Also there is of course the simple fact that we almost always wake up and reach for the phone or computer before we even go for the coffee anymore. Kinda sad.
Ah, the Royal We.
Speak for yourself, champ. Coffee before anything.
Another interesting feature of satellite view is that it shows the current cloud coverage, not just an old photo of the clouds. I just noticed that recently, but maybe it's been there for a while.
It's almost as if a large-scale operation like a city government can work on more than one thing at a time, innit?
Maybe other municipalities, but not San Francisco. These problems are old. I would say it's been as severe as it is now for about a decade, perhaps a little less.
SF government seems to have a problem with accountability. Perhaps forcing the corporate workforce out onto the shit-needle campsite sidewalks everyday will help.
After a crime has been committed, in order to obtain evidence, the authorities can always obtain a warrant to compel a device owner to decrypt/unlock a device. If the owner refuses, that's what contempt of court is for. If the device owner is dead, who gives a fuck what's on the phone? If the owner (presumed criminal) is willing to sit in jail indefinitely for refusing to unlock/decrypt, that is an acceptable outcome.
You need to read this:
Amendment V
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
In other words, you can take what I have, but not what I know.
Because it really doesn't MATTER on topics which don't really APPLY the the supreme court. Get your congress-critters two write law well and it'll survive any decision from SCOTUS.
Well, it sort of does matter. Here you have a SCOTUS Justice nominee who arguably has an established agenda. He believes that POTUS (any) should be immune from criminal investigation, yet he was on the team investigating Clinton during the Lewinsky affair. He spent five years working for the directly for the Bush administration And now, with RvW back, you have now a justice who, along with the rest of the Court, will effectively make the law of the land by overturning a previous SCOTUS ruling.
Which isn't surprising. That's how our government works these days. Flip flop, back and forth, party to party. Wait 2 - 4 years and do something else. And if you can't do that, just be a party of oppositionists and obstructionists until the other side is beaten into submission. Rinse, repeat. This is both sides of the aisle.
No matter your political slant, this guy doesn't represent well the impartiality one would hope for from a sitting judge.
Well, what do you expect? There is no substance whatsoever to the story beyond the headline, with the obvious exceptions of where you can view the collection and some of the Van Gogh quotes and insights.
Honestly, after "hey, the entire Van Gogh collection is online", what else is really left to say? Frankly, I would have expected it to be there years ago... meh.
If you don't see a meaningful gap between "go off the grid" and "Free Apps! Apppsss! I need all the Apps!" then might I suggest that your re-evaluation was ineffective.
But imagine a Beowulf Blockchain of these!
Jobs focused on quality. Cook focuses on margin. Cannot have both.
Yes you can.
Quality, budget, schedule. Pick two.
Just my 2 cents ;)
Well, what else would it be?
There are only so many times you can make an abusive spouse analogy before it starts to look like a cry for help. Blink twice if you need assistance.

That... that is very cool.

Leave The Cheeto out of this.
Slashdot needs an "Ignore User" feature. Good god.
He was more right than even he realized. I wish, now more than ever, that he still had access to a hardware store and a post office.
Do you want to be on a list? Because this is how you get on a list.
My neckbeard just grew out from reading the summary.

Don't be obtuse. AC's point was easy to grok.

Then re-evaluate your "need" for the stuff.
You fail.
