back in the 80's. Anyway... Moffat did a fine job on Jekkyl, just giving props or something I guess.

You could also throw some cynical imagination in there, humility that we could all be completely wrong, and the Pagans had it right the whole time. Perhaps the Earth is a "living" entity in ways we don't yet recognize. And all the flora and fauna are just parasites, including us. There are an aweful lot of galaxies out there, and they all have planets. Can a flea comprehend that a dog, or human is what it is? I doubt it, it's just food, shelter, and a body to colonize and breed on. They inhabit the parts that are good for them, and avoid the places that they are likely to die. Much like us on earth. They suck blood, while we mine and farm. So while we see Earth as a beautiful place full of life. Other planets may see her as the filthy whore of the region, and use their gravity to throw rocks at her.... hehe Okay, that's a little dumb, but I think I've conveyed my message. Just wanted to put a spin on things for you all. I wonder what religion that makes me?

I completely agree... I generally do a major upgrade or new build every 2-3 years, and I was on a tight budget earlier this year when I performed the ritual. It was a nice moment as a consumer to be able to buy a comparable (for my needs) cpu from AMD for 2/3 the cost of the intel lineup. Sure, the Opteron X2 isn't gonna knock out a Core2Duo, but for my needs it was plenty, and considerably cheaper. It would be VERY nice to see a 3rd player in the game, especially if it was a company I trust as much as NVidia, I buy their gpu's exclusively, too bad. But at least they're focused!

The government zealously threatening to ruin your life as you know it can easily lead you to thoughts of suicide. I went as far as carrying a bottle of carbon monoxide and mask around in the spare tire compartment of my car in case things went south quickly during the legal process. I was not about to become someone's bitch for something I didn't even do, and apparently neither was Dr. Ivin. I honestly can't blame him. When I was in that situation suicide seemed like the wisest thing TO do considering how my life would be after going thru the prison system. I kept thinking that if I didn't kill myself now, I'd be sitting in prison, innocent!, and wishing I had. Luckily, I guess you could say, I was able to pay a lawyer THOUSANDS of dollars to eventually get the case thrown out on entrapment (after a year and a half of HELL). When you are a good person and get in a sticky situation with the chips stacked against you.... you mental health turns to the dark side rather quickly. May he rest in peace.

  20. Re:Bike to work on How Do Geeks Exercise? · · Score: 1

One of two wrecks I've seen in life involved a innocent cyclist being obliterated.

A friend and I were on our way home from an all night AD&D session at like 7 in the morning on a two lane road. There is a car stopped ahead in the lane to the left of us waiting to make a turn. A car traveling a littler faster than us in that same lane just kept going at the same speed approaching what was now two cars stopped to turn. This caught my attention as it was obvious this guy was quickly getting rid of his braking distance and was not applying the brakes.

My friend looks over at me for a second with a face like "oh shit" and taps the break a little to get us out of range in case shit goes crazy (45mph speed limit).

Then is happens, car SLAMS into the back of the car 2nd car waiting to turn, into the car in front of it, which is knocked into oncoming traffic, at least one oncoming car get hammered, and the car traveling next to it... and this is the part I was building up to ...swerves off the road to the ?median? that's when I see someone on a bike fly into the air like a ragdoll after being hit by the car and wrecking into a gas station sign where the other cars had been waiting to turn into.

The guy on the bike ended up dying, we stopped and the cops took our name as witnesses. I was amped up on enough caffiene to get a horse buzzed, so I saw the whole thing in freakin 60fps HD Cinemacolor. Craziness

That being said, I just bought a mountain bike ($99 Mongoose Mountain Bike @ Walmart) to try and get some exercise and eventually get back into Taekwondo. Which (if you aren't an introvert) is an awesome way to get yourself into shape and flexibility. Plus it's a self confidence booster. When you are "fighting" or training to fight 3 times a week, if you find yourself in an actual fight or danger, you have the confidence of knowing that you've trained for it, throwing punches and kicks everyday. Where the average person hasn't thrown a punch since they can remember.

Good luck with your workout routines...

We humans have been on this planet but a smidgeon of the earth's lifetime... Who's to say it's not that way for a reason. Now... get a microscope take a close look at some of that coffee in your cup. There is a whole world under there, and who is to say how a bacteria perceives its surroundings. That cup of coffee is it's universe and it knows nothing of the car you drive and what its function is... But in order for it to propagate and live it's life may depend on you using that car, going to see your family, then infecting them as well. It's all about perspective in my opinion.
