Well, I don't care about the size to be this small, I would like to see a bit bigger version which would have full HD (1920x1080) and a projection size of 3meters wide (from a distant of 3-4 meters)..
But I wonder how it compares to let's say an optoma H79 when it comes to contrast etc. and how long will the lasers last.. (at least I'll be putting of buying a new FullHD projector for the next year hehe)
Well, you really must be dumb enough to really believe the blogentry from the person who claims to have worked there.. Unless the company involved says otherwise I won't believe anything (especially since booting windows normally takes longer than 1 minute LOL)..
Typical of our dutch gouverment... ODF is dead.. So there is no real ODF standard anymore.. and that's the whole problem of using an opensource document format..
From what I've read it clearly states that when it is put in his SHARED folder it's copyright infringment.. With SHARED folder meaning, the folder which he shares with a lot of other people (p2p).. So if he didn't put the files in his SHARED folder there wouldn't be any problems...
There is nothing wrong with what Google did, they only 'showed' the ipnumber to the court. Serves you well for 'attacking' someone anonymous.. be a (wo)man..
Some people always hide behind anonimity, so this is just a good warning to people who flame..
A lawyer who represents some of them says his clients often suspect that it was the IT guy who just left -- and was responsible for maintaining the licenses -- who ratted them out for a big BSA reward
Well 9 out of 10 times, it's the manager who says there isn't enough money for the license and urges the IT guy to just install the copy on more PC's..
The reason mister Bell is angry is not really because of the Raid (ofcourse he isn't happy with it, but that's his own fault).. The reason he is angry is because his name got mentioned in the flyer, and that's something I can agree on.. But again, the whole article is written as a sensationarticle (by linking it to RIAA) as if he is angry because of the raid..
Can you explain to me what security measures it is if by putting the program in another folder as 'Program Files' just does the same as in the past? And what security does it give putting userdata in the same folder as the application as normally the data belongs to the program not specific user...
It would even be better to have a new 'Program Files' folder for the new measure, so one knows which program would follow the new directive and which propably doesn't, so it would even be better that way..
Now we (and a lot of other developers) just tell our customers not to install it into 'Program Files'..
Because some idiots (yes i call them idiots since it doesn't provide any extra security other than problems) think other people should program as they think it should be, doesn't mean it's the right thing..
I'm still waiting for some good explanation as to why this would be much safer as before.. Now it just gives a lot of developers a headache, and users a false sense of safety (but most users only notice the difference when they see their data isn't there anymore when logged on as a different user, or even worse don't notice they don't even have the latest version since Vista didn't see the updating as an update to the program, but thinks it is userdata so moves it to the userspace..
The biggest FU IMHO is the problems they created with the 'Program Files' folder and the registry referals.. This is just plain stupid as just putting it in another folder also solves the 'Program Files' folder problem, so what's the use..
Having a new Folder which would do what 'Program Files' does now in Vista would have been much better, so developers could use the new folder and old developers just could go on.. Because they think you shouldn't place data in the program files folder doesn't mean you really shouldn't (having your own updateprogram is also a problem now as it is seen as just userdata when you try to update your program)..
This just shows how ignorant some people are.. Ofcourse it isn't a problem of putting up the video of your 18month old baby, but having Prince music in the background without permission is a problem.. if this woman would win, it could have some repurcussions, because when are you able to use music without permission and when not.. I'm sorry for this woman, but I hope the musiccompany will win, because a lot of people just take things as music too much for granted.. (I also guess the woman didn't credit prince in her video for the music..
This only shows how bad Steam and valve really are..
Nowhere on the box says you have to buy the game in your own territory.. So at least here in the netherlands it would be illegal what Valve did.. but I always wonder why people would buy it somewhere else, there's always the trouble when the disk is faulty or something with returning it..
Well, it has suprised me that it took them so much time before they started to go after usenet. For a lot of people this is the main source of getting their illegal sources. Here in the netherlands it's the only way to get you movies/music legal as downloading copyrighted material isn't illegal (yet), uploading is, so bittorrent is illegal here.. It's a good thing they go after usenet, because it really is getting out of hand how much people just steal.. and yes it's stealing.. Just imagine if it's your movie or music that is being distributed and you don't see anything back, but then again, most people have a very low moral standard when it comes to their interest..
Same visual quality? I think not, it's the same as saying that dvd content can be recorded to a CD with the 'same visual quality' with divx.. well, guess again, I have yet to see a divxrip of about 700MB which has the same visual quality as a good dvd. at least when projecting..
Because you find that 'low' quality good enough doesn't mean it's the 'the same visual quality'.. but then again, it's marketing, and there are a lot of fools on this world..
This ofcourse is ridiculous, if men aren't allowed to play as women, then women shouldn't be allowed to play as men.. this is just flatout discrimination, and I guess therefore a lawsuitrisk..
Using a picture which is CC isn't bad ofcourse, but not asking for permission from the person on it, is a bad thing, especially if the person is underaged, they should have asked permission of the parents.. You should always have the permission of the person in a picture if you are going to use it commercially (hell even if you are not using it commercially). Hell, I would also sue any company for using any pictures of me if someone else took them and put them somewhere on the internet, unless ofcourse I gave that person specific permission for letting other people use that picture.. What's next, we just shoot a picture of someone on the street and use it since I put it on the internet with a CC license, without the person even knowing it?
Well, maybe I didn't spell it correctly since I'm not an american (and english is not my native language), slashdot (and the world) is not for americans only you know (yeah I know some of you think it is).
And there is a difference between making fun of him and 'killing' him in a game.. Making fun of him would be like the character would just run around like a clown and saying stupid things, not making him a specific target in a mission. Even though I personally would find it funny to shoot him ingame, there just is a line that shouldn't be crossed by a company like Rockstar and using their game to express their opinion of Thompson.
If this is really true, than this time I must side with thompson (normally I wouldn't), because it is clearly to mok him.. I also find this pretty childish of Rockstar (and even borders on threath).. But not having actually seen the footage or something I really can't judge, so I'm basing my opinion on this article.. There is a line that can be crossed and so if this story is true IMHO Rockstar crossed that line..
Well, it seems magazines etc. just don't have anything to write about, so let's write about how we can easily pirate stuff. There is no reason why you should pirate tv/movies/music, it's not like your life depends on it. TV/movies/music still are Luxury products. Because it's rather easy to pirate stuff (without consequences), doesn't mean you should do it, people think these days that they have a right to view everything for free. It was not long ago that you couldn't even buy episodes as easy as it's today.
Like C.Net just writing how you exactly do it, is IMHO not a good thing and should not have been published, and says more about the integrity of the writers at C.Net. What's next, just publish the torrents/downloads on C.Net itself?
Ahwell, this kind of reality check will only angry some people and give me a worse karma here again, but then again, I don't care if I angry people with the thruth..
Yet another example of people thinking they are right and not the other.. the journalist didn't walk out because he didn't even go on the trip, because you had to sign the NDA BEFORE you go to the event..
It's AMD's own right to have such a strickt NDA, if you do not agree with it then you just don't go there, it's that simple..Now the journalist makes a big fuss about the NDA as if it's really something special, which ofcourse is nothing more than yelling for attention, which he clearly got since there's mentioning here on slashdot..
As far as I can tell, if he really did walk out while he was there, then it's still his own doing not AMD's because he knew about the NDA BEFORE he went there. So he's definitly no 'hero' as some articles writes are making out of him.. What's wrong with moral these days, people not wanting to 'obey' other people's whishes..
Oh comeon.. offering linux to users isn't a solution.. Linux is nice for people who know what they are doing, but it's still a hell for regular users.. Linux still isn't as userfriendly as Windows is today, especially when it comes to installing software, or even finding software.. Maybe in a couple of years Linux will be as userfriendly (or propably even be more userfriendly), but it still has a long way to go, but it certainly is getting there..
I still wonder if Wine is completely legal, as it must step on some patents owned by MS, also it's kinda reverse engineering, which is illegal in a lot of countries..
but other than that, it's great to have a good windows emulator..
Well, I don't care about the size to be this small, I would like to see a bit bigger version which would have full HD (1920x1080) and a projection size of 3meters wide (from a distant of 3-4 meters).. That really is one, if not THE best HT I've ever seen.. I guess it must have cost a bundle of money.. Only downside is the very small screen..
these days, kids know more about setting up consoles than their parents, so I guess most kids will know how to circumvent the timer...
Top invention of 2007 the iPhone? WTF.. there isn't anything new about the iPhone.. There are way more REAL inventions done in 2007..

but will there be a possibility to select another searchengine beside google? if not, then I see a antithrust lawsuit around the corner...
